サムエル記Ⅱ 12
1 主はナタンをダビデにつかわされたので、彼はダビデの所にきて言った、「ある町にふたりの人があって、ひとりは富み、ひとりは貧しかった。
Yahweh sent Nathan to David. He came to him, and said to him, “There were two men in one city: the one rich, and the other poor.
2 富んでいる人は非常に多くの羊と牛を持っていたが、
The rich man had very many flocks and herds,
3 貧しい人は自分が買った一頭の小さい雌の小羊のほかは何も持っていなかった。彼がそれを育てたので、その小羊は彼および彼の子供たちと共に成長し、彼の食物を食べ、彼のわんから飲み、彼のふところで寝て、彼にとっては娘のようであった。
but the poor man had nothing, except one little ewe lamb, which he had bought and raised. It grew up together with him and with his children. It ate of his own food, drank of his own cup, and lay in his bosom, and was like a daughter to him.
4 時に、ひとりの旅びとが、その富んでいる人のもとにきたが、自分の羊または牛のうちから一頭を取って、自分の所にきた旅びとのために調理することを惜しみ、その貧しい人の小羊を取って、これを自分の所にきた人のために調理した」。
A traveler came to the rich man, and he didn’t want to take of his own flock and of his own herd to prepare for the wayfaring man who had come to him, but took the poor man’s lamb and prepared it for the man who had come to him.”
5 ダビデはその人の事をひじょうに怒ってナタンに言った、「主は生きておられる。この事をしたその人は死ぬべきである。
David’s anger burned hot against the man, and he said to Nathan, “As Yahweh lives, the man who has done this deserves to die!
6 かつその人はこの事をしたため、またあわれまなかったため、その小羊を四倍にして償わなければならない」。
He must restore the lamb fourfold, because he did this thing and because he had no pity!”
7 ナタンはダビデに言った、「あなたがその人です。イスラエルの神、主はこう仰せられる、『わたしはあなたに油を注いでイスラエルの王とし、あなたをサウルの手から救いだし、
Nathan said to David, “You are the man! This is what Yahweh, the God of Israel, says: ‘I anointed you king over Israel, and I delivered you out of the hand of Saul.
8 あなたに主人の家を与え、主人の妻たちをあなたのふところに与え、またイスラエルとユダの家をあなたに与えた。もし少なかったならば、わたしはもっと多くのものをあなたに増し加えたであろう。
I gave you your master’s house and your master’s wives into your bosom, and gave you the house of Israel and of Judah; and if that would have been too little, I would have added to you many more such things.
9 どうしてあなたは主の言葉を軽んじ、その目の前に悪事をおこなったのですか。あなたはつるぎをもってヘテびとウリヤを殺し、その妻をとって自分の妻とした。すなわちアンモンの人々のつるぎをもって彼を殺した。
Why have you despised Yahweh’s word, to do that which is evil in his sight? You have struck Uriah the Hittite with the sword, have taken his wife to be your wife, and have slain him with the sword of the children of Ammon.
10 あなたがわたしを軽んじてヘテびとウリヤの妻をとり、自分の妻としたので、つるぎはいつまでもあなたの家を離れないであろう』。
Now therefore the sword will never depart from your house, because you have despised me and have taken Uriah the Hittite’s wife to be your wife.’
11 主はこう仰せられる、『見よ、わたしはあなたの家からあなたの上に災を起すであろう。わたしはあなたの目の前であなたの妻たちを取って、隣びとに与えるであろう。その人はこの太陽の前で妻たちと一緒に寝るであろう。
“This is what Yahweh says: ‘Behold, I will raise up evil against you out of your own house; and I will take your wives before your eyes and give them to your neighbor, and he will lie with your wives in the sight of this sun.
12 あなたはひそかにそれをしたが、わたしは全イスラエルの前と、太陽の前にこの事をするのである』」。
For you did this secretly, but I will do this thing before all Israel, and before the sun.’”
13 ダビデはナタンに言った、「わたしは主に罪をおかしました」。ナタンはダビデに言った、「主もまたあなたの罪を除かれました。あなたは死ぬことはないでしょう。
David said to Nathan, “I have sinned against Yahweh.” Nathan said to David, “Yahweh also has put away your sin. You will not die.
14 しかしあなたはこの行いによって大いに主を侮ったので、あなたに生れる子供はかならず死ぬでしょう」。
However, because by this deed you have given great occasion to Yahweh’s enemies to blaspheme, the child also who is born to you will surely die.”
15 こうしてナタンは家に帰った。さて主は、ウリヤの妻がダビデに産んだ子を撃たれたので、病気になった。
Then Nathan departed to his house. Yahweh struck the child that Uriah’s wife bore to David, and he was very sick.
16 ダビデはその子のために神に嘆願した。すなわちダビデは断食して、へやにはいり終夜地に伏した。
David therefore begged God for the child; and David fasted, and went in and lay all night on the ground.
