Proverbi 5
1 Figliuol mio, attendi alla mia sapienza, Inchina il tuo orecchio al mio intendimento;
My sonne, hearken vnto my wisedome, and incline thine eare vnto my knowledge.
2 Acciocchè tu osservi gli avvedimenti, E che le tue labbra conservino la scienza.
That thou maiest regarde counsell, and thy lippes obserue knowledge.
3 Perciocchè le labbra della [donna] straniera stillano favi di miele. E il suo palato [è] più dolce che olio;
For the lippes of a strange woman drop as an honie combe, and her mouth is more soft then oyle.
4 Ma il fine di essa [è] amaro come assenzio, Acuto come una spada a due tagli.
But the end of her is bitter as wormewood, and sharpe as a two edged sworde.
Her feete goe downe to death, and her steps take holde on hell. (Sheol h7585)
6 I suoi sentieri sono vaganti, senza che essa sappia ove va, Perchè non considera attentamente la via della vita.
She weigheth not the way of life: her paths are moueable: thou canst not knowe them.
7 Ora dunque, figliuoli, ascoltatemi, E non vi dipartite da' detti della mia bocca.
Heare yee me nowe therefore, O children, and depart not from the wordes of my mouth.
8 Allontana la tua via da essa, E non accostarti all'uscio della sua casa;
Keepe thy way farre from her, and come not neere the doore of her house,
9 Che talora tu non dia il tuo onore agli stranieri, E gli anni tuoi al crudele;
Least thou giue thine honor vnto others, and thy yeeres to the cruell:
10 Che talora i forestieri non si sazino delle tue facoltà; E che le tue fatiche [non vadano] nella casa dello strano;
Least the stranger should be silled with thy strength, and thy labours bee in the house of a stranger,
11 [E che tu non] gema alla fine, Quando la tua carne ed il tuo corpo saranno consumati;
And thou mourne at thine end, (when thou hast consumed thy flesh and thy bodie)
12 E non dica: Come ebbi io in odio l'ammaestramento? E come rigettò il mio cuore la correzione?
And say, How haue I hated instruction, and mine heart despised correction!
13 E [come] non ascoltai la voce di quelli che mi ammaestravano, E non inchinai il mio orecchio a quelli che m'insegnavano?
And haue not obeied the voyce of them that taught mee, nor enclined mine eare to them that instructed me!
14 Quasi che sono stato in ogni male, In mezzo della raunanza e della congregazione.
I was almost brought into all euil in ye mids of the Congregation and assemblie.
15 Bevi delle acque della tua cisterna, E de' ruscelli di mezzo della tua fonte.
Drinke the water of thy cisterne, and of the riuers out of the middes of thine owne well.
16 Spandansi le tue fonti fuori, Ed i ruscelli delle [tue] acque per le piazze.
Let thy fountaines flow foorth, and the riuers of waters in the streetes.
17 Sieno [quelle acque] a te solo, E a niuno strano teco.
But let them bee thine, euen thine onely, and not the strangers with thee.
18 Sia la tua fonte benedetta; E rallegrati della moglie della tua giovanezza.
Let thy fountaine be blessed, and reioyce with the wife of thy youth.
19 [Siati ella] una cerva amorosa, ed una cavriuola graziosa; Inebbrinti le sue mammelle in ogni tempo; Sii del continuo invaghito del suo amore.
Let her be as the louing hinde and pleasant roe: let her brests satisfie thee at all times, and delite in her loue continually.
20 E perchè, figliuol mio, t'invaghiresti della straniera, Ed abbracceresti il seno della forestiera?
For why shouldest thou delite, my sonne, in a strange woman, or embrace the bosome of a stranger?
21 Conciossiachè le vie dell'uomo [sieno] davanti agli occhi del Signore, E ch'egli consideri tutti i suoi sentieri.
For the waies of man are before the eyes of the Lord, and he pondereth all his pathes.
22 Le iniquità dell'empio lo prenderanno, Ed egli sarà ritenuto con le funi del suo peccato.
His owne iniquities shall take the wicked himselfe, and he shall be holden with the cordes of his owne sinne.
23 Egli morrà per mancamento di correzione; E andrà errando per la molta sua pazzia.
Hee shall die for fault of instruction, and shall goe astray through his great follie.
