ハバクク書 1
1 預言者ハバククが見た神の託宣。
The burden which Habakkuk the prophet did see.
2 主よ、わたしが呼んでいるのに、いつまであなたは聞きいれて下さらないのか。わたしはあなたに「暴虐がある」と訴えたが、あなたは助けて下さらないのか。
O YHWH, how long shall I cry, and thou wilt not hear! even cry out unto thee of violence, and thou wilt not save!
3 あなたは何ゆえ、わたしによこしまを見せ、何ゆえ、わたしに災を見せられるのか。略奪と暴虐がわたしの前にあり、また論争があり、闘争も起っている。
Why dost thou shew me iniquity, and cause me to behold grievance? for spoiling and violence are before me: and there are that raise up strife and contention.
4 それゆえ、律法はゆるみ、公義は行われず、悪人は義人を囲み、公義は曲げて行われている。
Therefore the law is slacked, and judgment doth never go forth: for the wicked doth compass about the righteous; therefore wrong judgment proceedeth.
5 諸国民のうちを望み見て、驚け、そして怪しめ。わたしはあなたがたの日に一つの事をする。人がこの事を知らせても、あなたがたはとうてい信じまい。
Behold ye among the heathen, and regard, and wonder marvellously: for I will work a work in your days, which ye will not believe, though it be told you.
6 見よ、わたしはカルデヤびとを興す。これはたけく、激しい国民であって、地を縦横に行きめぐり、自分たちのものでないすみかを奪う。
For, lo, I raise up the Chaldeans, that bitter and hasty nation, which shall march through the breadth of the land, to possess the dwellingplaces that are not theirs.
7 これはきびしく、恐ろしく、そのさばきと威厳とは彼ら自身から出る。
They are terrible and dreadful: their judgment and their dignity shall proceed of themselves.
8 その馬はひょうよりも速く、夜のおおかみよりも荒い。その騎兵は威勢よく進む。すなわち、その騎兵は遠い所から来る。彼らは物を食おうと急ぐわしのように飛ぶ。
Their horses also are swifter than the leopards, and are more fierce than the evening wolves: and their horsemen shall spread themselves, and their horsemen shall come from far; they shall fly as the eagle that hasteth to eat.
9 彼らはみな暴虐のために来る。彼らを恐れる恐れが彼らの前を行く。彼らはとりこを砂のように集める。
They shall come all for violence: their faces shall sup up as the east wind, and they shall gather the captivity as the sand.
10 彼らは王たちを侮り、つかさたちをあざける。彼らはすべての城をあざ笑い、土を積み上げてこれを奪う。
And they shall scoff at the kings, and the princes shall be a scorn unto them: they shall deride every strong hold; for they shall heap dust, and take it.
11 こうして、彼らは風のようになぎ倒して行き過ぎる。彼らは罪深い者で、おのれの力を神となす。
Then shall his mind change, and he shall pass over, and offend, imputing this his power unto his eloah.
12 わが神、主、わが聖者よ。あなたは永遠からいますかたではありませんか。わたしたちは死んではならない。主よ、あなたは彼らをさばきのために備えられた。岩よ、あなたは彼らを懲しめのために立てられた。
Art thou not from everlasting, O YHWH my Elohim, mine Holy One? we shall not die. O YHWH, thou hast ordained them for judgment; and, O mighty Elohim, thou hast established them for correction.
13 あなたは目が清く、悪を見られない者、また不義を見られない者であるのに、何ゆえ不真実な者に目をとめていられるのですか。悪しき者が自分よりも正しい者を、のみ食らうのに、何ゆえ黙っていられるのですか。
Thou art of purer eyes than to behold evil, and canst not look on iniquity: wherefore lookest thou upon them that deal treacherously, and holdest thy tongue when the wicked devoureth the man that is more righteous than he?
14 あなたは人を海の魚のようにし、治める者のない這う虫のようにされる。
And makest men as the fishes of the sea, as the creeping things, that have no ruler over them?
15 彼はつり針でこれをことごとくつり上げ、網でこれを捕え、引き網でこれを集め、こうして彼は喜び楽しむ。
They take up all of them with the angle, they catch them in their net, and gather them in their drag: therefore they rejoice and are glad.
16 それゆえ、彼はその網に犠牲をささげ、その引き網に香をたく。これによって彼はぜいたくに暮し、その食物も豊かになるからである。
Therefore they sacrifice unto their net, and burn incense unto their drag; because by them their portion is fat, and their meat plenteous.
17 それで、彼はいつまでもその網の獲物を取り入れて、無情にも諸国民を殺すのであろうか。
Shall they therefore empty their net, and not spare continually to slay the nations?
