Giudici 1

1 ORA, dopo la morte di Giosuè, i figliuoli d'Israele domandarono il Signore, dicendo: Chi di noi salirà il primo contro a' Cananei, per far loro guerra?

And it was after [the] death of Joshua and they enquired [the] people of Israel by Yahweh saying who? will he go up for us against the Canaanite[s] at the first to engage in battle against him.

2 E il Signore disse: Salga Giuda; ecco, io gli ho dato il paese nelle mani.

And he said Yahweh Judah he will go up here! I have given the land in hand his.

3 E Giuda disse a Simeone, suo fratello: Sali meco alla mia parte; e noi guerreggeremo contro a' Cananei; poi, ancora io andrò alla tua parte. E Simeone andò con lui.

And he said Judah to Simeon brother his come up with me in lot my so let us fight against the Canaanite[s] and I will go also I with you in lot your and he went with him Simeon.

4 Giuda adunque salì; e il Signore diede loro nelle mani i Cananei ed i Ferizzei; ed essi li percossero in Bezec, [in numero di] diecimila.

And he went up Judah and he gave Yahweh the Canaanite[s] and the Perizzite[s] in hand their and they defeated them at Bezek ten thousand man.

5 E trovarono Adonibezec in Bezec, e combatterono contro a lui, e percossero i Cananei ed i Ferizzei.

And they found Adoni-Bezek at Bezek and they fought against him and they defeated the Canaanite[s] and the Perizzite[s].

6 E Adonibezec fuggì; ma essi lo perseguitarono, e, presolo, gli tagliarono i diti grossi delle mani e de' piedi.

And he fled Adoni-Bezek and they pursued after him and they seized him and they cut off [the] thumbs of hands his and feet his.

7 E Adonibezec disse: Settanta re, che aveano i diti grossi delle mani e de' piedi tagliati, se ne stavano già sotto la mia tavola, a ricoglier [ciò che ne cadea]; come io ho fatto, così mi ha Iddio renduto. Ed essi lo menarono in Gerusalemme, e quivi morì.

And he said Adoni-Bezek seventy - kings [the] thumbs of hands their and feet their cut off they were gathering up under table my just as I have done so he has repaid to me God and they brought him Jerusalem and he died there.

8 Ora i figliuoli di Giuda aveano combattuta Gerusalemme, e l'aveano presa, e messa a fil di spada; e aveano messa la città a fuoco e fiamma.

And they fought [the] descendants of Judah against Jerusalem and they captured it and they struck it to [the] mouth of [the] sword and the city they sent in fire.

9 E poi erano scesi per guerreggiar contro a' Cananei, che abitavano il monte, e nella parte meridionale, e nella pianura.

And after they went down [the] descendants of Judah to fight against the Canaanite[s] [who] dwelt of the hill country and the Negev and the Shephelah.

10 Giuda ancora era andato contro a' Cananei che abitavano in Hebron, il cui nome per addietro [era stato] Chiriat-Arba, e avea percosso Sesai, Ahiman e Talmai.

And he went Judah against the Canaanite[s] who dwelt in Hebron and [the] name of Hebron before [was] Kiriath Arba and they defeated Sheshai and Ahiman and Talmai.

11 E di là era andato contro agli abitanti di Debir, il cui nome per addietro [era stato] Chiriat-sefer.

And he went from there against [the] inhabitants of Debir and [the] name of Debir before [was] Kiriath Sepher.

12 E Caleb avea detto: Chi percoterà Chiriat-sefer, e la piglierà, io gli darò Acsa, mia figliuola, per moglie.

And he said Caleb [the one] who he will strike Kiriath Sepher and he will capture it and I will give to him Achsah daughter my to a wife.

13 E Otniel, figliuolo di Chenaz, fratel minore di Caleb, l'avea presa; ed egli gli diede Acsa, sua figliuola, per moglie.

And he captured it Othniel [the] son of Kenaz [the] brother of Caleb young more than him and he gave to him Achsah daughter his to a wife.

14 E quando ella venne [a marito], ella l'indusse a domandare un campo a suo padre. Poi ella si gittò giù dall'asino. E Caleb le disse: Che hai?

And it was when came she and she incited him to ask from with father her the field and she went down from on the donkey and he said to her Caleb what? [is] to you.

15 Ed ella gli disse: Fammi un dono; poichè tu m'hai data una terra asciutta, dammi ancora delle fonti d'acque. E Caleb le donò delle fonti [ch'erano] disopra, e disotto [di quella terra].

And she said to him give! to me a blessing for [the] land of the Negev you have given to me and you will give to me springs of water and he gave to her Caleb springs upper and springs lower.

16 Ora i figliuoli del Cheneo, suocero di Mosè, erano anch'essi saliti co' figliuoli di Giuda, dalla città delle palme, al deserto di Giuda, che [è] dal Mezzodì di Arad. Essi adunque andarono, e dimorarono col popolo.

And [the] descendants of [the] Kenite [the] father-in-law of Moses they went up from [the] city of the palm trees with [the] descendants of Judah [the] wilderness of Judah which [is] in [the] Negev Arad and he went and he dwelt with the people.

17 Poi Giuda andò con Simeone, suo fratello, e percosse i Cananei che abitavano in Sefat, e distrussero quella [città] al modo dell'interdetto; onde le fu posto nome Horma.

And he went Judah with Simeon brother his and they attacked the Canaanite[s] [who] dwelt of Zephath and they totally destroyed it and he called [the] name of the city Hormah.

18 Giuda prese anche Gaza e i suoi confini; Ascalon e i suoi confini; ed Ecron e i suoi confini.

And he captured Judah Gaza and territory its and Ashkelon and territory its and Ekron and territory its.

