列王記Ⅰ 12

1 爰にレハベアム、シケムに往り其はイスラエル皆彼を王と爲んとてシケムに至りたればなり

And Rehoboam went to Shechem: for all Israel were come to Shechem to make him king.

2 ネバテの子ヤラベアム尚エジブトに在て聞りヤラベアムはソロモン王の面をさけて逃さりエジプトに住居たるなり

And it came to pass, when Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who was yet in Egypt, heard of it, (for he was fled from the presence of king Solomon, and Jeroboam dwelt in Egypt; )

3 時に人衆人を遣はして彼を招けり斯てヤラベアムとイスラエルの會衆皆來りてレハベアムに告て言けるは

That they sent and called him. And Jeroboam and all the congregation of Israel came, and spoke unto Rehoboam, saying,

4 汝の父我儕の軛を難くせり然ども爾今爾の父の難き役と爾の父の我儕に蒙らせたる重き軛を軽くせよ然ば我儕爾に事へん

Your father made our yoke grievous: now therefore make you the grievous service of your father, and his heavy yoke which he put upon us, lighter, and we will serve you.

5 レハベアム彼等に言けるは去て三日を經て再び我に來れと民乃ち去り

And he said unto them, Depart yet for three days, then come again to me. And the people departed.

6 レハベアム王其父ソロモンの生る間其前に立たる老人等と計りていひけるは爾等如何に敎へて此民に答へしむるや

And king Rehoboam consulted with the old men, that stood before Solomon his father while he yet lived, and said, How do all of you advise that I may answer this people?

7 彼等レハベアムに告て言けるは爾若今日此民の僕となり之に事へて之に答へ善き言を之に語らば彼等永く爾の僕となるべしと

And they spoke unto him, saying, If you will be a servant unto this people this day, and will serve them, and answer them, and speak good words to them, then they will be your servants for ever.

8 然に彼老人の敎へし敎を棄て自己と倶に生長て己のまへに立つ少年等と計れり

But he forsook the counsel of the old men, which they had given him, and consulted with the young men that were grown up with him, and which stood before him:

9 即ち彼等に言けるは爾等何を敎へて我儕をして此我に告て爾の父の我儕に蒙むらせし軛を軽くせよと言ふ民に答へしむるやと

And he said unto them, What counsel give all of you that we may answer this people, who have spoken to me, saying, Make the yoke which your father did put upon us lighter?

10 彼と偕に生長たる少年彼に告ていひけるは爾に告て爾の父我儕の軛を重くしたれど爾これを我儕のために軽くせよと言たる此民に爾斯言ベし我が小指はわが父の腰よりも太し

And the young men that were grown up with him spoke unto him, saying, Thus shall you speak unto this people that spoke unto you, saying, Your father made our yoke heavy, but make you it lighter unto us; thus shall you say unto them, My little finger shall be thicker than my father's loins.

11 またわが父爾等に重き軛を負せたりしが我は更に爾等の軛を重くせん我父は鞭にて爾等を懲したれども我は蠍をもて爾等を懲んと爾斯彼等に告べしと

And now whereas my father did load you with a heavy yoke, I will add to your yoke: my father has chastised you with whips, but I will chastise you with scorpions.

12 ヤラベアムと民皆王の告て第三日に再び我に來れと言しごとく第三日にレハベアムに詣りしに

So Jeroboam and all the people came to Rehoboam the third day, as the king had appointed, saying, Come to me again the third day.

13 王荒々しく民に答へ老人の敎へし敎を棄て

And the king answered the people roughly, and forsook the old men's counsel that they gave him;

14 少年の敎の如く彼等に告て言けるは我父は爾等の軛を重くしたりしが我は更に爾等の軛を重くせん我父は鞭を以て爾等を懲したれども我は蠍をもて爾等を懲さんと

And spoke to them after the counsel of the young men, saying, My father made your yoke heavy, and I will add to your yoke: my father also chastised you with whips, but I will chastise you with scorpions.

15 王斯民に聽ざりき此事はヱホバより出たる者なり是はヱホバその甞てシロ人アヒヤに由てネバテの子ヤラベアムに告し言をおこなはんとて爲たまへるなり

Wherefore the king hearkened not unto the people; for the cause was from the LORD, that he might perform his saying, which the LORD spoke by Ahijah the Shilonite unto Jeroboam the son of Nebat.

16 かくイスラエル皆王の己に聽ざるを見たり是において民王に答へて言けるは我儕ダビデの中に何の分あらんやヱサイの子の中に產業なしイスラエルよ爾等の天幕に歸れダビデよ今爾の家を視よと而してイスラエルは其天幕に去りゆけり

So when all Israel saw that the king hearkened not unto them, the people answered the king, saying, What portion have we in David? neither have we inheritance in the son of Jesse: to your tents, O Israel: now see to your own house, David. So Israel departed unto their tents.

