サムエル記Ⅱ 15
1 この後、アブサロムは自分のために戦車と馬、および自分の前に駆ける者五十人を備えた。
And after this Absalom began to furnish himself with a chariot and horses, and fifty men to run before him.
2 アブサロムは早く起きて門の道のかたわらに立つのを常とした。人が訴えがあって王に裁判を求めに来ると、アブサロムはその人を呼んで言った、「あなたはどの町の者ですか」。その人が「しもべはイスラエルのこれこれの部族のものです」と言うと、
And Absalom rose up early, and stood beside the road of the gate. Then when anyone had a dispute which should come to the king for judgment, then Absalom would call to him and say, "What city are you from?" When he said, "Your servant is of one of the tribes of Israel,"
3 アブサロムはその人に言った、「見よ、あなたの要求は良く、また正しい。しかしあなたのことを聞くべき人は王がまだ立てていない」。
then Absalom would say to him, "Look, your matters are good and right; but there is no one from the king to hear you."
4 アブサロムはまた言った、「ああ、わたしがこの地のさばきびとであったならばよいのに。そうすれば訴え、または申立てのあるものは、皆わたしの所にきて、わたしはこれに公平なさばきを行うことができるのだが」。
And Absalom would say, "Oh that I were made judge in the land, then anyone who had a dispute and a judgment could come to me, and I would give him justice."
5 そして人が彼に敬礼しようとして近づくと、彼は手を伸べ、その人を抱きかかえて口づけした。
It was so, that when any man came near to do him obeisance, he would extend his hand and embrace him, and kiss him.
6 アブサロムは王にさばきを求めて来るすべてのイスラエルびとにこのようにした。こうしてアブサロムはイスラエルの人々の心を自分のものとした。
Absalom did this sort of thing to all Israel who came to the king for judgment. So Absalom stole the hearts of the men of Israel.
7 そして四年の終りに、アブサロムは王に言った、「どうぞわたしを行かせ、ヘブロンで、かつて主に立てた誓いを果させてください。
It happened at the end of four years, that Absalom said to the king, "Please let me go and pay my vow, which I have vowed to Jehovah, in Hebron.
8 それは、しもべがスリヤのゲシュルにいた時、誓いを立てて、『もし主がほんとうにわたしをエルサレムに連れ帰ってくださるならば、わたしは主に礼拝をささげます』と言ったからです」。
For your servant vowed a vow while I stayed at Geshur in Aram, saying, 'If Jehovah will bring me back to Jerusalem, then I will serve Jehovah in Hebron.'"
9 王が彼に、「安らかに行きなさい」と言ったので、彼は立ってヘブロンへ行った。
The king said to him, "Go in peace." So he arose, and went to Hebron.
10 そしてアブサロムは密使をイスラエルのすべての部族のうちにつかわして言った、「ラッパの響きを聞くならば、『アブサロムがヘブロンで王となった』と言いなさい」。
But Absalom sent spies throughout all the tribes of Israel, saying, "As soon as you hear the sound of the trumpet, then you shall say, 'Absalom is king in Hebron.'"
11 二百人の招かれた者がエルサレムからアブサロムと共に行った。彼らは何心なく行き、何事をも知らなかった。
Two hundred men went with Absalom out of Jerusalem, who were invited, and went in their simplicity; and they did not know anything.
12 アブサロムは犠牲をささげている間に人をつかわして、ダビデの議官ギロびとアヒトペルを、その町ギロから呼び寄せた。徒党は強く、民はしだいにアブサロムに加わった。
And he sent and invited Ahithophel the Gilonite, David's counselor, from his city, even from Giloh, while he was offering the sacrifices. The conspiracy was strong; for the people increased continually with Absalom.
13 ひとりの使者がダビデのところにきて、「イスラエルの人々の心はアブサロムに従いました」と言った。
A messenger came to David, saying, "The hearts of the men of Israel are after Absalom."
