Giovanni 4
1 QUANDO adunque il Signore ebbe saputo che i Farisei aveano udito, che Gesù faceva, e battezzava [più] discepoli che Giovanni
Nowe when the Lord knew, how the Pharises had heard, that Iesus made and baptized moe disciples then Iohn,
2 (quantunque non fosse Gesù che battezzava, ma i suoi discepoli);
(Though Iesus himselfe baptized not: but his disciples)
3 lasciò la Giudea, e se ne andò di nuovo in Galilea.
Hee left Iudea, and departed againe into Galile.
4 Or gli conveniva passare per [il paese di] Samaria.
And he must needes goe through Samaria.
5 Venne adunque ad una città [del paese] di Samaria, detta Sichar, [che è] presso della possessione, la quale Giacobbe diede a Giuseppe, suo figliuolo.
Then came hee to a citie of Samaria called Sychar, neere vnto the possession that Iacob gaue to his sonne Ioseph.
6 Or quivi era la fontana di Giacobbe. Gesù adunque, affaticato dal cammino, sedeva così in su la fontana; [or] era intorno alle sei ore.
And there was Iacobs well. Iesus then wearied in the iourney, sate thus on the well: it was about the sixt houre.
7 [Ed] una donna di Samaria venne, per attinger dell'acqua. [E] Gesù le disse: Dammi da bere.
There came a woman of Samaria to drawe water. Iesus sayd vnto her, Giue me drinke.
8 (Perciocchè i suoi discepoli erano andati nella città, per comperar da mangiare.)
For his disciples were gone away into the citie, to buy meate.
9 Laonde la donna Samaritana gli disse: Come, essendo Giudeo, domandi tu da bere a me, che son donna Samaritana? Poichè i Giudei non usano co' Samaritani.
Then sayde the woman of Samaria vnto him, Howe is it, that thou being a Iewe, askest drinke of me, which am a woman of Samaria? For the Iewes meddle not with the Samaritans.
10 Gesù rispose, e le disse: Se tu conoscessi il dono di Dio, e chi è colui che ti dice: Dammi da bere, tu stessa gliene avresti chiesto, ed egli ti avrebbe dato dell'acqua viva.
Iesus answered and saide vnto her, If thou knewest that gift of God, and who it is that saieth to thee, Giue mee drinke, thou wouldest haue asked of him, and hee woulde haue giuen thee, water of life.
11 La donna gli disse: Signore, tu non hai pure alcun vaso da attingere, ed il pozzo è profondo: onde adunque hai quell'acqua viva?
The woman saide vnto him, Sir, thou hast nothing to drawe with, and the well is deepe: from whence then hast thou that water of life?
12 Sei tu maggiore di Giacobbe, nostro padre, il qual ci diede questo pozzo, ed egli stesso ne bevve, e i suoi figliuoli, e il suo bestiame?
Art thou greater then our father Iacob, which gaue vs the well, and hee himselfe dranke thereof, and his sonnes, and his cattell?
13 Gesù rispose, e le disse: Chiunque beve di quest'acqua, avrà ancor sete;
Iesus answered, and said vnto her, Whosoeuer drinketh of this water, shall thirst againe:
15 La donna gli disse: Signore, dammi cotest'acqua, acciocchè io non abbia [più] sete, e non venga [più] qua ad attingerne.
The woman said vnto him, Syr, giue me of that water, that I may not thirst, neither come hither to drawe.
16 Gesù le disse: Va', chiama il tuo marito, e vieni qua.
Iesus said vnto her, Go, call thine husband, and come hither.
17 La donna rispose, e gli disse: Io non ho marito. Gesù le disse: Bene hai detto: Non ho marito.
The woman answered, and saide, I haue no husband. Iesus said vnto her, Thou hast well said, I haue no husband.
18 Perciocchè tu hai avuti cinque mariti, e quello che tu hai ora non è tuo marito; questo hai tu detto con verità.
For thou hast had fiue husbands, and he whom thou nowe hast, is not thine husband: that saidest thou truely.
19 La donna gli disse: Signore, io veggo che tu sei profeta.
The woman saide vnto him, Sir, I see that thou art a Prophet.
20 I nostri padri hanno adorato in questo monte; e voi dite che in Gerusalemme è il luogo ove conviene adorare.
Our fathers worshipped in this mountaine, and ye say, that in Ierusalem is the place where men ought to worship.
21 Gesù le disse: Donna, credimi che l'ora viene, che voi non adorerete il Padre nè in questo monte, nè in Gerusalemme.
Iesus saide vnto her, Woman, beleeue me, the houre commeth, when ye shall neither in this mountaine, nor at Hierusalem worship ye Father.
22 Voi adorate ciò che non conoscete; noi adoriamo ciò che noi conosciamo; poichè la salute è dalla parte de' Giudei.
Ye worship that which ye knowe not: we worship that which we knowe: for saluation is of the Iewes.
23 Ma l'ora viene, e già al presente è, che i veri adoratori adoreranno il Padre in ispirito e verità; perciocchè anche il Padre domanda tali che l'adorino;
But the houre commeth, and nowe is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit, and trueth: for the Father requireth euen such to worship him.
24 Iddio è Spirito; perciò, conviene che coloro che l'adorano, l'adorino in ispirito e verità.
God is a Spirite, and they that worship him, must worship him in spirit and trueth.
25 La donna gli disse: Io so che il Messia, il quale è chiamato Cristo, ha da venire; quando egli sarà venuto, ci annunzierà ogni cosa.
The woman said vnto him, I knowe well that Messias shall come which is called Christ: when he is come, he will tell vs all things.
