サムエル記Ⅰ 3
1 わらべサムエルは、エリの前で、主に仕えていた。そのころ、主の言葉はまれで、黙示も常ではなかった。
And the child Samuel served Jehovah before Eli. And the word of Jehovah was precious in those days; there was no frequent vision.
2 さてエリは、しだいに目がかすんで、見ることができなくなり、そのとき自分のへやで寝ていた。
And it came to pass at that time, when Eli was laid down in his place (now his eyes had begun to grow dim so that he could not see),
3 神のともしびはまだ消えず、サムエルが神の箱のある主の神殿に寝ていた時、
and the lamp of God was not yet gone out, and Samuel was laid down in the temple of Jehovah where the ark of God was,
4 主は「サムエルよ、サムエルよ」と呼ばれた。彼は「はい、ここにおります」と言って、
that Jehovah called Samuel. And he said, Here I am.
5 エリの所へ走っていって言った、「あなたがお呼びになりました。わたしは、ここにおります」。しかしエリは言った、「わたしは呼ばない。帰って寝なさい」。彼は行って寝た。
And he ran to Eli, and said, Here I am, for thou called me. And he said, I did not call. Lie down again. And he went and lay down.
6 主はまたかさねて「サムエルよ、サムエルよ」と呼ばれた。サムエルは起きてエリのもとへ行って言った、「あなたがお呼びになりました。わたしは、ここにおります」。エリは言った、「子よ、わたしは呼ばない。もう一度寝なさい」。
And Jehovah called yet again, Samuel. And Samuel arose and went to Eli, and said, Here I am, for thou called me. And he answered, I did not call, my son. Lie down again.
7 サムエルはまだ主を知らず、主の言葉がまだ彼に現されなかった。
Now Samuel did not yet know Jehovah, neither was the word of Jehovah yet revealed to him.
8 主はまた三度目にサムエルを呼ばれたので、サムエルは起きてエリのもとへ行って言った、「あなたがお呼びになりました。わたしは、ここにおります」。その時、エリは主がわらべを呼ばれたのであることを悟った。
And Jehovah called Samuel again the third time. And he arose and went to Eli, and said, Here I am, for thou called me. And Eli perceived that Jehovah had called the child.
9 そしてエリはサムエルに言った、「行って寝なさい。もしあなたを呼ばれたら、『しもべは聞きます。主よ、お話しください』と言いなさい」。サムエルは行って自分の所で寝た。
Therefore Eli said to Samuel, Go, lie down, and it shall be, if he calls thee, that thou shall say, Speak, Jehovah, for thy servant hears. So Samuel went and lay down in his place.
10 主はきて立ち、前のように、「サムエルよ、サムエルよ」と呼ばれたので、サムエルは言った、「しもべは聞きます。お話しください」。
And Jehovah came, and stood, and called as at other times, Samuel, Samuel. Then Samuel said, Speak, for thy servant hears.
11 その時、主はサムエルに言われた、「見よ、わたしはイスラエルのうちに一つの事をする。それを聞く者はみな、耳が二つとも鳴るであろう。
And Jehovah said to Samuel, Behold, I will do a thing in Israel at which both the ears of everyone who hears it shall tingle.
12 その日には、わたしが、かつてエリの家について話したことを、はじめから終りまでことごとく、エリに行うであろう。
In that day I will perform against Eli all that I have spoken concerning his house, from the beginning even to the end.
13 わたしはエリに、彼が知っている悪事のゆえに、その家を永久に罰することを告げる。その子らが神をけがしているのに、彼がそれをとめなかったからである。
For I have told him that I will judge his house forever, for the iniquity which he knew, because his sons brought a curse upon themselves, and he did not restrain them.
14 それゆえ、わたしはエリの家に誓う。エリの家の悪は、犠牲や供え物をもってしても、永久にあがなわれないであろう」。
And therefore I have sworn to the house of Eli that the iniquity of Eli's house shall not be expiated with sacrifice nor offering forever.
15 サムエルは朝まで寝て、主の宮の戸をあけたが、サムエルはその幻のことをエリに語るのを恐れた。
And Samuel lay until the morning, and opened the doors of the house of Jehovah. And Samuel was afraid to show Eli the vision.
16 しかしエリはサムエルを呼んで言った、「わが子サムエルよ」。サムエルは言った、「はい、ここにおります」。
Then Eli called Samuel, and said, Samuel, my son. And he said, Here I am.
17 エリは言った、「何事をお告げになったのか。隠さず話してください。もしお告げになったことを一つでも隠して、わたしに言わないならば、どうぞ神があなたを罰し、さらに重く罰せられるように」。
And he said, What is the thing that Jehovah has spoken to thee? I pray thee, hide it not from me. God do so to thee, and more also, if thou hide anything from me of all the things that he spoke to thee.
18 そこでサムエルは、その事をことごとく話して、何も彼に隠さなかった。エリは言った、「それは主である。どうぞ主が、良いと思うことを行われるように」。
And Samuel told him every whit, and hid nothing from him. And he said, It is Jehovah. Let him do what seems him good.
19 サムエルは育っていった。主が彼と共におられて、その言葉を一つも地に落ちないようにされたので、
And Samuel grew, and Jehovah was with him, and let none of his words fall to the ground.
20 ダンからベエルシバまで、イスラエルのすべての人は、サムエルが主の預言者と定められたことを知った。
And all Israel from Dan even to Beersheba knew that Samuel was established to be a prophet of Jehovah.
21 主はふたたびシロで現れられた。すなわち主はシロで、主の言葉によって、サムエルに自らを現された。こうしてサムエルの言葉は、あまねくイスラエルの人々に及んだ。
And Jehovah appeared again in Shiloh, for Jehovah revealed himself to Samuel in Shiloh by the word of Jehovah.
