ヘブル人への手紙 5

1 大祭司なるものはすべて、人間の中から選ばれて、罪のために供え物といけにえとをささげるように、人々のために神に仕える役に任じられた者である。

For every high priest, having been taken from among men, is appointed on behalf of men toward the things which pertain to God, so that he may offer gifts and sacrifices on behalf of sins;

2 彼は自分自身、弱さを身に負うているので、無知な迷っている人々を、思いやることができると共に、

he is able to commiserate with those who are ignorant and who wander astray, because he himself is also encompassed by infirmity.

3 その弱さのゆえに、民のためだけではなく自分自身のためにも、罪についてささげものをしなければならないのである。

And because of this, he also must make such offerings for sins even for himself, in the same manner as for the people.

4 かつ、だれもこの栄誉ある務を自分で得るのではなく、アロンの場合のように、神の召しによって受けるのである。

Neither does anyone take up this honor himself, but rather he who is called by God, just as Aaron was.

5 同様に、キリストもまた、大祭司の栄誉を自分で得たのではなく、「あなたこそは、わたしの子。きょう、わたしはあなたを生んだ」と言われたかたから、お受けになったのである。

Thus, even Christ did not glorify himself, so as to become High Priest, but instead, it was God who said to him: “You are my Son. Today I have begotten you.”

6 また、ほかの箇所でこう言われている、「あなたこそは、永遠に、メルキゼデクに等しい祭司である」。 (aiōn g165)

And similarly, he says in another place: “You are a priest forever, according to the order of Melchizedek.” (aiōn g165)

7 キリストは、その肉の生活の時には、激しい叫びと涙とをもって、ご自分を死から救う力のあるかたに、祈と願いとをささげ、そして、その深い信仰のゆえに聞きいれられたのである。

It is Christ who, in the days of his flesh, with a strong cry and tears, offered prayers and supplications to the One who was able to save him from death, and who was heard because of his reverence.

8 彼は御子であられたにもかかわらず、さまざまの苦しみによって従順を学び、

And although, certainly, he is the Son of God, he learned obedience by the things that he suffered.

9 そして、全き者とされたので、彼に従順であるすべての人に対して、永遠の救の源となり、 (aiōnios g166)

And having reached his consummation, he was made, for all who are obedient to him, the cause of eternal salvation, (aiōnios g166)

10 神によって、メルキゼデクに等しい大祭司と、となえられたのである。

having been called by God to be the High Priest, according to the order of Melchizedek.

11 このことについては、言いたいことがたくさんあるが、あなたがたの耳が鈍くなっているので、それを説き明かすことはむずかしい。

Our message about him is great, and difficult to explain when speaking, because you have been made feeble when listening.

12 あなたがたは、久しい以前からすでに教師となっているはずなのに、もう一度神の言の初歩を、人から手ほどきしてもらわねばならない始末である。あなたがたは堅い食物ではなく、乳を必要としている。

For even though it is the time when you ought to be teachers, you are still lacking, so that you must be taught the things that are the basic elements of the Word of God, and so you have been made like those who are in need of milk, and not of solid food.

13 すべて乳を飲んでいる者は、幼な子なのだから、義の言葉を味わうことができない。

For anyone who is still feeding on milk is still unskillful in the Word of Justice; for he is like an infant.

14 しかし、堅い食物は、善悪を見わける感覚を実際に働かせて訓練された成人のとるべきものである。

But solid food is for those who are mature, for those who, by practice, have sharpened their mind, so as to discern good from evil.
