アモス書 6
1 「わざわいなるかな、安らかにシオンにいる者、また安心してサマリヤの山にいる者、諸国民のかしらのうちの著名な人々で、イスラエルの家がきて従う者よ。
Woe to them that are at ease in Zion, and trust in the mountain of Samaria, which are named chief of the nations, to whom the house of Israel came!
2 カルネに渡って見よ。そこから大ハマテに行き、またペリシテびとのガテに下って見よ。彼らはこれらの国にまさっているか。彼らの土地はあなたがたの土地よりも大きいか。
Pass ye unto Calneh, and see; and from thence go ye to Hamath the great: then go down to Gath of the Philistines: be they better than these kingdoms? or their border greater than your border?
3 あなたがたは災の日を遠ざけ、強暴の座を近づけている。
Ye that put far away the evil day, and cause the seat of violence to come near;
4 わざわいなるかな、みずから象牙の寝台に伏し、長いすの上に身を伸ばし、群れのうちから小羊を取り、牛舎のうちから子牛を取って食べ、
That lie upon beds of ivory, and stretch themselves upon their couches, and eat the lambs out of the flock, and the calves out of the midst of the stall;
5 琴の音に合わせて歌い騒ぎ、ダビデのように楽器を造り出し、
That chant to the sound of the viol, and invent to themselves instruments of musick, like David;
6 鉢をもって酒を飲み、いとも尊い油を身にぬり、ヨセフの破滅を悲しまない者たちよ。
That drink wine in bowls, and anoint themselves with the chief ointments: but they are not grieved for the affliction of Joseph.
7 それゆえ今、彼らは捕われて、捕われ人のまっ先に立って行く。そしてかの身を伸ばした者どもの騒ぎはやむであろう」。
Therefore now shall they go captive with the first that go captive, and the banquet of them that stretched themselves shall be removed.
8 主なる神はおのれによって誓われた、（万軍の神、主は言われる、）「わたしはヤコブの誇を忌みきらい、そのもろもろの宮殿を憎む。わたしはこの町とすべてその中にいる者を渡す」。
The Sovereign YHWH hath sworn by himself, saith YHWH the Elohim of hosts, I abhor the excellency of Jacob, and hate his palaces: therefore will I deliver up the city with all that is therein.
9 一つの家に十人の者が残っていても、彼らは死に、
And it shall come to pass, if there remain ten men in one house, that they shall die.
10 そしてその親戚、すなわちこれを焼く者は、骨を家から運びだすために、これを取り上げ、またその家の奥にいる者に向かって、「まだあなたと共にいる者があるか」と言い、「ない」との答がある時、かの人はまた「声を出すな、主の名をとなえるな」と言うであろう。
And a man's uncle shall take him up, and he that burneth him, to bring out the bones out of the house, and shall say unto him that is by the sides of the house, Is there yet any with thee? and he shall say, No. Then shall he say, Hold thy tongue for we may not make mention of the name of YHWH.
11 見よ、主は命じて、大きな家を撃って、みじんとなし、小さな家を撃って、切れ切れとされる。
For, behold, YHWH commandeth, and he will smite the great house with breaches, and the little house with clefts.
12 馬は岩の上を走るだろうか。人は牛で海を耕すだろうか。ところがあなたがたは公道を毒に変じ、正義の実をにがよもぎに変じた。
Shall horses run upon the rock? will one plow there with oxen? for ye have turned judgment into gall, and the fruit of righteousness into hemlock:
13 あなたがたはロデバルを喜び、「われわれは自分の力でカルナイムを得たではないか」と言う。
Ye which rejoice in a thing of nought, which say, Have we not taken to us horns by our own strength?
14 それゆえ、万軍の神、主は言われる、「イスラエルの家よ、見よ、わたしは一つの国民を起して、あなたがたに敵対させる。彼らはハマテの入口からアラバの川まであなたがたを悩ます」。
But, behold, I will raise up against you a nation, O house of Israel, saith YHWH the Elohim of hosts; and they shall afflict you from the entering in of Hamath unto the river of the wilderness.
