ヨハネの手紙第一 2
1 わたしの子たちよ。これらのことを書きおくるのは、あなたがたが罪を犯さないようになるためである。もし、罪を犯す者があれば、父のみもとには、わたしたちのために助け主、すなわち、義なるイエス・キリストがおられる。
My little sons, this I write to you, so that you may not sin. But if anyone has sinned, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ, the Just One.
2 彼は、わたしたちの罪のための、あがないの供え物である。ただ、わたしたちの罪のためばかりではなく、全世界の罪のためである。
And he is the propitiation for our sins. And not only for our sins, but also for those of the whole world.
3 もし、わたしたちが彼の戒めを守るならば、それによって彼を知っていることを悟るのである。
And we can be sure that we have known him by this: if we observe his commandments.
4 「彼を知っている」と言いながら、その戒めを守らない者は、偽り者であって、真理はその人のうちにない。
Whoever claims that he knows him, and yet does not keep his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
5 しかし、彼の御言を守る者があれば、その人のうちに、神の愛が真に全うされるのである。それによって、わたしたちが彼にあることを知るのである。
But whoever keeps his word, truly in him the charity of God is perfected. And by this we know that we are in him.
6 「彼におる」と言う者は、彼が歩かれたように、その人自身も歩くべきである。
Whoever declares himself to remain in him, ought to walk just as he himself walked.
7 愛する者たちよ。わたしがあなたがたに書きおくるのは、新しい戒めではなく、あなたがたが初めから受けていた古い戒めである。その古い戒めとは、あなたがたがすでに聞いた御言である。
Most beloved, I am not writing to you a new commandment, but the old commandment, which you had from the beginning. The old commandment is the Word, which you have heard.
8 しかも、新しい戒めを、あなたがたに書きおくるのである。そして、それは、彼にとってもあなたがたにとっても、真理なのである。なぜなら、やみは過ぎ去り、まことの光がすでに輝いているからである。
Then too, I am writing to you a new commandment, which is the Truth in him and in you. For the darkness has passed away, and the true Light is now shining.
9 「光の中にいる」と言いながら、その兄弟を憎む者は、今なお、やみの中にいるのである。
Whoever declares himself to be in the light, and yet hates his brother, is in the darkness even now.
10 兄弟を愛する者は、光におるのであって、つまずくことはない。
Whoever loves his brother abides in the light, and there is no cause of offense in him.
11 兄弟を憎む者は、やみの中におり、やみの中を歩くのであって、自分ではどこへ行くのかわからない。やみが彼の目を見えなくしたからである。
But whoever hates his brother is in the darkness, and in darkness he walks, and he does not know where he is going. For the darkness has blinded his eyes.
12 子たちよ。あなたがたにこれを書きおくるのは、御名のゆえに、あなたがたの多くの罪がゆるされたからである。
I am writing to you, little sons, because your sins are forgiven for the sake of his name.
13 父たちよ。あなたがたに書きおくるのは、あなたがたが、初めからいますかたを知ったからである。若者たちよ。あなたがたに書きおくるのは、あなたがたが、悪しき者にうち勝ったからである。
I am writing to you, fathers, because you have known him who is from the beginning. I am writing to you, adolescents, because you have overcome the evil one.
14 子供たちよ。あなたがたに書きおくったのは、あなたがたが父を知ったからである。父たちよ。あなたがたに書きおくったのは、あなたがたが、初めからいますかたを知ったからである。若者たちよ。あなたがたに書きおくったのは、あなたがたが強い者であり、神の言があなたがたに宿り、そして、あなたがたが悪しき者にうち勝ったからである。
I am writing to you, little children, because you have known the Father. I am writing to you, young men, because you are strong, and the Word of God abides in you, and you have overcome the evil one.
15 世と世にあるものとを、愛してはいけない。もし、世を愛する者があれば、父の愛は彼のうちにない。
Do not choose to love the world, nor the things that are in the world. If anyone loves the world, the charity of the Father is not in him.
16 すべて世にあるもの、すなわち、肉の欲、目の欲、持ち物の誇は、父から出たものではなく、世から出たものである。
For all that is in the world is the desire of the flesh, and the desire of the eyes, and the arrogance of a life which is not of the Father, but is of the world.
And the world is passing away, with its desire. But whoever does the will of God abides unto eternity. (aiōn g165)
18 子供たちよ。今は終りの時である。あなたがたがかねて反キリストが来ると聞いていたように、今や多くの反キリストが現れてきた。それによって今が終りの時であることを知る。
Little sons, it is the last hour. And, as you have heard that the Antichrist is coming, so now many antichrists have arrived. By this, we know that it is the last hour.
19 彼らはわたしたちから出て行った。しかし、彼らはわたしたちに属する者ではなかったのである。もし属する者であったなら、わたしたちと一緒にとどまっていたであろう。しかし、出て行ったのは、元来、彼らがみなわたしたちに属さない者であることが、明らかにされるためである。
They went out from among us, but they were not of us. For, if they had been of us, certainly they would have remained with us. But in this way, it is made manifest that none of them are of us.
20 しかし、あなたがたは聖なる者に油を注がれているので、あなたがたすべてが、そのことを知っている。
Yet you have the anointing of the Holy One, and you know everything.
21 わたしが書きおくったのは、あなたがたが真理を知らないからではなく、それを知っているからであり、また、すべての偽りは真理から出るものでないことを、知っているからである。
I have not written to you as to ones who are ignorant of the truth, but as to ones who know the truth. For no lie is of the truth.
22 偽り者とは、だれであるか。イエスのキリストであることを否定する者ではないか。父と御子とを否定する者は、反キリストである。
Who is a liar, other than he who denies that Jesus is the Christ? This one is the Antichrist, who denies the Father and the Son.
23 御子を否定する者は父を持たず、御子を告白する者は、また父をも持つのである。
No one who denies the Son also has the Father. Whoever confesses the Son, also has the Father.
24 初めから聞いたことが、あなたがたのうちに、とどまるようにしなさい。初めから聞いたことが、あなたがたのうちにとどまっておれば、あなたがたも御子と父とのうちに、とどまることになる。
As for you, let what you have heard from the beginning remain in you. If what you have heard from the beginning remains in you, then you, too, shall abide in the Son and in the Father.
And this is the Promise, which he himself has promised to us: Eternal Life. (aiōnios g166)
26 わたしは、あなたがたを惑わす者たちについて、これらのことを書きおくった。
I have written these things to you, because of those who would seduce you.
27 あなたがたのうちには、キリストからいただいた油がとどまっているので、だれにも教えてもらう必要はない。この油が、すべてのことをあなたがたに教える。それはまことであって、偽りではないから、その油が教えたように、あなたがたは彼のうちにとどまっていなさい。
But as for you, let the Anointing that you have received from him abide in you. And so, you have no need of anyone to teach you. For his Anointing teaches you about everything, and it is the truth, and it is not a lie. And just as his Anointing has taught you, abide in him.
28 そこで、子たちよ。キリストのうちにとどまっていなさい。それは、彼が現れる時に、確信を持ち、その来臨に際して、みまえに恥じいることがないためである。
And now, little sons, abide in him, so that when he appears, we may have faith, and we may not be confounded by him at his advent.
29 彼の義なるかたであることがわかれば、義を行う者はみな彼から生れたものであることを、知るであろう。
If you know that he is just, then know, too, that all who do what is just are born of him.
