Salmi 76

1 Salmo di cantico di Asaf, [dato] al Capo de' Musici, sopra Neghinot IDDIO [è] conosciuto in Giuda; Il suo Nome [è] grande in Israele.

For the end, among the Hymns, a Psalm for Asaph; a Song for the Assyrian. God is known in Judea: his name is great in Israel.

2 E il suo tabernacolo è in Salem, E la sua stanza in Sion.

And his place has been in peace, and his dwelling-place in Sion.

3 Quivi ha rotte saette, Archi, scudi, e spade, ed arnesi da guerra. (Sela)

There he broke the power of the bows, the shield, and the sword, and the battle. (Pause)

4 Tu [sei] illustre, potente, Più che i monti dei predatori.

Thou dost wonderfully shine forth from the everlasting mountains.

5 I magnanimi sono stati spogliati, Hanno dormito il sonno loro; E niuno di [quegli] uomini prodi ha saputo trovar le sue mani.

All the simple ones in heart were troubled; all the men of wealth have slept their sleep, and have found nothing in their hands.

6 O Dio di Giacobbe, E carri e cavalli sono stati stupefatti per lo tuo sgridare.

At thy rebuke, O God of Jacob, the riders on horses slumbered.

7 Tu [sei] tremendo; tu, [dico]; E chi durerà davanti a te, dacchè tu ti adiri?

Thou art terrible; and who shall withstand thee, because of thine anger?

8 Tu bandisti giudicio dal cielo; La terra temette, e stette cheta.

Thou didst cause judgment to be heard from heaven; the earth feared, and was still,

9 Quando Iddio si levò per [far] giudicio, Per salvar tutti i mansueti della terra. (Sela)

when God arose to judgment, to save all the meek in heart. (Pause)

10 Certamente l'ira degli uomini ti acquista lode; Tu ti cingerai del rimanente dell'ire.

For the inward thought of man shall give thanks to thee: and the memorial of his inward thought shall keep a feast to thee.

11 Fate voti al Signore Iddio vostro, e adempieteli; Tutti quelli [che sono] d'intorno a lui portino doni al Tremendo.

Vow, and pay [your vows] to the Lord our God; all that are round about him shall bring gifts, [even] to him that is terrible,

12 Egli vendemmia lo spirito de' principi; [Egli è] tremendo ai re della terra.

and that takes away the spirits of princes; to him that is terrible among the kings of the earth.