17 然どもユダの諸邑に住るイスラエルの子孫の上にはレハベアム其王となれり

But as for the children of Israel which dwelt in the cities of Judah, Rehoboam reigned over them.

18 レハベアム王徴募頭なるアドラムを遣はしけるにイスラエル皆石にて彼を撃て死しめたればレハベアム王急ぎて其車に登りエルサレムに逃たり

Then king Rehoboam sent Adoram, who was over the tribute; and all Israel stoned him with stones, that he died. Therefore king Rehoboam made speed to get him up to his chariot, to flee to Jerusalem.

19 斯イスラエル、ダビデの家に背きて今日にいたる

So Israel rebelled against the house of David unto this day.

20 爰にイスラエル皆ヤラベアムの歸りしを聞て人を遣して彼を集會に招き彼をイスラエルの全家の上に王と爲りユダの支派の外はダビデの家に從ふ者なし

And it came to pass, when all Israel heard that Jeroboam was come again, that they sent and called him unto the congregation, and made him king over all Israel: there was none that followed the house of David, but the tribe of Judah only.

21 ソロモンの子レハベアム、エルサレムに至りてユダの全家とベニヤミンの支派の者即ち壯年の武夫十八萬を集む斯してレハベアム國を己に皈さんがためにイスラエルの家と戰はんとせしが

And when Rehoboam was come to Jerusalem, he assembled all the house of Judah, with the tribe of Benjamin, an hundred and fourscore thousand chosen men, which were warriors, to fight against the house of Israel, to bring the kingdom again to Rehoboam the son of Solomon.

22 神の言神の人シマヤに臨みて曰く

But the word of God came unto Shemaiah the man of God, saying,

23 ソロモンの子ユダの王レハベアムおよびユダとベニヤミンの全家並に其餘の民に告て言べし

Speak unto Rehoboam, the son of Solomon, king of Judah, and unto all the house of Judah and Benjamin, and to the remnant of the people, saying,

24 ヱホバ斯言ふ爾等上るべからず爾等の兄弟なるイスラエルの子孫と戰ふべからず各人其家に歸れ此事は我より出たるなりと彼等ヱホバの言を聽きヱホバの言に循ひて轉り去りぬ

Thus says the LORD, All of you shall not go up, nor fight against your brethren the children of Israel: return every man to his house; for this thing is from me. They hearkened therefore to the word of the LORD, and returned to depart, according to the word of the LORD.

25 ヤラベアムはエフライムの山地にシケムを建て其處に住み又其所より出てペヌエルを建たり

Then Jeroboam built Shechem in mount Ephraim, and dwelt therein; and went out from thence, and built Penuel.

26 爰にヤラベアム其心に謂けるは國は今ダビデの家に歸らん

And Jeroboam said in his heart, Now shall the kingdom return to the house of David:

27 若此民エルサレムにあるヱホバの家に禮物を献げんとて上らば此民の心ユダの王なる其主レハベアムに歸りて我を殺しユダの王レハベアムに歸らんと

If this people go up to do sacrifice in the house of the LORD at Jerusalem, then shall the heart of this people return unto their lord, even unto Rehoboam king of Judah, and they shall kill me, and go again to Rehoboam king of Judah.

28 是に於て王計議て二の金の犢を造り人々に言けるは爾らのエルサレムに上ること旣に足りイスラエルよ爾をエジブトの地より導き上りし汝の神を視よと

Whereupon the king took counsel, and made two calves of gold, and said unto them, It is too much for you to go up to Jerusalem: behold your gods, O Israel, which brought you up out of the land of Egypt.

29 而して彼一をベテルに安ゑ一をダンに置り

And he set the one in Bethel, and the other put he in Dan.

30 此事罪となれりそは民ダンに迄往て其一の前に詣たればなり

And this thing became a sin: for the people went to worship before the one, even unto Dan.

31 彼又崇邱の家を建てレビの子孫にあらざる凡民を祭司となせり

And he made an house of high places, and made priests of the low of the people, which were not of the sons of Levi.

32 ヤラベアム八月に節期を定めたり即ち其月の十五日なりユダにある節期に等し而して壇の上に上りたりベテルにて彼斯爲し其作りたる犢に禮物を献げたり又彼其造りたる崇邱の祭司をベテルに立たり

And Jeroboam ordained a feast in the eighth month, on the fifteenth day of the month, like unto the feast that is in Judah, and he offered upon the altar. So did he in Bethel, sacrificing unto the calves that he had made: and he placed in Bethel the priests of the high places which he had made.

33 かく彼其ベテルに造れる壇の上に八月の十五日に上れり是は彼が己の心より造り出したる月なり而してイスラエルの人々のために節期を定め壇の上にのぼりて香を焚り

So he offered upon the altar which he had made in Bethel the fifteenth day of the eighth month, even in the month which he had devised of his own heart; and ordained a feast unto the children of Israel: and he offered upon the altar, and burnt incense.
