サムエル記Ⅱ 16
1 ダビデが山の頂を過ぎて、すこし行った時、メピボセテのしもべヂバは、くらを置いた二頭のろばを引き、その上にパン二百個、干ぶどう百ふさ、夏のくだもの一百、ぶどう酒一袋を載せてきてダビデを迎えた。
And when David was a little past the top of the hill, behold, Ziba the servant of Mephibosheth met him, with a couple of donkeys saddled, and upon them two hundred loaves of bread, and an hundred bunches of raisins, and an hundred of summer fruits, and a bottle of wine.
2 王はヂバに言った、「あなたはどうしてこれらのものを持ってきたのですか」。ヂバは答えた、「ろばは王の家族が乗るため、パンと夏のくだものは若者たちが食べるため、ぶどう酒は荒野で弱った者が飲むためです」。
And the king said to Ziba, What meanest thou by these? And Ziba said, The donkeys are for the king’s household to ride on; and the bread and summer fruit for the young men to eat; and the wine, that such as are faint in the wilderness may drink.
3 王は言った、「あなたの主人の子はどこにおるのですか」。ヂバは王に言った、「エルサレムにとどまっています。彼は、『イスラエルの家はきょう、わたしの父の国をわたしに返すであろう』と思ったのです」。
And the king said, And where is thy master’s son? And Ziba said to the king, Behold, he abideth at Jerusalem: for he said, To day shall the house of Israel restore to me the kingdom of my father.
4 王はヂバに言った、「見よ、メピボセテのものはことごとくあなたのものです」。ヂバは言った、「わたしは敬意を表します。わが主、王よ、あなたの前にいつまでも恵みを得させてください」。
Then said the king to Ziba, Behold, thine are all that pertained to Mephibosheth. And Ziba said, I humbly beseech thee that I may find grace in thy sight, my lord, O king.
5 ダビデ王がバホリムにきた時、サウルの家の一族の者がひとりそこから出てきた。その名をシメイといい、ゲラの子である。彼は出てきながら絶えずのろった。
And when king David came to Bahurim, behold, from there came out a man of the family of the house of Saul, whose name was Shimei, the son of Gera: he came forth, and cursed continually as he came.
6 そして彼はダビデとダビデ王のもろもろの家来に向かって石を投げた。その時、民と勇士たちはみな王の左右にいた。
And he cast stones at David, and at all the servants of king David: and all the people and all the mighty men were on his right hand and on his left.
7 シメイはのろう時にこう言った、「血を流す人よ、よこしまな人よ、立ち去れ、立ち去れ。
And thus said Shimei when he cursed, Come out, come out, thou bloody man, and thou worthless fellow:
8 あなたが代って王となったサウルの家の血をすべて主があなたに報いられたのだ。主は王国をあなたの子アブサロムの手に渡された。見よ、あなたは血を流す人だから、災に会うのだ」。
The LORD hath returned upon thee all the blood of the house of Saul, in whose stead thou hast reigned; and the LORD hath delivered the kingdom into the hand of Absalom thy son: and, behold, thou art taken in thy mischief, because thou art a bloody man.
9 時にゼルヤの子アビシャイは王に言った、「この死んだ犬がどうしてわが主、王をのろってよかろうか。わたしに、行って彼の首を取らせてください」。
Then said Abishai the son of Zeruiah to the king, Why should this dead dog curse my lord the king? let me go over, I pray thee, and take off his head.
10 しかし王は言った、「ゼルヤの子たちよ、あなたがたと、なんのかかわりがあるのか。彼がのろうのは、主が彼に、『ダビデをのろえ』と言われたからであるならば、だれが、『あなたはどうしてこういうことをするのか』と言ってよいであろうか」。
And the king said, What have I to do with you, ye sons of Zeruiah? so let him curse, because the LORD hath said to him, Curse David. Who shall then say, Why hast thou done so?
11 ダビデはまたアビシャイと自分のすべての家来とに言った、「わたしの身から出たわが子がわたしの命を求めている。今、このベニヤミンびととしてはなおさらだ。彼を許してのろわせておきなさい。主が彼に命じられたのだ。
And David said to Abishai, and to all his servants, Behold, my son, who came forth from my own body, seeketh my life: how much more now may this Benjamite do it? let him alone, and let him curse; for the LORD hath bidden him.
12 主はわたしの悩みを顧みてくださるかもしれない。また主はきょう彼ののろいにかえて、わたしに善を報いてくださるかも知れない」。
It may be that the LORD will look on my affliction, and that the LORD will repay me good for his cursing this day.
13 こうしてダビデとその従者たちとは道を行ったが、シメイはダビデに並んで向かいの山の中腹を行き、行きながらのろい、また彼に向かって石や、ちりを投げつけた。
And as David and his men went by the way, Shimei went along on the hill’s side opposite him, and cursed as he went, and threw stones at him, and cast dust.
14 王および共にいる民はみな疲れてヨルダンに着き、彼はその所で息をついだ。
And the king, and all the people that were with him, became weary, and refreshed themselves there.
15 さてアブサロムとすべての民、イスラエルの人々はエルサレムにきた。アヒトペルもアブサロムと共にいた。
And Absalom, and all the people the men of Israel, came to Jerusalem, and Ahithophel with him.
16 ダビデの友であるアルキびとホシャイがアブサロムのもとにきた時、ホシャイはアブサロムに「王万歳、王万歳」と言った。
And it came to pass, when Hushai the Archite, David’s friend, had come to Absalom, that Hushai said to Absalom, God save the king, God save the king.
17 アブサロムはホシャイに言った、「これはあなたがその友に示す真実なのか。あなたはどうしてあなたの友と一緒に行かなかったのか」。
And Absalom said to Hushai, Is this thy kindness to thy friend? why wentest thou not with thy friend?
18 ホシャイはアブサロムに言った、「いいえ、主とこの民とイスラエルのすべての人々が選んだ者にわたしは属し、かつその人と一緒におります。
And Hushai said to Absalom, Nay; but whom the LORD, and this people, and all the men of Israel, choose, his will I be, and with him will I abide.
19 かつまたわたしはだれに仕えるべきですか。その子の前に仕えるべきではありませんか。あなたの父の前に仕えたように、わたしはあなたの前に仕えます」。
And again, whom should I serve? should I not serve in the presence of his son? as I have served in thy father’s presence, so will I be in thy presence.
20 そこでアブサロムはアヒトペルに言った、「あなたがたは、われわれがどうしたらよいのか、計りごとを述べなさい」。
Then said Absalom to Ahithophel, Give counsel among you what we shall do.
21 アヒトペルはアブサロムに言った、「あなたの父が家を守るために残された、めかけたちの所にはいりなさい。そうすればイスラエルは皆あなたが父上に憎まれることを聞くでしょう。そしてあなたと一緒にいる者の手は強くなるでしょう」。
And Ahithophel said to Absalom, Go in to thy father’s concubines, which he hath left to keep the house; and all Israel shall hear that thou art abhorred by thy father: then shall the hands of all that are with thee be strong.
22 こうして彼らがアブサロムのために屋上に天幕を張ったので、アブサロムは全イスラエルの目の前で父のめかけたちの所にはいった。
So they spread Absalom a tent upon the top of the house; and Absalom went in to his father’s concubines in the sight of all Israel.
23 そのころアヒトペルが授ける計りごとは人が神のみ告げを伺うようであった。アヒトペルの計りごとは皆ダビデにもアブサロムにも共にそのように思われた。
And the counsel of Ahithophel, which he counselled in those days, was as if a man had enquired at the oracle of God: so was all the counsel of Ahithophel both with David and with Absalom.
