Romani 11
1 IO dico adunque: Ha Iddio rigettato il suo popolo? [Così] non sia; perciocchè io ancora sono Israelita, della progenie d'Abrahamo, della tribù di Beniamino.
BUT I say, Hath Aloha put away his people? Not so. For I also am of Israel, of the seed of Abraham, of the tribe of Benyamen.
2 Iddio non ha rigettato il suo popolo, il quale egli ha innanzi conosciuto. Non sapete voi ciò che la scrittura dice nella [storia di] Elia? come egli si richiama a Dio contro ad Israele, dicendo:
Aloha hath not put away his people whom from before he knew. Or know you not what he saith in the scripture concerning Elia,
3 Signore, hanno uccisi i tuoi profeti, ed hanno distrutti i tuoi altari, ed io son rimasto solo; ed anche cercano l'anima mia?
when he cried unto Aloha against Israel, saying, My Lord, thy prophets have they killed, and thy altars overthrown, and I alone am left, and they seek my soul?
4 Ma, che gli disse la voce divina? Io mi son riserbato settemila uomini, che non han piegato il ginocchio all' [idolo] di Baal.
And it was said to him by revelation, Behold, I have left to myself seven thousand men, who upon their knees have not kneeled nor worshipped Baal.
5 Così adunque ancora nel tempo presente è stato lasciato alcun rimanente, secondo l'elezion della grazia.
So also, at this time, a residue is left by the election of grace.
6 E se [è] per grazia, non [è] più per opere; altrimenti, grazia non è più grazia; ma, se [è] per opere, non è più grazia; altrimenti, opera non è più opera.
But if by grace, it is not of works; otherwise grace is not grace. But if by works, it is not of grace; otherwise work is not work.
7 Che dunque? Israele non ha ottenuto quel ch'egli cerca; ma l'elezione l'ha ottenuto, e gli altri sono stati indurati, infino a questo giorno.
What then, That which Israel sought he hath not found; but the election hath found: but the rest of them are blinded in their hearts.
8 Secondo ch'egli è scritto: Iddio ha loro dato uno spirito di stordimento, occhi da non vedere, ed orecchi da non udire.
As it is written, Aloha hath given them the spirit of trouble, And eyes that see not, and ears that hear not, until the present day.
9 E Davide dice: Sia la lor mensa loro in laccio, ed in rete, ed in intoppo, ed in retribuzione.
And David again saith, Let their table become a snare before them, And their reward be for a stumbling-block:
10 Sieno i loro occhi oscurati da non vedere, e piega loro del continuo il dosso.
Let their eyes be darkened, that they may not see, And their back at all times be bowed;
11 Io dico adunque: Si son eglino intoppati acciocchè cadessero? [Così] non sia; anzi, per la lor caduta [è avvenuta] la salute a' Gentili, per provocarli a gelosia.
But I say, Have they stumbled so as to fall? Not so: but, by their stumbling was salvation to the Gentiles, unto their zeal.
12 Ora, se la lor caduta è la ricchezza del mondo, e la lor diminuzione la ricchezza de' Gentili, quanto più [lo sarà] la lor pienezza?
And if their stumbling were wealth to the world, and their condemnation wealth to the Gentiles, how much then will their fulness be?
13 Perciocchè io parlo a voi Gentili; in quanto certo sono apostolo de' Gentili, io onoro il mio ministerio;
To you, Gentiles, I speak, I, who am apostle of the Gentiles, in my ministry I glory,
14 [per provare] se in alcuna maniera posso provocare a gelosia [que' del]la mia carne, e salvare alcuni di loro.
if I may provoke my fleshly kindred, and save some of them.
15 Perciocchè, se il lor rigettamento [è] la riconciliazione del mondo, qual [sarà] la [loro] ammissione, se non vita da' morti?
For if their rejection was the reconciliation of the world, what (will) their conversion (be) but life from the dead?
16 Ora, se le primizie [son] sante, la massa ancora [è santa]; e se la radice è santa, i rami ancora [son santi].
For if the first-fruits be holy, (so) also (will be) the mass; and if the root be holy, (so) also the branches.
17 E se pure alcuni de' rami sono stati troncati, e tu, essendo ulivastro, sei stato innestato in luogo loro, e fatto partecipe della radice, e della grassezza dell'ulivo;
And if the branches were cut off, and thou who art a wild olive art engrafted in their place, and hast a participation of the root and fatness of the olive,
18 non gloriarti contro a' rami; e se pur tu ti glorii contro a [loro], tu non porti la radice, ma la radice [porta] te.
boast not against the branches: but if thou boast, thou bearest not the root, but the root beareth thee.
