ルカの福音書 4
1 イエスは聖霊に満ちてヨルダンから戻り，霊によって荒野の中を連れ回されて
THEN Jesus full of the Holy Ghost returned from Jordan, and was led by the spirit into the wilderness,
2 四十日に及び，悪魔の誘惑を受けていた。それらの日々の間，何も食べなかった。そののち，その期間が終わると，空腹を感じた。
being tempted forty days by the devil; and did eat nothing during those days: and when they were ended, afterwards he was hungry.
3 悪魔は彼に言った，「もしあなたが神の子なら，この石がパンになるように命じなさい」。
And the devil said to him, If thou art the Son of God, command this stone that it become a loaf.
4 イエスは彼に答えて言った，「『人はパンだけで生きるのではなく，神のすべての言葉によって生きなければならない』と書いてある」 。
And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.”
5 悪魔は彼を高い山の上に連れて行き，またたく間に世のすべての王国を見せた。
And the devil taking him up into an exceeding high mountain, displayed before him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time:
6 悪魔は彼に言った，「このすべての権力とこれらの栄光をあなたに与えよう。それはわたしに渡されており，わたしは自分が望む者にそれを与えるからだ。
and the devil said unto him, I will give thee all this authority, and the glory of these; for to me it is delivered, and to whomsoever I will, I give it.
7 もしあなたがわたしを拝むなら，すべてはあなたのものになるだろう」。
If therefore thou wilt worship before me, all shall be thine.
8 イエスは彼に答えた，「サタンよ，わたしの後ろに下がれ！ 『あなたの神なる主をあなたは崇拝しなければならず，その方だけに仕えなければならない』と書いてあるからだ」 。
And Jesus answering him, said, Get thee behind me, Satan, for it is written, “Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and to him alone shalt thou pay divine honour.”
9 悪魔は彼をエルサレムに連れて来て，神殿の高い所に立たせて，彼に言った，「もしあなたが神の子なら，ここから下に身を投げなさい。
And he brought him to Jerusalem, and set him on a wing of the temple, and said to him, If thou art the Son of God, cast thy self down from hence:
10 こう書いてあるからだ， 『神はあなたについてご自分のみ使いたちに指示をお与えになり，あなたを守られるだろう』，
for it is written, “He shall give his angels a charge over thee, to guard thee safely;
11 そして， 『彼らはその手であなたを支え，あなたが石に足を打ちつけることのないようにする』」。
and that in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.”
12 イエスは答えて彼に言った，「『あなたは，あなたの神なる主を試みてはならない』とも書いてある」 。
And Jesus answering said unto him, It is said, “Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.”
13 悪魔はすべての誘惑を終え，別の時が来るまで彼から離れた。
And when the devil had closed all the temptation, he departed from him for a season.
14 イエスは霊の力のうちにガリラヤに戻ったが，彼についての知らせは周囲の全地方に広がった。
And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee: and a report went out into all the region round about concerning him.
15 すべての人から栄光を与えられながら，彼らの会堂で教えた。
And he taught in their synagogues, being universally admired.
16 自分が育てられたナザレに来た。安息日に自分の習慣どおりに会堂に入り，朗読のために立ち上がった。
And he came to Nazareth, where he was brought up; and he went, according to his usual custom, into the synagogue on the sabbath-day, and rose up to read.
17 預言者イザヤの書が彼に手渡された。彼はその書を開き，こう書かれている箇所を見つけた。
And there was given to him the book of the prophet Isaiah: and unrolling the volume, he found the passage where it is written,
18 「主の霊がわたしの上にある。貧しい者たちに良いたよりを宣教するために，わたしに油を注いでくださったからだ。主はわたしを遣わされた。心の打ち砕かれた者たちをいやすため，捕らわれた者たちに解放を宣明するため，目の見えない者たちに視力の回復を宣明するため，圧迫されている者たちを解放するため，
“The spirit of the Lord is upon me, for the work whereunto he hath anointed me; he hath sent me to preach glad tidings to the poor; to heal the contrite in heart; to proclaim liberty to the captives; and restore sight to the blind; to send forth the bruised free from bonds;
19 そして主の受け入れられる年を宣明するために」。
to publish the acceptable year of the Lord.”
20 その書を閉じ，それを係の者に返して，腰を下ろした。会堂にいる皆の目が彼に注がれた。
And rolling up the volume, he gave it to the attendant officer, and sat down. And the eyes of all who were in the synagogue were attentively fixed on him.
21 彼は彼らに告げ始めた，「この聖句は，あなた方が耳にしたこの日に果たされた」 。
And he began to say to them, To day this scripture is fulfilled in your ears.
22 皆は彼について良い証言をし，彼の口から出て行く数々の恵み深い言葉に驚いた。そして言った，「これはヨセフの子ではないか」。
And all concurred in their testimony to him, and marvelled at the gracious words which proceeded from his mouth. And they said, Is not this the son of Joseph?
23 彼は彼らに言った，「あなた方はきっとこのたとえをわたしに告げるだろう，『医者よ，自分自身を治せ！ カペルナウムでなされたと聞いたことすべてを，ここ，あなたの故郷でもやってくれ』」 。
And he said unto them, Ye will probably say to me this parable, Physician, heal thyself! the works which we have heard to have been performed by thee at Capernaum, do the like here in thy own country.