14 ダビデは、自分と一緒にエルサレムにいるすべての家来に言った、「立て、われわれは逃げよう。そうしなければアブサロムの前からのがれることはできなくなるであろう。急いで行くがよい。さもないと、彼らが急ぎ追いついて、われわれに害をこうむらせ、つるぎをもって町を撃つであろう」。
David said to all his servants who were with him at Jerusalem, "Arise, and let us flee; for else none of us shall escape from Absalom. Make speed to depart, lest he overtake us quickly, and bring down evil on us, and strike the city with the edge of the sword."
15 王のしもべたちは王に言った、「しもべたちは、わが主君、王の選ばれる所をすべて行います」。
The king's servants said to the king, "Look, your servants are ready to do whatever my lord the king chooses."
16 こうして王は出て行き、その全家は彼に従った。王は十人のめかけを残して家を守らせた。
And the king went out with all his household following him. But the king left ten women, who were secondary wives, to take care of the palace.
17 王は出て行き、民はみな彼に従った。彼らは町はずれの家にとどまった。
So the king went out with all his servants following him, and they stopped at the last house.
18 彼のしもべたちは皆、彼のかたわらを進み、すべてのケレテびとと、すべてのペレテびと、および彼に従ってガテからきた六百人のガテびとは皆、王の前に進んだ。
And all the people passed on before him. And all those with him, all the officers and warriors, were six hundred men, and they passed on before him. And when all the Cherethites and all the Pelethites and all the Gittites who followed him from Gath passed on before the king,
19 時に王はガテびとイッタイに言った、「どうしてあなたもまた、われわれと共に行くのですか。あなたは帰って王と共にいなさい。あなたは外国人で、また自分の国から追放された者だからです。
then the king said to Ittai the Gittite, "Why do you also go with us? Return, and stay with the king; for you are a foreigner, and also an exile. Return to your own place.
20 あなたは、きのう来たばかりです。わたしは自分の行く所を知らずに行くのに、どうしてきょう、あなたを、われわれと共にさまよわせてよいでしょう。あなたは帰りなさい。あなたの兄弟たちも連れて帰りなさい。どうぞ主が恵みと真実をあなたに示してくださるように」。
You came only yesterday. Should I today make you wander about with us, since I go I know not where? Go back, and take your brothers with you, and may Jehovah show you kindness and truth."
21 しかしイッタイは王に答えた、「主は生きておられる。わが君、王は生きておられる。わが君、王のおられる所に、死ぬも生きるも、しもべもまたそこにおります」。
Ittai answered the king, and said, "As Jehovah lives, and as my lord the king lives, surely in what place my lord the king shall be, whether for death or for life, even there also will your servant be."
22 ダビデはイッタイに言った、「では進んで行きなさい」。そこでガテびとイッタイは進み、また彼のすべての従者および彼と共にいた子どもたちも皆、進んだ。
David said to Ittai, "Go and pass over." Ittai the Gittite passed over, and all his men, and all the little ones who were with him.
23 国中みな大声で泣いた。民はみな進んだ。王もまたキデロンの谷を渡って進み、民は皆進んで荒野の方に向かった。
And all the land wept aloud as all the people crossed over. And the king crossed the Wadi Kidron, and all the people passed before him on the Olive road into the wilderness.
24 そしてアビヤタルも上ってきた。見よ、ザドクおよび彼と共にいるすべてのレビびともまた、神の契約の箱をかいてきた。彼らは神の箱をおろして、民がことごとく町を出てしまうのを待った。
Look, Zadok also came, and all the Levites with him, bearing the ark of the covenant of God; and they set down the ark of God; and Abiathar went up, until all the people finished passing out of the city.
