Salmi 73
1 Salmo di Asaf CERTAMENTE Iddio [è] buono ad Israele, A [quelli che son] puri di cuore.
BOOK THIRD: “A Psalm of Assaph.” Truly God is good to Israel, to such as are pure of heart.
2 Ora, quant'è a me, quasi che incapparono i miei piedi; Come nulla [mancò] che i miei passi non isdrucciolassero.
But as for me, it lacked but little that my feet had been moved: almost nothing was needed that my steps had slipped.
3 Perciocchè io portava invidia agl'insensati, Veggendo la prosperità degli empi.
For I was envious at the arrogant, when I saw the prosperity of the wicked.
4 Perciocchè non [vi sono] alcuni legami alla lor morte; E la lor forza [è] prosperosa.
For there are no deadly fetters for them, but their strength is firm.
5 [Quando] gli [altri] uomini [sono] in travagli, essi non [vi son] punto; E non ricevono battiture col rimanente degli uomini.
They share not in the trouble of mortals, and with men are they not afflicted.
6 Perciò, la superbia li cinge a giusa di collana; La violenza li involge [come] un vestimento.
Therefore is pride their neck-chain: violence envelopeth them as a garment.
7 Gli occhi escono loro fuori per lo grasso; Avanzano le immaginazioni del cuor [loro].
Their eyes start out from fatness: they have exceeded their heart's imaginings.
8 Son dissoluti, e per malizia ragionano di oppressare; Parlano da alto.
They scorn, and speak wickedly of oppression: loftily do they speak.
9 Mettono la lor bocca dentro al cielo, E la lor lingua passeggia per la terra.
They set their mouth in the heavens, and their tongue walketh busily on the earth.
10 Perciò, il popolo di Dio riviene a questo, [Veggendo che] l'acqua gli è spremuta a bere a pien [calice],
Therefore do his people turn away hither: and waters of a full cup are drained by them.
11 E dice: Come [può essere che] Iddio sappia [ogni cosa], E che vi sia conoscimento nell'Altissimo?
And they say, How should God know? and is there knowledge in the Most High?
12 Ecco, costoro [son] empi, e pur godono pace e tranquillità in perpetuo; Ed accrescono le [lor] facoltà.
Behold, these are the wicked; and yet prospering continually they increase in wealth.
13 Indarno [adunque] in vero ho nettato il mio cuore, Ed ho lavate le mie mani nell'innocenza.
Verily in vain have I thus cleansed my heart, and have washed in innocency my hands:
14 Poichè son battuto tuttodì, Ed ogni mattina il mio gastigamento [si rinnuova].
While I was afflicted all the day, and my chastisement [came] every morning.
15 Se io dico: Io ragionerò così; Ecco, io son disleale inverso la generazione de' tuoi figliuoli.
But if I were to say, I will speak thus: behold, I would be treacherous against the generation of thy children.
16 Io ho adunque pensato di [volere] intender questo; Ma [la cosa] mi è parsa molto molesta.
And when I should think to know this, it would be trouble in my eyes;
17 Infino a tanto che sono entrato ne' santuari di Dio; [Ed] ho considerato il fine di coloro.
Until I enter into the sanctuary of God; and understand what their future will be.
18 Certo, tu li metti in isdruccioli; Tu li trabocchi in ruine.
Surely thou placest them on slippery spots: thou lettest them fall down into destruction.
19 Come sono eglino stati distrutti in un momento! [Come] son venuti meno, e sono stati consumati per casi spaventevoli!
How are they brought into desolation, as in a moment! they perish, they come to their end with terrific events.
20 [Son] come un sogno, dopo che [l'uomo] si è destato; O Signore, quando tu [ti] risveglierai, tu sprezzerai la lor vana apparenza.
As a dream after awaking, O Lord, reject thou in wrath their image.
21 Quando il mio cuore era inacerbito, Ed io era punto nelle reni;
For it fermented in my heart, and in my reins I felt sharp thrusts;
22 Io [era] insensato, e non aveva conoscimento; Io era inverso te [simile] alle bestie.
But I was indeed foolish, and I knew it not: I was as a [thoughtless] beast with thee.
23 Ma pure io sono stato del continuo teco; Tu mi hai preso per la man destra.
Nevertheless I am continually with thee: thou hast seized hold of me by my right hand.
24 Tu mi condurrai per lo tuo consiglio, E poi mi riceverai [in] gloria;
With thy counsel wilt thou guide me, and afterward take me on to glory.
25 Chi [è] per me in cielo, [fuor che te?] Io non voglio [altri] che te in terra.
Whom have I in heaven? and beside thee I desire nothing upon earth.
26 La mia carne ed il mio cuore erano venuti meno: [Ma] Iddio [è] la rocca del mio cuore, e la mia parte in eterno.
Though my flesh and my heart should fall; yet the rock of my heart, and my portion will be God for ever.
27 Perciocchè, ecco, quelli che si allontanano da te periranno; Tu distruggerai ogni uomo che fornica[ndo si svia] da te.
For, lo, those that are far from thee shall perish: thou destroyest every one that strayeth away from thee.
28 Ma quant'è a me, egli mi [è] buono di accostarmi a Dio; Io ho posta nel Signore Iddio la mia confidanza, Per raccontar tutte le opere sue.
But as regardeth me, to draw near to God is good for me: I have put in the Lord Eternal my trust, that I may relate all thy works.
