アモス書 5
1 イスラエルの家よ、わたしが悲しみの歌をもって、あなたがたについて宣べるこの言葉を聞け、
Hear ye this word which I take up against you, even a lamentation, O house of Israel.
2 「おとめイスラエルは倒れて、また起き上がらず、彼女はおのれの地に投げ倒されてこれを起す者がない」。
The virgin of Israel is fallen; she shall no more rise: she is forsaken upon her land; there is none to raise her up.
3 主なる神はこう言われる、「イスラエルの家では、千人出た町は百人残り、百人出た町は十人残る」。
For thus saith the Lord GOD; The city that went out by a thousand shall leave an hundred, and that which went forth by an hundred shall leave ten, to the house of Israel.
4 主はイスラエルの家にこう言われる、「あなたがたはわたしを求めよ、そして生きよ。
For thus saith the LORD to the house of Israel, Seek ye me, and ye shall live:
5 ベテルを求めるな、ギルガルに行くな。ベエルシバにおもむくな。ギルガルは必ず捕えられて行き、ベテルは無に帰するからである」。
But seek not Bethel, nor enter into Gilgal, and pass not to Beersheba: for Gilgal shall surely go into captivity, and Bethel shall come to nought.
6 あなたがたは主を求めよ、そして生きよ。さもないと主は火のようにヨセフの家に落ち下られる。火はこれを焼くが、ベテルのためにこれを消す者はひとりもない。
Seek the LORD, and ye shall live; lest he break out like fire in the house of Joseph, and devour it, and there be none to quench it in Bethel.
7 あなたがた、公道をにがよもぎに変え、正義を地に投げ捨てる者よ。
Ye who turn judgment to wormwood, and cast down righteousness to the earth,
8 プレアデスおよびオリオンを造り、暗黒を朝に変じ、昼を暗くして夜となし、海の水を呼んで、地のおもてに注がれる者、その名は主という。
Seek him that maketh the seven stars and Orion, and turneth the shadow of death into the morning, and maketh the day dark with night: that calleth for the waters of the sea, and poureth them out upon the face of the earth: The LORD is his name:
9 主は滅びをたちまち強い者に臨ませられるので、滅びはついに城に臨む。
That strengtheneth the spoiled against the strong, so that the spoiled shall come against the fortress.
10 彼らは門にいて戒める者を憎み、真実を語る者を忌みきらう。
They hate him that rebuketh in the gate, and they abhor him that speaketh uprightly.
11 あなたがたは貧しい者を踏みつけ、彼から麦の贈り物をとるゆえ、あなたがたは切り石の家を建てても、その中に住むことはできない。美しいぶどう畑を作っても、その酒を飲むことはできない。
Forasmuch therefore as your treading is upon the poor, and ye take from him burdens of wheat: ye have built houses of hewn stone, but ye shall not dwell in them; ye have planted pleasant vineyards, but ye shall not drink wine of them.
12 わたしは知る、あなたがたのとがは多く、あなたがたの罪は大きいからである。あなたがたは正しい者をしえたげ、まいないを取り、門で貧しい者を退ける。
For I know your many transgressions and your mighty sins: they afflict the just, they take a bribe, and they turn aside the poor in the gate from their right.
13 それゆえ、このような時には賢い者は沈黙する、これは悪い時だからである。
Therefore the prudent shall keep silence in that time; for it is an evil time.
14 善を求めよ、悪を求めるな。そうすればあなたがたは生きることができる。またあなたがたが言うように、万軍の神、主はあなたがたと共におられる。
Seek good, and not evil, that ye may live: and so the LORD, the God of hosts, shall be with you, as ye have spoken.
15 悪を憎み、善を愛し、門で公義を立てよ。万軍の神、主は、あるいはヨセフの残りの者をあわれまれるであろう。
Hate the evil, and love the good, and establish judgment in the gate: it may be that the LORD God of hosts will be gracious to the remnant of Joseph.
16 それゆえ、主なる万軍の神、主はこう言われる、「すべての広場で泣くことがあろう。すべてのちまたで人々は『悲しいかな、悲しいかな』と言う。また彼らは農夫を呼んできて嘆かせ、巧みな泣き女を招いて泣かせ、
Therefore the LORD, the God of hosts, the Lord, saith thus; Wailing shall be in all streets; and they shall say in all the highways, Alas! alas! and they shall call the farmer to mourning, and such as are skilful in lamentation to wailing.
17 またすべてのぶどう畑にも泣くことがあろう。それはわたしがあなたがたの中を通るからである」と主は言われる。
And in all vineyards shall be wailing: for I will pass through thee, saith the LORD.
18 わざわいなるかな、主の日を望む者よ、あなたがたは何ゆえ主の日を望むのか。これは暗くて光がない。
Woe to you that desire the day of the LORD! to what end is it for you? the day of the LORD is darkness, and not light.
19 人がししの前を逃れてもくまに出会い、また家にはいって、手を壁につけると、へびにかまれるようなものである。
As if a man fled from a lion, and a bear met him; or went into the house, and leaned his hand on the wall, and a serpent bit him.
20 主の日は暗くて、光がなく、薄暗くて輝きがないではないか。
Shall not the day of the LORD be darkness, and not light? even very dark, and no brightness in it?
21 わたしはあなたがたの祭を憎み、かつ卑しめる。わたしはまた、あなたがたの聖会を喜ばない。
I hate, I despise your feast days, and I will not take delight in your solemn assemblies.
22 たといあなたがたは燔祭や素祭をささげても、わたしはこれを受けいれない。あなたがたの肥えた獣の酬恩祭はわたしはこれを顧みない。
Though ye offer me burnt offerings and your meat offerings, I will not accept them: neither will I regard the peace offerings of your fat beasts.
23 あなたがたの歌の騒がしい音をわたしの前から断て。あなたがたの琴の音は、わたしはこれを聞かない。
Take thou away from me the noise of thy songs; for I will not hear the melody of thy harps.
24 公道を水のように、正義をつきない川のように流れさせよ。
But let judgment run down as waters, and righteousness as a mighty stream.
25 「イスラエルの家よ、あなたがたは四十年の間、荒野でわたしに犠牲と供え物をささげたか。
Have ye offered to me sacrifices and offerings in the wilderness forty years, O house of Israel?
26 かえってあなたがたの王シクテをにない、あなたがたが自分で作ったあなたがたの偶像、星の神、キウンをになった。
But ye have borne the tabernacle of your Molech and Chiun your images, the star of your god, which ye made to yourselves.
27 それゆえわたしはあなたがたをダマスコのかなたに捕え移す」と、その名を万軍の神ととなえられる主は言われる。
Therefore I will cause you to go into captivity beyond Damascus, saith the LORD, whose name is The God of hosts.
