Giovanni 9
1 E PASSANDO, vide un uomo [che era] cieco dalla [sua] natività.
And as Iesus passed by, he sawe a man which was blinde from his birth.
2 E i suoi discepoli lo domandaron, dicendo: Maestro, chi ha peccato, costui, o suo padre e sua madre, perchè egli sia nato cieco?
And his disciples asked him, saying, Master, who did sinne, this man, or his parents, that he was borne blinde?
3 Gesù rispose: Nè costui, nè suo padre, nè sua madre hanno peccato; anzi [ciò è avvenuto], acciocchè le opere di Dio sieno manifestate in lui.
Iesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents, but that the workes of God should be shewed on him.
4 Conviene che io operi l'opere di colui che mi ha mandato, mentre è giorno; la notte viene che niuno può operare.
I must worke the workes of him that sent me, while it is day: the night commeth when no man can worke.
5 Mentre io son nel mondo, io son la luce del mondo.
As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.
6 Avendo dette queste cose, sputò in terra, e fece del loto con lo sputo, e ne impiastrò gli occhi del cieco.
Assoone as he had thus spoken, he spat on the ground, and made clay of the spettle, and anointed the eyes of the blinde with the clay,
7 E gli disse: Va', lavati nella pescina di Siloe (il che s'interpreta: Mandato); egli adunque vi andò, e si lavò, e ritornò vedendo.
And sayd vnto him, Go wash in the poole of Siloam (which is by interpretation, Sent.) He went his way therefore, and washed, and came againe seeing.
8 Laonde i vicini, e coloro che innanzi l'avean veduto cieco, dissero: Non è costui quel che sedeva, e mendicava?
Nowe the neighbours and they that had seene him before, when he was blinde, sayd, Is not this he that sate and begged?
9 Gli uni dicevano: Egli è l'istesso. Gli altri: Egli lo rassomiglia. Ed egli diceva: Io son [desso].
Some said, This is he: and other sayd, He is like him: but he himselfe sayd, I am he.
10 Gli dissero adunque: Come ti sono stati aperti gli occhi?
Therefore they sayd vnto him, Howe were thine eyes opened?
11 Egli rispose, e disse: Un uomo, detto Gesù, fece del loto, e me ne impiastrò gli occhi, e mi disse: Vattene alla pescina di Siloe, e lavati. Ed io, essendovi andato, e lavatomi, ho ricuperata la vista.
He answered, and sayd, The man that is called Iesus, made clay, and anointed mine eyes, and sayde vnto me, Goe to the poole of Siloam and wash. So I went and washed, and receiued sight.
12 Ed essi gli dissero: Ov'è colui? Egli disse: Io non so.
Then they sayd vnto him, Where is he? He sayd, I can not tell.
13 [Ed] essi condussero a' Farisei colui che già [era stato] cieco.
They brought to the Pharises him that was once blinde.
14 Or era sabato, quando Gesù fece il loto, ed aperse gli occhi d'esso.
And it was the Sabbath day, when Iesus made the clay, and opened his eyes.
15 I Farisei adunque da capo gli domandarono anch'essi, come egli avea ricoverata la vista. Ed egli disse loro: Egli mi mise del loto in su gli occhi, ed io mi lavai, e veggo.
Then againe the Pharises also asked him, how he had receiued sight. And hee sayd vnto them, He layd clay vpon mine eyes, and I washed, and doe see.
16 Alcuni adunque de' Farisei dicevano: Quest'uomo non è da Dio, perciocchè non osserva il sabato. Altri dicevano: Come può un uomo peccatore far cotali miracoli? E v'era dissensione fra loro.
Then said some of the Pharises, This man is not of God, because he keepeth not the Sabbath day. Others sayd, Howe can a man that is a sinner, doe such miracles? and there was a dissension among them.
17 Dissero adunque di nuovo al cieco: Che dici tu di lui, ch'egli ti ha aperti gli occhi? Egli disse: Egli è profeta.
Then spake they vnto the blinde againe, What sayest thou of him, because he hath opened thine eyes? And he sayd, He is a Prophet.
18 Laonde i Giudei non credettero di lui, ch'egli fosse stato cieco, ed avesse ricoverata la vista; finchè ebbero chiamati il padre, e la madre di quell'uomo che avea ricoverata la vista.
Then the Iewes did not beleeue him (that he had bene blinde, and receiued his sight) vntill they had called the parents of him that had receiued sight.
19 E [quando furon venuti], li domandarono, dicendo: È costui il vostro figliuolo, il qual voi dite esser nato cieco? come dunque vede egli ora?
And they asked them, saying, Is this your sonne, whom ye say was borne blinde? How doeth he nowe see then?
20 E il padre, e la madre di esso risposero loro, e dissero: Noi sappiamo che costui è nostro figliuolo, e ch'egli è nato cieco.
His parents answered them, and sayd, We know that this is our sonne, and that he was borne blinde:
21 Ma, come egli ora vegga, o chi gli abbia aperti gli occhi, noi nol sappiamo; egli è già in età, domandateglielo; egli parlerà di sè stesso.
