Proverbi 2
1 FIGLIUOL mio, se tu ricevi i miei detti, E riponi appo te i miei comandamenti,
Mi sone, if thou resseyuest my wordis, `and hidist myn heestis anentis thee;
2 Rendendo il tuo orecchio attento alla Sapienza; [Se] tu inchini il tuo cuore all'intendimento,
that thin eere here wisdom, bowe thin herte to knowe prudence.
3 E se tu chiami la prudenza, [E] dài fuori la tua voce all'intendimento;
For if thou inwardli clepist wisdom, and bowist thin herte to prudence;
4 Se tu la cerchi come l'argento, E l'investighi come i tesori;
if thou sekist it as money, and diggist it out as tresours;
5 Allora tu intenderai il timor del Signore, E troverai la conoscenza di Dio.
thanne thou schalt vndirstonde the drede of the Lord, and schalt fynde the kunnyng of God.
6 Perciocchè il Signore dà la sapienza; Dalla sua bocca [procede] la scienza e l'intendimento.
For the Lord yyueth wisdom; and prudence and kunnyng is of his mouth.
7 Egli riserba la ragione a' diritti; [Egli è] lo scudo di quelli che camminano in integrità;
He schal kepe the heelthe of riytful men, and he schal defende hem that goen sympli.
8 Per guardare i sentieri di dirittura, E custodire la via de' suoi santi.
And he schal kepe the pathis of riytfulnesse, and he schal kepe the weies of hooli men.
9 Allora tu intenderai giustizia, giudicio, E dirittura, [ed] ogni buon sentiero.
Thanne thou schalt vndirstonde riytfulnesse, and dom, and equytee, and ech good path.
10 Quando la sapienza sarà entrata nel cuor tuo, E la scienza sarà dilettevole all'anima tua;
If wysdom entrith in to thin herte, and kunnyng plesith thi soule,
11 L'avvedimento ti preserverà, La prudenza ti guarderà;
good councel schal kepe thee, and prudence schal kepe thee; that thou be delyuered fro an yuel weie,
12 Per liberarti dalla via malvagia, Dagli uomini che parlano di cose perverse;
and fro a man that spekith weiward thingis.
13 I quali lasciano i sentieri della dirittura, Per camminar per le vie delle tenebre;
Whiche forsaken a riytful weie, and goen bi derk weies;
14 I quali si rallegrano di far male, [E] festeggiano nelle perversità di malizia;
whiche ben glad, whanne thei han do yuel, and maken ful out ioye in worste thingis;
15 I quali [son] torti nelle lor vie, E traviati ne' lor sentieri.
whose weies ben weywerd, and her goyingis ben of yuel fame.
16 Per iscamparti [ancora] dalla donna straniera; Dalla forestiera [che] parla vezzosamente;
That thou be delyuered fro an alien womman, and fro a straunge womman, that makith soft hir wordis;
17 La quale ha abbandonato il conduttor della sua giovanezza, Ed ha dimenticato il patto del suo Dio.
and forsakith the duyk of hir tyme of mariage,
18 Conciossiachè la casa di essa dichini alla morte, Ed i suoi sentieri a' morti.
and hath foryete the couenaunt of hir God. For the hous of hir is bowid to deeth, and hir pathis to helle.
19 Niuno di coloro ch'entrano da essa non ne ritorna, E non riprende i sentieri della vita.
Alle that entren to hir, schulen not turne ayen, nether schulen catche the pathis of lijf.
20 Acciocchè [ancora] tu cammini per la via de' buoni, Ed osservi i sentieri de' giusti.
That thou go in a good weie, and kepe the pathis of iust men.
21 Perciocchè gli [uomini] diritti abiteranno la terra, E gli [uomini] intieri rimarranno in essa.
Forsothe thei that ben riytful, schulen dwelle in the lond; and symple men schulen perfitli dwelle ther ynne.
22 Ma gli empi saranno sterminati dalla terra, E i disleali ne saranno divelti.
But vnfeithful men schulen be lost fro the loond; and thei that doen wickidli, schulen be takun awey fro it.
