1 イスラエルの長子ルベンの子らは次のとおりである。ルベンは長子であったが父の床を汚したので、長子の権はイスラエルの子ヨセフの子らに与えられた。それで長子の権による系図にしるされていない。
And the sons of Reuben the firstborn of Israel (for he was the firstborn, but, inasmuch as he defiled his father's couch, his birthright was given to the sons of Joseph the son of Israel, and so the genealogy is not to be reckoned after the birthright.
2 またユダは兄弟たちにまさる者となり、その中から君たる者がでたが長子の権はヨセフのものとなったのである。
Now Judah prevailed above his brothers, and the ruler came from him, but the birthright was Joseph's),
3 すなわちイスラエルの長子ルベンの子らはハノク、パル、ヘヅロン、カルミ。
the sons of Reuben the firstborn of Israel: Hanoch, and Pallu, Hezron, and Carmi.
4 ヨエルの子らはその子はシマヤ、その子はゴグ、その子はシメイ、
The sons of Joel: Shemaiah his son, Gog his son, Shimei his son,
5 その子はミカ、その子はレアヤ、その子はバアル、
Micah his son, Reaiah his son, Baal his son,
6 その子はベエラである。このベエラはアッスリヤの王テルガテ・ピルネセルが捕え移した者である。彼はルベンびとのつかさであった。
Beerah his son, whom Tilgath-pilneser king of Assyria carried away captive. He was ruler of the Reubenites.
7 彼の兄弟たちは、その氏族により、その歴代の系図によれば、かしらエイエルおよびゼカリヤ、
And his brothers by their families, when the genealogy of their generations was reckoned: the chief, Jeiel, and Zechariah,
8 ベラなどである。ベラはアザズの子、シマの孫、ヨエルのひこである。彼はアロエルに住み、ネボおよびバアル・メオンまで及んでいたが、
and Bela the son of Azaz, the son of Shema, the son of Joel, who dwelt in Aroer, even to Nebo and Baal-meon.
9 ギレアデの地で彼の家畜がふえ増したので、彼は東の方ユフラテ川のこなたの荒野の入口にまで住んだ。
And eastward he dwelt even to the entrance of the wilderness from the river Euphrates, because their cattle were multiplied in the land of Gilead.
10 またサウルの時、彼らはハガルびとと戦って、これを撃ち倒し、ギレアデの東の全部にわたって彼らの天幕に住んだ。
And in the days of Saul they made war with the Hagrites, who fell by their hand, and they dwelt in their tents throughout all the land east of Gilead.
11 ガドの子孫はこれと相対してバシャンの地に住み、サルカまで及んでいた。
And the sons of Gad dwelt opposite them, in the land of Bashan to Salecah:
12 そのかしらはヨエル、次はシャパム、ヤアナイ、シャパテで、ともにバシャンに住んだ。
Joel the chief, and Shapham the second, and Janai, and Shaphat in Bashan.
13 彼らの兄弟たちは、その氏族によればミカエル、メシュラム、シバ、ヨライ、ヤカン、ジア、エベルの七人である。
And their brothers of their fathers' houses: Michael, and Meshullam, and Sheba, and Jorai, and Jacan, and Zia, and Eber, seven.
14 これらはホリの子アビハイルの子らである。ホリはヤロアの子、ヤロアはギレアデの子、ギレアデはミカエルの子、ミカエルはエシサイの子、エシサイはヤドの子、ヤドはブズの子である。
These were the sons of Abihail, the son of Huri, the son of Jaroah, the son of Gilead, the son of Michael, the son of Jeshishai, the son of Jahdo, the son of Buz.
15 アヒはアブデルの子、アブデルはグニの子、グニはその氏族の長である。
Ahi the son of Abdiel, the son of Guni, was chief of their fathers' houses.
16 彼らはギレアデとバシャンとその村里とシャロンのすべての放牧地に住んで、その四方の境にまで及んでいた。
And they dwelt in Gilead in Bashan, and in its towns, and in all the suburbs of Sharon, as far as their borders.
17 これらはみなユダの王ヨタムの世とイスラエルの王ヤラベアムの世に系図にのせられた。
All these were reckoned by genealogies in the days of Jotham king of Judah, and in the days of Jeroboam king of Israel.
18 ルベンびとと、ガドびとと、マナセの半部族には出て戦いうる者四万四千七百六十人あり、皆勇士で、盾とつるぎをとり、弓をひき、戦いに巧みな人々であった。
The sons of Reuben, and the Gadites, and the half-tribe of Manasseh, of valiant men, men able to bear buckler and sword, and to shoot with bow, and skilful in war, were forty-four thousand seven hundred and sixty, who were able to go forth to war.
19 彼らはハガルびとおよびエトル、ネフシ、ノダブなどと戦ったが、
And they made war with the Hagrites, with Jetur, and Naphish, and Nodab.
20 助けを得てこれを攻めたので、ハガルびとおよびこれとともにいた者は皆、彼らの手にわたされた。これは彼らが戦いにあたって神に呼ばわり、神に寄り頼んだので神はその願いを聞かれたからである。
And they were helped against them, and the Hagrites were delivered into their hand, and all that were with them, for they cried to God in the battle, and he was entreated by them because they put their trust in him.
21 彼らはその家畜を奪い取ったが、らくだ五万、羊二十五万、ろば二千あり、また人は十万人あった。
And they took away their cattle: of their camels fifty thousand, and of sheep two hundred and fifty thousand, and of donkeys two thousand, and of men a hundred thousand.
22 これはその戦いが神によったので、多くの者が殺されて倒れたからである。そして彼らは捕え移される時まで、これに代ってその所に住んだ。
For there fell many slain, because the war was of God. And they dwelt in their stead until the captivity.
23 マナセの半部族の人々はこの地に住み、ふえ広がって、ついにバシャンからバアル・ヘルモン、セニルおよびヘルモン山にまで及んだ。
And the sons of the half-tribe of Manasseh dwelt in the land. They increased from Bashan to Baal-hermon and Senir and mount Hermon.
24 その氏族の長たちは次のとおりである。すなわち、エペル、イシ、エリエル、アズリエル、エレミヤ、ホダヤ、ヤデエル。これらは皆その氏族の長で名高い大勇士であった。
And these were the heads of their fathers' houses: even Epher, and Ishi, and Eliel, and Azriel, and Jeremiah, and Hodaviah, and Jahdiel, mighty men of valor, famous men, heads of their fathers' houses.
25 彼らは先祖たちの神にむかって罪を犯し、神が、かつて彼らの前から滅ぼされた国の民の神々を慕って、これと姦淫したので、
And they trespassed against the God of their fathers, and played the harlot after the gods of the peoples of the land, whom God destroyed before them.
26 イスラエルの神は、アッスリヤの王プルの心を奮い起し、またアッスリヤの王テルガテ・ピルネセルの心を奮い起されたので、彼はついにルベンびとと、ガドびとと、マナセの半部族を捕えて行き、ハウラとハボルとハラとゴザン川のほとりに移して今日に至っている。
And the God of Israel stirred up the spirit of Pul king of Assyria, and the spirit of Tilgath-pilneser king of Assyria, and he carried them away, even the Reubenites, and the Gadites, and the half-tribe of Manasseh, and brought them to Halah, and Habor, and Hara, and to the river of Gozan to this day.
