Salmi 123

1 Cantico di Maalot IO alzo gli occhi miei a te, Che abiti ne' cieli.

Unto you lift I up mine eyes, O you that dwell in the heavens.

2 Ecco, come i servi [hanno] gli occhi alla mano de' lor padroni; Come la serva [ha] gli occhi alla mano della sua padrona, Così noi [abbiamo] gli occhi nostri al Signore Iddio nostro, Infino a tanto ch'egli abbia pietà di noi.

Behold, as the eyes of servants look unto the hand of their masters, and as the eyes of a maiden unto the hand of her mistress; so our eyes wait upon the LORD our God, until that he have mercy upon us.

3 Abbi pietà di noi, Signore, abbi pietà di noi; Perciocchè noi siamo molto sazii di disprezzo.

Have mercy upon us, O LORD, have mercy upon us: for we are exceedingly filled with contempt.

4 L'anima nostra è grandemente sazia Dello scherno degli [uomini] agiati, dello sprezzo degli altieri.

Our soul is exceedingly filled with the scorning of those that are at ease, and with the contempt of the proud.
