Numeri 35
1 IL Signore parlò ancora a Mosè, nelle campagne di Moab, presso al Giordano di Gerico, dicendo:
And the Lord spake vnto Moses in the plaine of Moab by Iorden, toward Iericho, saying,
2 Comanda a' figliuoli d'Israele che dieno, della possessione della loro eredità, ai Leviti, delle città da abitare, e anche i contorni di esse città.
Commande ye children of Israel, that they giue vnto the Leuites of the inheritace of their possession, cities to dwell in: yee shall giue also vnto the Leuites the suburbes of the cities round about them.
3 Abbiano adunque le città per abitar[vi]; e sieno i contorni di esse per li lor bestiami, per le lor facoltà, e per tutte le lor bestie.
So they shall haue the cities to dwell in, and their suburbes shall be for their cattell, and for their substance, and for all their beasts.
4 E [sieno] i contorni delle città, che voi darete a' Leviti, ciascuno di mille cubiti d'ogn'intorno, dalle mura della città in fuori.
And the suburbes of the cities, which ye shall giue vnto the Leuites, from the wall of the citie outward, shalbe a thousand cubites round about.
5 Misurate adunque fuor della città duemila cubiti, per lo lato orientale, e duemila cubiti, per lo lato meridionale, e duemila cubiti, per lo lato occidentale, e duemila cubiti, per lo lato settentrionale, e [sia] la città nel mezzo. Questo sia loro [lo spazio] de' contorni di quelle città.
And yee shall measure without the citie of the Eastside, two thousand cubites: and of the Southside, two thousand cubites: and of the Westside, two thousand cubites: and of ye Northside, two thousand cubites: and the citie shalbe in ye middes. this shalbe the measure of the suburbes of their cities.
6 E quant'è alle città, che voi darete a' Leviti, [sienvi imprima] le sei città di rifugio, le quali voi costituirete, acciocchè chi avrà ucciso alcuno vi si rifugga; e a quelle sopraggiugnetene quarantadue [altre].
And of the cities which yee shall giue vnto the Leuites, there shalbe sixe cities for refuge, which ye shall appoint, that he which killeth, may flee thither: and to them yee shall adde two and fourtie cities more.
7 Tutte le città, che voi darete a' Leviti, [sieno] quarantotto città, insieme co' lor contorni.
All the cities which yee shall giue to the Leuites, shalbe eight and fourtie cities: them shall ye giue with their suburbes.
8 E di queste città, che voi darete [a' Leviti], dell'eredità dei figliuoli d'Israele, datene più, della [tribù] che sarà più grande; e meno, di quella che sarà più piccola. Ciascuna [tribù] dia delle sue città a' Leviti, a ragion della sua eredità ch'ella possederà.
And concerning the cities which yee shall giue, of the possession of the children of Israel: of many ye shall take more, and of few ye shall take lesse: euery one shall giue of his cities vnto the Leuites, according to his inheritance, which hee inheriteth.
9 Poi il Signore parlò a Mosè, dicendo:
And the Lord spake vnto Moses, saying,
10 Parla a' figliuoli d'Israele, e di' loro: Quando voi sarete passati il Giordano, [e sarete entrati] nel paese di Canaan,
Speake vnto the children of Israel, and say vnto them, When ye be come ouer Iorden into the land of Canaan,
11 assegnate fra voi delle città di rifugio, nelle quali l'ucciditore, che avrà percossa a morte alcuna persona disavvedutamente, si rifugga.
Ye shall appoint you cities, to bee cities of refuge for you, that the slayer, which slayeth any person vnwares, may flee thither.
12 E quelle città vi saranno per rifugio d'innanzi a colui che ha la ragione di vendicare il sangue; acciocchè l'ucciditore non muoia, finchè non sia comparito in giudicio davanti alla raunanza.
And these cities shalbe for you a refuge from the auenger, that he which killeth, die not, vntill he stand before the Congregation in iudgement.
13 Di quelle città adunque, che voi darete [a' Leviti], sienvene sei di rifugio.
And of the cities which ye shall giue, sixe cities shall ye haue for refuge.
14 Assegnate tre di quelle città di qua dal Giordano; e tre altre, nel paese di Canaan, [per] esser città di rifugio.
Ye shall appoint three on this side Iorden, and ye shall appoint three cities in the lande of Canaan which shalbe cities of refuge.
15 Sieno queste sei città per rifugio, a' figliuoli d'Israele, a' forestieri, e agli avveniticci [che saranno] fra loro; acciocchè vi si rifugga chiunque avrà percossa a morte alcuna persona disavvedutamente.
These six cities shalbe a refuge for the children of Israel, and for the stranger, and for him that dwelleth among you, that euery one which killeth any person vnwares, may flee thither.
16 Ora, se alcuno percuote un altro con alcuno strumento di ferro, colui [è] micidiale; del tutto facciasi morire quel micidiale.
And if one smite another with an instrument of yron that hee die, hee is a murtherer, and the murtherer shall die the death.
17 Parimente, se lo percuote con una pietra da mano della qual possa morire, ed esso muore, egli [è] micidiale; del tutto facciasi morire quel micidiale.
Also if hee smite him by casting a stone, wherewith hee may be slaine, and he die, hee is a murtherer, and the murtherer shall die the death.
