Salmi 19
1 Salmo di Davide, [dato] al Capo de' Musici I CIELI raccontano la gloria di Dio; E la distesa annunzia l'opera delle sue mani.
To the Overseer. — A Psalm of David. The heavens [are] recounting the honour of God, And the work of His hands The expanse [is] declaring.
2 Un giorno dietro all'altro quelli sgorgano parole; Una notte dietro all'altra dichiarano scienza.
Day to day uttereth speech, And night to night sheweth knowledge.
3 Non [hanno] favella, nè parole; La lor voce non si ode;
There is no speech, and there are no words. Their voice hath not been heard.
4 Ma la lor linea esce fuori per tutta la terra, E le lor parole [vanno] infino all'estremità del mondo. [Iddio] ha posto in essi un tabernacolo al sole;
Into all the earth hath their line gone forth, And to the end of the world their sayings, For the sun He placed a tent in them,
5 Ed egli esce fuori, come uno sposo dalla sua camera di nozze; Egli gioisce, come un [uomo] prode a correr l'aringo.
And he, as a bridegroom, goeth out from his covering, He rejoiceth as a mighty one To run the path.
6 La sua uscita [è] da una estremità de' cieli, E il suo giro [arriva] infino all'[altra] estremità; E niente è nascosto al suo calore.
From the end of the heavens [is] his going out, And his revolution [is] unto their ends, And nothing is hid from his heat.
7 La Legge del Signore [è] perfetta, ella ristora l'anima; La testimonianza del Signore [è] verace, [e] rende savio il semplice.
The law of Jehovah [is] perfect, refreshing the soul, The testimonies of Jehovah [are] stedfast, Making wise the simple,
8 Gli statuti del Signore [son] diritti, [e] rallegrano il cuore; Il comandamento del Signore [è] puro, ed illumina gli occhi.
The precepts of Jehovah [are] upright, Rejoicing the heart, The command of Jehovah [is] pure, enlightening the eyes,
9 Il timor del Signore [è] puro, [e] dimora in eterno; I giudicii del Signore [son] verità, tutti quanti son giusti;
The fear of Jehovah [is] clean, standing to the age, The judgments of Jehovah [are] true, They have been righteous — together.
10 [Sono] più desiderabili che oro, anzi più che gran quantità d'oro finissimo; E più dolci che miele, anzi che quello che stilla da' favi.
They are more desirable than gold, Yea, than much fine gold; and sweeter than honey, Even liquid honey of the comb.
11 Il tuo servitore è eziandio avvisato per essi; [Vi è] gran mercede in osservarli.
Also — Thy servant is warned by them, 'In keeping them [is] a great reward.'
12 Chi conosce i [suoi] errori? Purgami di quelli che [mi] sono occulti.
Errors! who doth understand? From hidden ones declare me innocent,
13 Rattieni eziandio il tuo servitore dalle superbie, E [fa]'che non signoreggino in me; Allora io sarò intiero, e purgato di gran misfatto.
Also — from presumptuous ones keep back Thy servant, Let them not rule over me, Then am I perfect, And declared innocent of much transgression,
14 Sieno grate nel tuo cospetto le parole della mia bocca, E la meditazione del cuor mio, O Signore, mia Rocca, e mio Redentore.
Let the sayings of my mouth, And the meditation of my heart, Be for a pleasing thing before Thee, O Jehovah, my rock, and my redeemer!
