ヨブ 記 23

1 ヨブこたへて曰く

Then Job answered and said,

2 我は今日にても尚つぶやきて服せず わが禍災はわが嘆息よりも重し

Even to day is my complaint bitter: my stroke is heavier than my groaning.

3 ねがはくは神をたづねて何處にか遇まつるを知り其御座に參いたらんことを

Oh that I knew where I might find him! that I might come even to his seat!

4 我この愁訴をその御前に陳べ口を極めて辨論はん

I would order my cause before him, and fill my mouth with arguments.

5 我その我に答へたまふ言を知り また其われに言たまふ所を了らん

I would know the words which he would answer me, and understand what he would say unto me.

6 かれ大なる能をもて我と爭ひたまはんや 然らじ反つて我を眷みたまふべし

Will he plead against me with his great power? No; but he would put strength in me.

7 彼處にては正義人かれと辨爭ふことを得 斯せば我を鞫く者の手を永く免かるべし

There the righteous might dispute with him; so should I be delivered for ever from my judge.

8 しかるに我東に往くも彼いまさず 西に往くも亦見たてまつらず

Behold, I go forward, but he is not there; and backward, but I cannot perceive him:

9 北に工作きたまへども遇まつらず 南に隱れ居たまへば望むべからず

On the left hand, where he does work, but I cannot behold him: he hides himself on the right hand, that I cannot see him:

10 わが平生の道は彼知たまふ 彼われを試みたまはば我は金のごとくして出きたらん

But he knows the way that I take: when he has tried me, I shall come forth as gold.

11 わが足は彼の歩履に堅く隨がへり 我はかれの道を守りて離れざりき

My foot has held his steps, his way have I kept, and not declined.

12 我はかれの唇の命令に違はず 我が法よりも彼の口の言語を重ぜり

Neither have I gone back from the commandment of his lips; I have esteemed the words of his mouth more than my necessary food.

13 かれは一に居る者にまします 誰か能かれをして意を變しめん 彼はその心に慾する所をかならず爲たまふ

But he is in one mind, and who can turn him? and what his soul desires, even that he does.

14 然ば我に向ひて定めし事を必らず成就たまはん 是のごとき事を多く彼は爲たまふなり

For he performs the thing that is appointed for me: and many such things are with him.

15 是故に我かれの前に慄ふ 我考ふれば彼を懼る

Therefore am I troubled at his presence: when I consider, I am afraid of him.

16 神わが心を弱くならしめ 全能者われをして懼れしめたまふ

For God makes my heart soft, and the Almighty troubles me:

17 かく我は暗の來らぬ先わが面を黑暗の覆ふ前に打絶れざりき

Because I was not cut off before the darkness, neither has he covered the darkness from my face.
