Proverbi 21
1 Il cuor del re [è] nella mano del Signore come ruscelli di acque; Egli lo piega a tutto ciò che gli piace.
Rivulets of waters [is] the heart of a king in the hand of Jehovah, Wherever He pleaseth He inclineth it.
2 Tutte le vie dell'uomo gli paiono diritte; Ma il Signore pesa i cuori.
Every way of a man [is] right in his own eyes, And Jehovah is pondering hearts.
3 Far giustizia e giudicio [È] cosa più gradita dal Signore, che sacrificio.
To do righteousness and judgment, Is chosen of Jehovah rather than sacrifice.
4 Gli occhi altieri, e il cuor gonfio, [Che son] la lampana degli empi, [son] peccato.
Loftiness of eyes, and breadth of heart, Tillage of the wicked [is] sin.
5 I pensieri dell'[uomo] diligente [producono] di certo abbondanza; Ma l'uomo disavveduto [cade] senza fallo in necessità.
The purposes of the diligent [are] only to advantage, And of every hasty one, only to want.
6 Il far tesori con lingua di falsità [è] una cosa vana, Sospinta [in qua ed in là; e si appartiene] a quelli che cercan la morte.
The making of treasures by a lying tongue, [Is] a vanity driven away of those seeking death.
7 Il predar degli empi li trarrà in giù; Perciocchè hanno rifiutato di far ciò che [è] diritto.
The spoil of the wicked catcheth them, Because they have refused to do judgment.
8 La via stravolta dell'uomo [è] anche strana; Ma l'opera di chi [è] puro [è] diritta.
Froward [is] the way of a man who is vile, And the pure — upright [is] his work.
9 Meglio [è] abitare sopra un canto di un tetto, Che [con] una moglie rissosa in casa comune.
Better to sit on a corner of the roof, Than [with] a woman of contentions and a house of company.
10 L'anima dell'empio desidera il male; Il suo amico stesso non trova pietà appo lui.
The soul of the wicked hath desired evil, Not gracious in his eyes is his neighbour.
11 Quando lo schernitore è gastigato, il semplice [ne] diventa savio; E quando si ammonisce il savio, egli apprende scienza.
When the scorner is punished, the simple becometh wise, And in giving understanding to the wise He receiveth knowledge.
12 Il giusto considera la casa dell'empio; Ella trabocca l'empio nel male.
The Righteous One is acting wisely Towards the house of the wicked, He is overthrowing the wicked for wickedness.
13 Chi tura l'orecchio, per non udire il grido del misero, Griderà anch'egli, e non sarà esaudito.
Whoso is shutting his ear from the cry of the poor, He also doth cry, and is not answered.
14 Il presente [dato] di nascosto acqueta l'ira; E il dono [porto] nel seno [acqueta] il forte cruccio.
A gift in secret pacifieth anger, And a bribe in the bosom strong fury.
15 Il far ciò che è diritto [è] letizia al giusto; Ma [è] uno spavento agli operatori d'iniquità.
To do justice [is] joy to the righteous, But ruin to workers of iniquity.
16 L'uomo che devia dal cammino del buon senno Riposerà in compagnia de' morti.
A man who is wandering from the way of understanding, In an assembly of Rephaim resteth.
17 L'uomo che ama godere [sarà] bisognoso; Chi ama il vino e l'olio non arricchirà.
Whoso [is] loving mirth [is] a poor man, Whoso is loving wine and oil maketh no wealth.
18 L'empio [sarà per] riscatto del giusto; E il disleale [sarà] in iscambio degli [uomini] diritti.
The wicked [is] an atonement for the righteous, And for the upright the treacherous dealer.
19 Meglio [è] abitare in terra deserta, Che [con] una moglie rissosa e stizzosa.
Better to dwell in a wilderness land, Than [with] a woman of contentions and anger.
20 Nell'abitacolo del savio [vi è] un tesoro di cose rare, e d'olii [preziosi]; Ma l'uomo stolto dissipa [tutto] ciò.
A treasure to be desired, and oil, [Is] in the habitation of the wise, And a foolish man swalloweth it up.
21 Chi va dietro a giustizia e benignità Troverà vita, giustizia, e gloria.
Whoso is pursuing righteousness and kindness, Findeth life, righteousness, and honour.
22 Il savio sale nella città de' valenti, Ed abbatte la forza di essa.
A city of the mighty hath the wise gone up, And bringeth down the strength of its confidence.
23 Chi guarda la sua bocca e la sua lingua Guarda l'anima sua d'afflizioni.
Whoso is keeping his mouth and his tongue, Is keeping from adversities his soul.
24 Il nome del superbo presuntuoso [è: ] schernitore; Egli fa [ogni cosa] con furor di superbia.
Proud, haughty, scorner [is] his name, Who is working in the wrath of pride.
25 Il desiderio del pigro l'uccide; Perciocchè le sue mani rifiutano di lavorare.
The desire of the slothful slayeth him, For his hands have refused to work.
26 [L'uomo dato a] cupidigia appetisce tuttodì; Ma il giusto dona, e non risparmia.
All the day desiring he hath desired, And the righteous giveth and withholdeth not.
27 Il sacrificio degli empi [è] cosa abbominevole; Quanto più se l'offeriscono con scelleratezza!
The sacrifice of the wicked [is] abomination, Much more when in wickedness he bringeth it.
28 Il testimonio mendace perirà; Ma l'uomo che ascolta parlerà in perpetuo.
A false witness doth perish, And an attentive man for ever speaketh.
29 L'uomo empio si rende sfacciato; Ma l'[uomo] diritto addirizza le sue vie.
A wicked man hath hardened by his face, And the upright — he prepareth his way.
30 Non [vi è] sapienza, nè prudenza, Nè consiglio, incontro al Signore.
There is no wisdom, nor understanding, Nor counsel, over-against Jehovah.
31 Il cavallo è apparecchiato per lo giorno della battaglia; Ma il salvare [appartiene] al Signore.
A horse is prepared for a day of battle, And the deliverance [is] of Jehovah!