But by what meanes hee nowe seeth, we know not: or who hath opened his eyes, can we not tell: he is olde ynough: aske him: hee shall answere for himselfe.
22 Questo dissero il padre, e la madre d'esso; perciocchè temevano i Giudei; poichè i Giudei avevano già costituito che se alcuno lo riconosceva il Cristo, fosse sbandito dalla sinagoga.
These wordes spake his parents, because they feared the Iewes: for the Iewes had ordeined already, that if any man did confesse that he was Christ, he should be excommunicate out of the Synagogue.
23 Perciò, il padre e la madre d'esso dissero: Egli è già in età, domandate lui stesso.
Therefore sayde his parents, Hee is olde ynough: aske him.
24 Essi adunque chiamarono di nuovo quell'uomo ch'era stato cieco, e gli dissero: Da' gloria a Dio; noi sappiamo che quest'uomo è peccatore.
Then againe called they the man that had bene blinde, and sayd vnto him, Giue glory vnto God: we know that this man is a sinner.
25 Laonde colui rispose, e disse: Se egli è peccatore, io nol so; una cosa so, che, essendo io stato cieco, ora veggo.
Then he answered, and sayd, Whether hee be a sinner or no, I can not tell: one thing I know, that I was blinde, and nowe I see.
26 Ed essi da capo gli dissero: Che ti fece egli? come ti aperse egli gli occhi?
Then sayd they to him againe, What did he to thee? howe opened he thine eyes?
27 Egli rispose loro: Io ve l'ho già detto, e voi non [l]'avete ascoltato; perchè volete udirlo di nuovo? volete punto ancora voi divenir suoi discepoli?
Hee answered them, I haue tolde you already, and yee haue not heard it: wherefore would yee heare it againe? will yee also be his disciples?
28 Perciò essi l'ingiuriarono, e dissero: Sii tu discepolo di colui; ma, quant'è a noi, siam discepoli di Mosè.
Then reuiled they him, and sayd, Be thou his disciple: we be Moses disciples.
29 Noi sappiamo che Iddio ha parlato a Mosè; ma, quant'è a costui, non sappiamo onde egli sia.
We know that God spake with Moses: but this man we know not from whence he is.
30 Quell'uomo rispose, e disse loro: V'è ben di vero da maravigliarsi in ciò che voi non sapete onde egli sia; e pure egli mi ha aperti gli occhi.
The man answered, and sayde vnto them, Doutlesse, this is a marueilous thing, that ye know not whence he is, and yet he hath opened mine eyes.
31 Or noi sappiamo che Iddio non esaudisce i peccatori; ma, se alcuno è pio verso Iddio, e fa la sua volontà, quello esaudisce egli.
Now we know that God heareth not sinners: but if any man be a worshipper of God, and doeth his will, him heareth he.
32 Ei non si [è] giammai udito che alcuno abbia aperti gli occhi ad uno che sia nato cieco. (aiōn g165)
Since the world began, was it not heard, that any man opened the eyes of one that was borne blinde. (aiōn g165)
33 Se costui non fosse da Dio, non potrebbe far nulla.
If this man were not of God, hee could haue done nothing.
34 Essi risposero, e gli dissero: Tu sei tutto quanto nato in peccati, e ci ammaestri! E lo cacciarono fuori.
They answered, and sayd vnto him, Thou art altogether borne in sinnes, and doest thou teach vs? so they cast him out.
35 Gesù udì che l'aveano cacciato fuori; e trovatolo, gli disse: Credi tu nel Figliuol di Dio?
Iesus heard that they had cast him out: and when he had found him, he sayd vnto him, Doest thou beleeue in the Sonne of God?
36 Colui rispose, e disse: E chi è egli, Signore, acciocchè io creda in lui?
He answered, and sayd, Who is he, Lord, that I might beleeue in him?
37 E Gesù gli disse: Tu l'hai veduto, e quel che parla teco è desso.
And Iesus sayd vnto him, Both thou hast seene him, and he it is that talketh with thee.
38 Allora egli disse: Io credo, Signore, e l'adorò.
Then he sayd, Lord, I beleeue, and worshipped him.
39 Poi Gesù disse: Io son venuto in questo mondo per [far] giudicio, acciocchè coloro che non veggono veggano, e coloro che veggono divengan ciechi.
And Iesus sayd, I am come vnto iudgement into this world, that they which see not, might see: and that they which see, might be made blinde.
40 Ed [alcuni] de' Farisei ch'eran con lui udirono queste cose, e gli dissero: Siamo ancora noi ciechi?
And some of the Pharises which were with him, heard these things, and sayd vnto him, Are we blinde also?
41 Gesù disse loro: Se voi foste ciechi, non avreste alcun peccato; ma ora voi dite: Noi veggiamo; perciò il vostro peccato rimane.
Iesus sayd vnto them, If ye were blinde, ye should not haue sinne: but nowe ye say, We see: therefore your sinne remaineth.