25 そこで王はザドクに言った、「神の箱を町にかきもどすがよい。もしわたしが主の前に恵みを得るならば、主はわたしを連れ帰って、わたしにその箱とそのすまいとを見させてくださるであろう。
The king said to Zadok, "Return the ark of God to the city. If I find favor in the eyes of Jehovah, he will bring me back and show me both it and his dwelling place;
26 しかしもし主が、『わたしはおまえを喜ばない』とそう言われるのであれば、どうぞ主が良しと思われることをわたしにしてくださるように。わたしはここにおります」。
but if he should say, 'I have no delight in you;' look, here I am. Let him do to me as seems good to him."
27 王はまた祭司ザドクに言った、「見よ、あなたもアビヤタルも、ふたりの子たち、すなわちあなたの子アヒマアズとアビヤタルの子ヨナタンを連れて、安らかに町に帰りなさい。
The king said also to Zadok the priest, "Aren't you a seer? Return into the city in peace, and your two sons with you, Ahimaaz your son, and Jonathan the son of Abiathar.
28 わたしはあなたがたから言葉があって知らせをうけるまで、荒野の渡し場にとどまります」。
Look, I will wait at the fords of the wilderness until word comes from you to inform me."
29 そこでザドクとアビヤタルは神の箱をエルサレムにかきもどり、そこにとどまった。
Zadok therefore and Abiathar carried the ark of God again to Jerusalem; and they stayed there.
30 ダビデはオリブ山の坂道を登ったが、登る時に泣き、その頭をおおい、はだしで行った。彼と共にいる民もみな頭をおおって登り、泣きながら登った。
David went up by the Ascent of the Olives, and wept as he went up; and he had his head covered, and went barefoot: and all the people who were with him covered every man his head, and they went up, weeping as they went up.
31 時に、「アヒトペルがアブサロムと共謀した者のうちにいる」とダビデに告げる人があったのでダビデは言った、「主よ、どうぞアヒトペルの計略を愚かなものにしてください」。
And it had been told to David, saying, "Ahithophel is among the conspirators with Absalom." David said, "Jehovah, please turn the counsel of Ahithophel into foolishness."
32 ダビデが山の頂にある神を礼拝する場所にきた時、見よ、アルキびとホシャイはその上着を裂き、頭に土をかぶり、来てダビデを迎えた。
It happened that when David had come to the top, where God was worshiped, look, Hushai the Archite came to meet him with his coat torn, and earth on his head.
33 ダビデは彼に言った、「もしあなたがわたしと共に進むならば、わたしの重荷となるであろう。
David said to him, "If you pass on with me, then you will be a burden to me;
34 しかしもしあなたが町に帰ってアブサロムに向かい、『王よ、わたしはあなたのしもべとなります。わたしがこれまで、あなたの父のしもべであったように、わたしは今あなたのしもべとなります』と言うならば、あなたはわたしのためにアヒトペルの計略を破ることができるであろう。
but if you return to the city, and tell Absalom, 'Your brothers have left, O king, after your father left, and now I am your servant, O king. Allow me to live. As I have been your father's servant in the past, so now I am your servant,' then you will defeat for me the counsel of Ahithophel.
35 祭司たち、ザドクとアビヤタルとは、あなたと共にあそこにいるではないか。それゆえ、あなたは王の家から聞くことをことごとく祭司たち、ザドクとアビヤタルとに告げなさい。
Do you not have Zadok and Abiathar the priests there with you? Therefore it shall be, that whatever thing you shall hear out of the king's house, you shall tell it to Zadok and Abiathar the priests.
36 あそこには彼らと共にそのふたりの子たち、すなわちザドクの子アヒマアズとアビヤタルの子ヨナタンとがいる。あなたがたは聞いたことをことごとく彼らの手によってわたしに通報しなさい」。
Look, they have there with them their two sons, Ahimaaz, Zadok's son, and Jonathan, Abiathar's son; and by them you shall send to me everything that you shall hear."
37 そこでダビデの友ホシャイは町にはいった。その時アブサロムはすでにエルサレムにはいっていた。
So Hushai, David's friend, came into the city; and Absalom came into Jerusalem.