24 彼は言った，「本当にはっきりとあなた方に告げるが，自分の故郷で受け入れられた預言者はいない。
But he said, Verily, I say unto you, that no prophet is acceptable in his own country.
25 そして，本当にあなた方に告げるが，エリヤの日々，天が三年と六か月の間閉じられ，大ききんが全地を襲ったとき，イスラエルには多くのやもめがいた。
Now I tell you of a certainty, that there were many widows in the days of Elias, in Israel, when the heaven was shut up three years and six months, so that a grievous famine was upon all the land.
26 エリヤはそのうちのだれのもとにも遣わされず，ただシドンの地のザレファツに，やもめである一人の女のもとにだけ遣わされた。
And unto none of them was Elias sent, but unto Sarepta, a city of Sidon, to a widow woman.
27 預言者エリシャの時に，イスラエルには多くのらい病人がいたが，彼らのうち一人も清められず，ただシリア人ナアマンだけが清められた」 。
And many lepers were in Israel in the days of the prophet Elisha, and no one of them was cleansed, but Naaman the Syrian.
28 これらの事柄を耳にして，会堂にいた彼らは皆憤りに満たされた。
And they were all filled with rage in the synagogue, when they heard these observations:
29 立ち上がって，彼を町の外に投げ出し，彼らの町の建っている丘のがけっぷちまで連れて行き，彼を絶壁から投げ落とそうとした。
and rising up, dragged him out of the city, and led him to the brow of the hill, on which their city was built, in order to cast him down headlong:
30 しかし彼は，彼らの真ん中を通り抜けて，去って行った。
but he passing through the midst of them, went away.
31 ガリラヤの町カペルナウムに下って行った。安息日に彼らを教えていたが，
And he came down to Capernaum, a city of Galilee, and was teaching them on the sabbath.
32 人々は彼の教えに驚いた。その言葉には権威があったからである。
And they were struck with astonishment at his teaching; for his discourse was with authority.
33 会堂には汚れた悪霊の霊に付かれた男がいて，大声で叫んで
And there was in the synagogue a man, who had a spirit of an unclean devil, and he roared out with a great cry,
34 言った，「ああ！ ナザレ人イエスよ，わたしたちはあなたと何のかかわりがあるのか。わたしたちを滅ぼしに来たのか。わたしはあなたがだれだか知っている。神の聖なる方だ！」
saying, Let us alone; what have we to do with thee, Jesus the Nazarean? art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art; the Holy One of God.
35 イエスは彼をしかりつけて言った，「黙れ。この人から出て行け！」 悪霊は，人々の真ん中にその人を投げ倒すと，傷を負わせずに彼から出て行った。
And Jesus rebuked him, saying, Stop thy mouth, and come out of him. And the devil throwing him down into the midst, came out of him, doing him no injury.
36 驚きがすべての者に臨み，人々は互いに語り合って言った，「この言葉はいったい何だ。彼は汚れた霊に権威と力をもって命じる。すると彼らはこの人から出て行くのだ！」
And amazement seized on all present, and they spake one to another, saying, What a word is this? for with authority and power he commandeth the unclean spirits, and they come out.
37 彼についての知らせは，周囲の地方の至る所に伝わった。
And the fame of him went forth into all the adjacent region.
38 彼は会堂から立ち上がり，シモンの家に入った。シモンのしゅうとめが高い熱で苦しんでいて，人々は彼女のことで彼に懇願した。
Then rising up out of the synagogue, he came into the house of Simon: and Simon’s mother-in-law was seized with a violent fever, and they besought him on her behalf.
39 彼は彼女のそばに立ち，熱をしかりつけた。すると熱は引いた。すぐに彼女は起き上がって彼らに仕えた。
And standing over her, he charged the fever to depart; and it left her: and immediately she arose, and waited upon them.
40 日が沈むと，さまざまな疾患を持つ病人を抱えている者たちが皆，彼らを彼のもとに連れて来た。彼は，そのひとりひとりの上に両手を置いて，彼らをいやした。
So when the sun was set, all who had any indisposed with various diseases, brought them to him; and laying his hands severally on each of them, he cured them.
41 悪霊たちも，「あなたは神の子キリストだ！」と叫んで言いながら，多くの人々から出て来た。彼は彼らをしかりつけ，彼らが語ることを許さなかった。彼らが彼はキリストだと知っていたからである。
And devils also went out of many, crying out, and saying, Thou art the Messiah the Son of God. And rebuking them, he suffered them not to speak: for they knew that he was the Messiah.
42 朝になると，彼は出発し，人の住んでいない場所に行ったが，群衆が彼を探し回り，彼のもとにやって来て，自分たちのところから去って行かないよう彼を引き留めた。
And as the day was coming on, he went forth and departed into a desert place: and the multitude sought him out, and came to him, and would have detained him that he should not leave them.
43 しかし，彼は彼らに言った，「わたしはほかの町々にも神の王国の良いたよりを宣教しなければならない。わたしはそのために遣わされたからだ」 。
But he said unto them, I must preach the glad tidings of the kingdom of heaven in other cities also: for on this service am I sent.
44 そして，ガリラヤの諸会堂で宣教していた。
And he continued preaching in the synagogues of Galilee.