19 E il Signore fu con Giuda; ed essi scacciarono [gli abitanti del] monte; ma non poterono scacciar gli abitanti della valle; perchè aveano de' carri di ferro.

And he was Yahweh with Judah and it took possession of the hill country for not to dispossess [the] inhabitants of the valley for chariotry of iron [belonged] to them.

20 E diedero Hebron a Caleb, secondo che Mosè avea detto; ed egli ne scacciò i tre figliuoli di Anac.

And people gave to Caleb Hebron just as he had said Moses and he dispossessed from there three [the] sons of Anak.

21 Ora i figliuoli di Beniamino non iscacciarono i Gebusei che abitavano in Gerusalemme; anzi i Gebusei son dimorati in Gerusalemme, co' figliuoli di Beniamino, infino a questo giorno.

And the Jebusite[s] [who] dwelt of Jerusalem not they dispossessed [the] descendants of Benjamin and he has dwelt the Jebusite[s] with [the] descendants of Benjamin in Jerusalem until the day this.

22 La casa di Giuseppe salì anch'essa contro a Betel; e il Signore [fu] con loro.

And they went up [the] house of Joseph also they Beth-el and Yahweh [was] with them.

23 E fecero spiare Betel, il cui nome anticamente [era] Luz.

And they caused to spy out [the] house of Joseph at Beth-el and [the] name of the city before [was] Luz.

24 E quelli ch'erano all'agguato videro un uomo che usciva della città; e gli dissero: Deh! mostraci da qual parte si può entrar nella città, e noi useremo benignità inverso te.

And they saw those [who] watched a man coming out from the city and they said to him show us please [the] entrance of the city and we will do with you loyalty.

25 Egli adunque mostrò loro la parte per la quale potevano entrar nella città; ed essi la misero a fil di spada; ma lasciarono andar quell'uomo con tutta la sua famiglia.

And he showed them [the] entrance of the city and they struck the city to [the] mouth of [the] sword and the man and all family his they let go.

26 Ed egli se ne andò nel paese degli Hittei, ed edificò una città, e le pose nome Luz; il qual nome le dura infino al dì d'oggi.

And he went the man [the] land of the Hittites and he built a city and he called name its Luz that [is] name its until the day this.

27 Manasse anch'esso non iscacciò [gli abitanti di] Bet-sean, nè delle terre del suo territorio; nè di Taanac, nè delle terre del suo territorio; nè gli abitanti di Dor, nè delle terre del suo territorio; nè gli abitanti d'Ibleam, nè delle terre del suo territorio; nè gli abitanti di Meghiddo, nè delle terre del suo territorio. E i Cananei si misero in cuore di abitare in quel paese.

And not it took possession of Manasseh Beth Shean and daughters its and Taanach and daughters its and ([the] inhabitants of *QK) Dor and daughters its and [the] inhabitants of Ibleam and daughters its and [the] inhabitants of Megiddo and daughters its and it was determined the Canaanite[s] to dwell in the land this.

28 Ben avvenne che, dopo che Israele si fu rinforzato, egli fece tributari i Cananei; ma non li scacciò.

And it was that it became strong Israel and it made the Canaanite[s] into forced labor and certainly not it dispossessed him.

29 Efraim anch'esso non iscacciò i Cananei che abitavano in Ghezer; anzi i Cananei abitarono per mezzo esso in Ghezer.

And Ephraim not it dispossessed the Canaanite[s] who dwelt in Gezer and it dwelt the Canaanite[s] in midst its in Gezer.

30 Zabulon non iscacciò gli abitanti di Chitron, nè gli abitanti di Nahalol; anzi i Cananei abitarono per mezzo esso, e furono fatti tributari.

Zebulun not it dispossessed [the] inhabitants of Kitron and [the] inhabitants of Nahalol and it dwelt the Canaanite[s] in midst its and they became forced labor.

31 Aser non iscacciò gli abitanti di Acco, nè gli abitanti di Sidon, nè di Alab, nè di Aczib, nè di Helba, nè di Afic, nè di Rehob.

Asher not it dispossessed [the] inhabitants of Acco and [the] inhabitants of Sidon and Ahlab and Aczib and Helbah and Aphek and Rehob.

32 Anzi Aser abitò per mezzo i Cananei che abitavano nel paese; perciocchè egli non li scacciò.

And it dwelt the Asherite[s] in [the] midst of the Canaanite[s] [the] inhabitants of the land for not it dispossessed it.

33 Neftali non iscacciò gli abitanti di Bet-semes, nè gli abitanti di Bet-anat; anzi abitò per mezzo i Cananei che abitavano nel paese; e gli abitanti di Bet-semes, e di Bet-anat, furono loro tributari.

Naphtali not it dispossessed [the] inhabitants of Beth Shemesh and [the] inhabitants of Beth Anath and it dwelt in [the] midst of the Canaanite[s] [the] inhabitants of the land and [the] inhabitants of Beth Shemesh and Beth Anath they became for them forced labor.

34 E gli Amorrei tennero i figliuoli di Dan ristretti nel monte; perciocchè non li lasciavano scender nella valle.

And they pressed the Amorite[s] [the] descendants of Dan the hill country towards for not it permitted it to go down to the valley.

35 E gli Amorrei si misero in cuore di abitare in Harheres, in Aialon, ed in Saalbim; ma, essendo la potenza di Giuseppe accresciuta, furono fatti tributari.

And it was determined the Amorite[s] to dwell in [the] mountain of Heres in Aijalon and in Shaalbim and it was heavy [the] hand of [the] house of Joseph and they became forced labor.

36 E i confini degli Amorrei [erano] dalla salita di Acrabbim, dalla Rocca in su.

And [the] border of the Amorite[s] [was] from [the] ascent of scorpions from Sela and up-wards.