18 Simigliantemente, se lo percuote con uno strumento di legno da mano, del quale egli possa morire, ed esso muore, egli [è] micidiale; del tutto facciasi morire quel micidiale.
Or if he smite him with an hand weapon of wood, wherewith he may be slaine, if he die, he is a murtherer, and the murtherer shall die the death.
19 Colui che ha la ragione di vendicare il sangue faccia morire quel micidiale; quando lo scontrerà egli stesso lo potrà uccidere.
The reuenger of the blood himselfe shall slay the murtherer: when he meeteth him, he shall slay him.
20 Così ancora se lo spinge per odio, o gli gitta contro [alcuna cosa] apposta, onde sia morto;
But if hee thrust him of hate, or hurle at him by laying of wait, that he die,
21 ovvero per nimicizia lo percuote con la mano, ed esso muore, del tutto sia il percotitore fatto morire; egli [è] micidiale; colui che ha la ragione di vendicare il sangue potrà uccidere quel micidiale, quando lo scontrerà.
Or smite him through enimitie with his hand, that he die, he that smote him shall die ye death: for hee is a murtherer: the reuenger of the blood shall slay the murtherer when he meeteth him.
22 Ma, s'egli lo spinge, o gli gitta contro impensatamente, senza nimicizia, qualche strumento, ma non apposta;
But if he pusshed him vnaduisedly, and not of hatred, or cast vpon him any thing, without laying of waite,
23 ovvero, senza averlo veduto, gli fa cadere addosso alcuna pietra, della quale egli possa morire, ed esso muore, senza che gli fosse nimico, o procacciasse il suo male;
Or any stone (whereby he might be slaine) and sawe him not, or caused it to fall vpon him, and he die, and was not his enemie, neither sought him any harme,
24 allora giudichi la raunanza fra il percotitore, e colui che ha la ragion di vendicare il sangue, secondo queste leggi;
Then the Congregation shall iudge betweene the slayer and the auenger of blood according to these lawes.
25 e riscuota l'ucciditore dalle mani di colui che ha la ragione di vendicare il sangue, e faccialo ritornare alla città del suo rifugio, ove si era rifuggito; e dimori egli quivi, fino alla morte del sommo Sacerdote, il qual sarà stato unto con l'olio santo.
And the Congregation shall deliuer the slayer out of the hande of the auenger of blood, and the Congregation shall restore him vnto the citie of his refuge, whither hee was fled: and hee shall abide there vnto the death of the hie Priest, which is anointed with the holy oyle.
26 Ma, se pur l'ucciditore esce fuor de' confini della città del suo rifugio, ove egli si sarà rifuggito;
But if the slayer come without the borders of the citie of his refuge, whither he was fled,
27 e colui che ha la ragione di vendicare il sangue, trovandolo fuor de' confini della città del suo rifugio, l'uccide; egli non è colpevole d'omicidio.
And the reuenger of blood finde him without the borders of the citie of his refuge, and the reueger of blood slay ye murtherer, he shalbe giltles,
28 Perciocchè colui ha da star nella città del suo rifugio, fino alla morte del sommo Sacerdote; e dopo la morte del sommo Sacerdote, l'ucciditore potrà ritornare alla terra della sua possessione.
Because he should haue remained in the citie of his refuge, vntill the death of the hie Priest: and after the death of the hie Priest, the slayer shall returne vnto the land of his possession.
29 Sienvi adunque queste cose per istatuto di legge, per le vostre generazioni, in tutte le vostre stanze.
So these thinges shall be a lawe of iudgement vnto you, throughout your generations in all your dwellings.
30 Quando alcuno avrà percossa a morte una persona, sia quel micidiale ucciso, in sul dire di [più] testimoni; ma non possa un solo testimonio render testimonianza contro a una persona a morte.
Whosoeuer killeth any person, the Iudge shall slay the murtherer, through witnesses: but one witnesse shall not testifie against a person to cause him to die.
31 E non prendete prezzo di riscatto per la vita dell'ucciditore, il quale [è] colpevole, e degno di morte; anzi del tutto sia fatto morire.
Moreouer ye shall take no recompense for the life of the murtherer, which is worthy to die: but he shalbe put to death.
32 Parimente non prendete alcun prezzo, per [lasciar] rifuggire [alcuno] alla città del suo rifugio; [nè] per ritornare a dimorar nel paese avanti la morte del Sacerdote.
Also ye shall take no recompense for him that is fled to the citie of his refuge, that he should come againe, and dwell in the lande, before the death of the hie Priest.
33 E non profanate il paese, nel quale voi [abiterete]; conciossiachè il sangue profani il paese; e il paese non può esser purgato del sangue, che sarà stato sparso in esso, se non col sangue di chi l'avrà sparso.
So ye shall not pollute the land wherein ye shall dwell: for blood defileth the land: and the land cannot be clensed of the blood that is shed therein, but by the blood of him that shed it.
34 Non profanate adunque il paese, nel quale voi dimorerete, in mezzo del quale io abiterò; perciocchè io [sono] il Signore, che abito per mezzo i figliuoli d'Israele.
Defile not therefore the lande which yee shall inhabite, For I dwell in the middes thereof: for I the Lord dwel among the children of Israel.