19 Forse adunque dirai: I rami sono stati troncati, acciocchè io fossi innestato.
And perhaps thou wilt say, The branches were cut off, and I in their place am engrafted:
20 Bene; sono stati troncati per l'incredulità, e tu stai ritto per la fede; non superbir nell'animo tuo, ma temi.
Well, they on account of unbelief were cut off, and thou by faith standest: be not exalted in thy mind, but fear.
21 Perciocchè, se Iddio non ha risparmiati i rami naturali, [guarda] che talora te ancora non risparmi.
If Aloha spared not them who were branches by nature, (take heed) lest he spare not thee.
22 Vedi adunque la benignità, e la severità di Dio: la severità, sopra coloro che son caduti; e la benignità, inverso te, se pur tu perseveri nella benignità; altrimenti, tu ancora sarai reciso.
Behold, then, the goodness and the severity of Aloha: towards them who fell, severity; but towards thee, goodness, if thou continue in his goodness; if not, thou also wilt be cut off.
23 E quelli ancora, se non perseverano nell'incredulità, saranno innestati; perciocchè Iddio è potente da innestarli di nuovo.
And they, if they continue not in their want of faith, they also shall be engrafted; for Aloha is able again to engraft them.
24 Imperocchè, se tu sei stato tagliato dall'ulivo che di natura [era] salvatico, e sei fuor di natura stato innestato nell'ulivo domestico; quanto più costoro, che son [rami] naturali, saranno innestati nel proprio ulivo?
For if thou who art of the wild olive which is thy nature, wast cut off, and, which was not thy nature, art engrafted into the good olive, how much more they, if they are engrafted into the olive of their nature?
25 Perciocchè io non voglio, fratelli, che ignoriate questo misterio (acciocchè non siate presuntuosi in voi stessi), che induramento è avvenuto in parte ad Israele, finchè la pienezza de' Gentili sia entrata.
But I would have you know, my brethren, this mystery, that you may not be wise in your own mind, -that blindness of heart for a little space is unto Israel until the fulness of the Gentiles be brought in:
26 E così tutto Israele sarà salvato, secondo ch'egli è scritto: Il Liberatore verrà di Sion, e torrà [d'innanzi a sè] l'empietà di Giacobbe.
and then all Israel shall be saved. As it is written, The Redeemer shall come from Sion, And turn iniquity from Jakub;
27 E questo [sarà] il patto [che avranno] da me, quando io avrò tolti via i lor peccati.
And then shall be to them my covenant, When I have forgiven them their sins.
28 Ben [son] essi nemici, quant'è all'evangelo, per voi; ma quant'è all'elezione, [sono] amati per i padri.
But, in (regard of) the gospel, they are enemies on your account; and, in the election, they are beloved on account of the fathers.
29 Perciocchè i doni, e la vocazione di Dio son senza pentimento.
For Aloha turneth not in his gift and in his vocation.
30 Imperocchè, siccome ancora voi già eravate disubbidienti a Dio; ma ora avete ottenuta misericordia, per la disubbidienza di costoro;
For as you also were not obedient unto Aloha at the first, and now have received mercy through their disobedience;
31 così ancora costoro al presente sono stati disubbidienti; acciocchè, per la misericordia che vi è stata fatta, essi ancora ottengano misericordia.
so also these are now disobedient for the mercy that is upon you, that upon them also might be mercy.
32 Perciocchè Iddio ha rinchiusi tutti in disubbidienza, acciocchè faccia misericordia a tutti. (eleēsē g1653)
For Aloha hath included them all in disobedience, that upon all he might show mercy. (eleēsē g1653)
33 O PROFONDITÀ di ricchezze, e di sapienza, e di conoscimento di Dio! quanto è impossibile di rinvenire i suoi giudicii, e d'investigar le sue vie!
O the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of Aloha, whose judgments man searcheth not, and whose ways are inscrutable!
34 Perciocchè chi ha conosciuta la mente del Signore? o chi è stato suo consigliere?
For who hath known the mind of the Lord, or who hath been his counsellor?
35 O chi gli ha dato il primiero, e glie[ne] sarà fatta retribuzione?
Or who hath first given to him, that so he should receive from him?
