Salmi 143
1 Salmo di Davide SIGNORE, ascolta la mia orazione, Porgi l'orecchio alle mie supplicazioni; Per la tua verità, [e] per la tua giustizia, rispondimi.
A Psalm of David, when his son pursued him. O Lord, attend to my prayer: hearken to my supplication in thy truth; hear me in thy righteousness.
2 E non venire a giudicio col tuo servitore; Perciocchè niun vivente sarà trovato giusto nel tuo cospetto.
And enter not into judgment with thy servant, for in thy sight shall no [man] living be justified.
3 Perciocchè il nemico perseguita l'anima mia; Egli ha fiaccata, ed atterrata la mia vita; Egli mi fa giacere in luoghi tenebrosi, Come quelli che son morti già da lungo tempo.
For the enemy has persecuted my soul; he has brought my life down to the ground; he has made me to dwell in a dark [place], as those that have been long dead.
4 E lo spirito mio spasima in me; Il mio cuore è tutto smarrito dentro di me.
Therefore my spirit was grieved in me; my heart was troubled within me.
5 Io mi rammemoro i giorni antichi; Io medito tutti i tuoi fatti; Io ragiono delle opere delle tue mani.
I remembered the days of old; and I meditated on all thy doings: [yea], I meditated on the works of thine hands.
6 Io spiego a te le mie mani; L'anima mia [è intenta] a te, come terra asciutta. (Sela)
I spread forth my hands to thee; my soul [thirsts] for thee, as a dry land. (Pause)
7 Affrettati a rispondermi, Signore; Lo spirito mio vien meno; Non nasconder da me la tua faccia, Sì che io sia renduto simile a quelli che scendono nella fossa.
Hear me speedily, O Lord; my spirit has failed; turn not away thy face from me, else I shall be like to them that go down to the pit.
8 Fammi sentir la mattina la tua benignità, Perciocchè io mi confido in te; Fammi conoscer la via per la quale ho da camminare, Perciocchè io levo l'anima mia a te.
Cause me to hear thy mercy in the morning; for I have hoped in thee; make known to me, O Lord, the way wherein I should walk; for I have lifted up my soul to thee.
9 Signore, riscuotimi da' miei nemici; Io mi riduco a te per nascondermi.
Deliver me from mine enemies, O Lord; for I have fled to thee for refuge.
10 Insegnami a far la tua volontà; Perciocchè tu [sei] il mio Dio; Il tuo buono Spirito mi giudi nella terra della dirittura.
Teach me to do thy will; for thou art my God; thy good Spirit shall guide me in the straight [way].
11 O Signore, vivificami, per amor del tuo Nome; Tira fuor di distretta l'anima mia, per la tua giustizia.
Thou shalt quicken me, O Lord, for thy name's sake; in thy righteousness thou shalt bring my soul out of affliction.
12 E per la tua benignità, distruggi i miei nemici, E fa' perir tutti quelli che affliggono l'anima mia; Perciocchè io [son] tuo servitore.
And in thy mercy thou wilt destroy mine enemies, and wilt destroy all those that afflict my soul; for I am thy servant.