17 ダビデの家の長老たちは、彼のかたわらに立って彼を地から起そうとしたが、彼は起きようとはせず、また彼らと一緒に食事をしなかった。
The elders of his house arose beside him, to raise him up from the earth; but he would not, and he didn’t eat bread with them.
18 七日目にその子は死んだ。ダビデの家来たちはその子が死んだことをダビデに告げるのを恐れた。それは彼らが、「見よ、子のなお生きている間に、われわれが彼に語ったのに彼はその言葉を聞きいれなかった。どうして彼にその子の死んだことを告げることができようか。彼は自らを害するかも知れない」と思ったからである。
On the seventh day, the child died. David’s servants were afraid to tell him that the child was dead, for they said, “Behold, while the child was yet alive, we spoke to him and he didn’t listen to our voice. How will he then harm himself if we tell him that the child is dead?”
19 しかしダビデは、家来たちが互にささやき合うのを見て、その子の死んだのを悟り、家来たちに言った、「子は死んだのか」。彼らは言った、「死なれました」。
But when David saw that his servants were whispering together, David perceived that the child was dead; and David said to his servants, “Is the child dead?” They said, “He is dead.”
20 そこで、ダビデは地から起き上がり、身を洗い、油をぬり、その着物を替えて、主の家にはいって拝した。そののち自分の家に行き、求めて自分のために食物を備えさせて食べた。
Then David arose from the earth, and washed and anointed himself, and changed his clothing; and he came into Yahweh’s house, and worshiped. Then he came to his own house; and when he requested, they set bread before him and he ate.
21 家来たちは彼に言った、「あなたのなさったこの事はなんでしょうか。あなたは子の生きている間はその子のために断食して泣かれました。しかし子が死ぬと、あなたは起きて食事をなさいました」。
Then his servants said to him, “What is this that you have done? You fasted and wept for the child while he was alive, but when the child was dead, you rose up and ate bread.”
22 ダビデは言った、「子の生きている間に、わたしが断食して泣いたのは、『主がわたしをあわれんで、この子を生かしてくださるかも知れない』と思ったからです。
He said, “While the child was yet alive, I fasted and wept; for I said, ‘Who knows whether Yahweh will not be gracious to me, that the child may live?’
23 しかし今は死んだので、わたしはどうして断食しなければならないでしょうか。わたしは再び彼をかえらせることができますか。わたしは彼の所に行くでしょうが、彼はわたしの所に帰ってこないでしょう」。
But now he is dead. Why should I fast? Can I bring him back again? I will go to him, but he will not return to me.”
24 ダビデは妻バテシバを慰め、彼女の所にはいって、彼女と共に寝たので、彼女は男の子を産んだ。ダビデはその名をソロモンと名づけた。主はこれを愛された。
David comforted Bathsheba his wife, and went in to her, and lay with her. She bore a son, and he called his name Solomon. Yahweh loved him;
25 そして預言者ナタンをつかわし、命じてその名をエデデアと呼ばせられた。
and he sent by the hand of Nathan the prophet, and he named him Jedidiah, for Yahweh’s sake.
26 さてヨアブはアンモンの人々のラバを攻めて王の町を取った。
Now Joab fought against Rabbah of the children of Ammon, and took the royal city.
27 ヨアブは使者をダビデにつかわして言った、「わたしはラバを攻めて水の町を取りました。
Joab sent messengers to David, and said, “I have fought against Rabbah. Yes, I have taken the city of waters.
28 あなたは今、残りの民を集め、この町に向かって陣をしき、これを取りなさい。わたしがこの町を取って、人がわたしの名をもって、これを呼ぶようにならないためです」。
Now therefore gather the rest of the people together, and encamp against the city and take it; lest I take the city, and it be called by my name.”
29 そこでダビデは民をことごとく集めてラバへ行き、攻めてこれを取った。
David gathered all the people together and went to Rabbah, and fought against it and took it.
30 そしてダビデは彼らの王の冠をその頭から取りはなした。それは金で重さは一タラントであった。宝石がはめてあり、それをダビデの頭に置いた。ダビデはその町からぶんどり物を非常に多く持ち出した。
He took the crown of their king from off his head; and its weight was a talent of gold, and in it were precious stones; and it was set on David’s head. He brought a great quantity of plunder out of the city.
31 またダビデはそのうちの民を引き出して、彼らをのこぎりや、鉄のつるはし、鉄のおのを使う仕事につかせ、また、れんが造りの労役につかせた。彼はアンモンの人々のすべての町にこのようにした。そしてダビデと民とは皆エルサレムに帰った。
He brought out the people who were in it, and put them to work under saws, under iron picks, under axes of iron, and made them go to the brick kiln; and he did so to all the cities of the children of Ammon. Then David and all the people returned to Jerusalem.
