Salmi 85
1 Per il Capo de’ musici. Salmo de’ figliuoli di Kore. O Eterno, tu sei stato propizio alla tua terra, tu hai ricondotto Giacobbe dalla cattività.
To the chief music-maker. A Psalm. Of the sons of Korah. Lord, you were good to your land: changing the fate of Jacob.
2 Tu hai perdonato l’iniquità del tuo popolo, hai coperto tutti i loro peccati. (Sela)
The wrongdoing of your people had forgiveness; all their sin had been covered. (Selah)
3 Tu hai acquetato tutto il tuo cruccio, ti sei distolto dall’ardore della tua ira.
You were no longer angry: you were turned from the heat of your wrath.
4 Ristabiliscici, o Dio della nostra salvezza, e fa’ cessar la tua indignazione contro di noi.
Come back to us, O God of our salvation, and be angry with us no longer.
5 Sarai tu adirato contro di noi in perpetuo? Farai tu durar l’ira tua d’età in età?
Will you go on being angry with us for ever? will you keep your wrath against us through all the long generations?
6 Non tornerai tu a ravvivarci, onde il tuo popolo si rallegri in te?
Will you not give us life again, so that your people may be glad in you?
7 Mostraci la tua benignità, o Eterno, e dacci la tua salvezza.
Let us see your mercy, O Lord, and give us your salvation.
8 Io ascolterò quel che dirà Iddio, l’Eterno, poiché egli parlerà di pace al suo popolo ed ai suoi fedeli; ma non ritornino più alla follia!
I will give ear to the voice of the Lord; for he will say words of peace to his people and to his saints; but let them not go back to their foolish ways.
9 Certo, la sua salvezza è vicina a quelli che lo temono, affinché la gloria abiti nel nostro paese.
Truly, his salvation is near to his worshippers; so that glory may be in our land.
10 La benignità e la verità si sono incontrate, la giustizia e la pace si son baciate.
Mercy and faith have come together; righteousness and peace have given one another a kiss.
11 La verità germoglia dalla terra, e la giustizia riguarda dal cielo.
Faith comes up from the earth like a plant; righteousness is looking down from heaven.
12 Anche l’Eterno largirà ogni bene, e la nostra terra produrrà il suo frutto.
The Lord will give what is good; and our land will give its increase.
13 La giustizia camminerà dinanzi a lui, e seguirà la via dei suoi passi.
Righteousness will go before him, making a way for his footsteps.