26 Gesù le disse: Io, che ti parlo, son desso.
Iesus said vnto her, I am he, that speake vnto thee.
27 E in su quello, i suoi discepoli vennero, e si maravigliarono ch'egli parlasse con una donna; ma pur niuno disse: Che domandi? o: Che ragioni con lei?
And vpon that, came his disciples, and marueiled that he talked with a woman: yet no man said vnto him, What askest thou? or why talkest thou with her?
28 La donna adunque, lasciata la sua secchia, se ne andò alla città, e disse alla gente:
The woman then left her waterpot, and went her way into the citie, and said to the men,
29 Venite, vedete un uomo che mi ha detto tutto ciò ch'io ho fatto; non è costui il Cristo?
Come, see a man which hath tolde me all things that euer I did: is not he that Christ?
30 Uscirono adunque della città, e vennero a lui.
Then they went out of the citie, and came vnto him.
31 OR in quel mezzo i suoi discepoli lo pregavano, dicendo: Maestro, mangia.
In the meane while, the disciples prayed him, saying, Master, eate.
32 Ma egli disse loro: Io ho da mangiare un cibo, il qual voi non sapete.
But he said vnto them, I haue meate to eate that ye know not of.
33 Laonde i discepoli dicevano l'uno all'altro: Gli ha punto alcuno portato da mangiare?
Then said ye disciples betweene themselues, Hath any man brought him meate?
34 Gesù disse loro: Il mio cibo è ch'io faccia la volontà di colui che mi ha mandato, e ch'io adempia l'opera sua.
Iesus saide vnto them, My meate is that I may doe the will of him that sent me, and finish his worke.
35 Non dite voi che vi sono ancora quattro mesi infino alla mietitura? ecco, io vi dico: Levate gli occhi vostri, e riguardate le contrade, come già son bianche da mietere.
Say not ye, There are yet foure moneths, and then commeth haruest? Beholde, I say vnto you, Lift vp your eyes, and looke on the regions: for they are white alreadie vnto haruest.
36 Or il mietitore riceve premio, e ricoglie frutto in vita eterna; acciocchè il seminatore, e il mietitore si rallegrino insieme. (aiōnios g166)
And he that reapeth, receiueth rewarde, and gathereth fruite vnto life eternall, that both he that soweth, and he that reapeth, might reioyce together. (aiōnios g166)
37 Poichè in questo quel dire è vero: L'uno semina, l'altro miete.
For herein is the saying true, that one soweth, and an other reapeth.
38 Io vi ho mandati a mieter ciò intorno a che non avete faticato; altri hanno faticato, e voi siete entrati nella lor fatica.
I sent you to reape that, whereon ye bestowed no labour: other men laboured, and ye are entred into their labours.
39 Or di quella città molti de' Samaritani credettero in lui, per le parole della donna che testimoniava: Egli mi ha dette tutte le cose che io ho fatte.
Nowe many of the Samaritans of that citie beleeued in him, for the saying of the woman which testified, He hath tolde me all things that euer I did.
40 Quando adunque i Samaritani furon venuti a lui, lo pregarono di dimorare presso di loro; ed egli dimorò quivi due giorni.
Then when the Samaritans were come vnto him, they besought him, that he woulde tarie with them: and he abode there two dayes.
41 E più assai credettero in lui per la sua parola.
And many moe beleeued because of his owne word.
42 E dicevano alla donna: Noi non crediamo più per le tue parole; perciocchè noi stessi [l]'abbiamo udito, e sappiamo che costui è veramente il Cristo, il Salvator del mondo.
And they said vnto the woman, Nowe we beleeue, not because of thy saying: for we haue heard him our selues, and knowe that this is in deede that Christ the Sauiour of the world.
43 ORA, passati que' due giorni, egli si partì di là, e se ne andò in Galilea.
So two dayes after he departed thence, and went into Galile.
44 Poichè Gesù stesso avea testimoniato che un profeta non è onorato nella sua propria patria.
For Iesus himselfe had testified, that a Prophet hath none honour in his owne countrey.
45 Quando adunque egli fu venuto in Galilea, i Galilei lo ricevettero, avendo vedute tutte le cose ch'egli avea fatte in Gerusalemme nella festa; perciocchè anche essi eran venuti alla festa.
Then when he was come into Galile, the Galileans receiued him, which had seene all the things that he did at Hierusalem at the feast: for they went also vnto the feast.
46 Gesù adunque venne di nuovo in Cana di Galilea, dove avea fatto dell'acqua vino. Or v'era un certo ufficial reale, il cui figliuolo era infermo in Capernaum.
And Iesus came againe into Cana a towne of Galile, where he had made of water, wine. And there was a certaine ruler, whose sonne was sicke at Capernaum.
47 Costui, avendo udito che Gesù era venuto di Giudea in Galilea, andò a lui, e lo pregò che scendesse, e guarisse il suo figliuolo; perciocchè egli stava per morire.
When he heard that Iesus was come out of Iudea into Galile, he went vnto him, and besought him that he would goe downe, and heale his sonne: for he was euen ready to die.
48 Laonde Gesù gli disse: Se voi non vedete segni e miracoli, voi non crederete.
Then saide Iesus vnto him, Except ye see signes and wonders, ye will not beleeue.
49 L'ufficial reale gli disse: Signore, scendi prima che il mio fanciullo muoia.
The ruler said vnto him, Syr, goe downe before my sonne dye.
50 Gesù gli disse: Va', il tuo figliuolo vive. E quell'uomo credette alla parola che Gesù gli avea detta; e se ne andava.
Iesus said vnto him, Go thy way, thy sonne liueth: and the man beleeued the worde that Iesus had spoken vnto him, and went his way.
51 Ora, come egli già scendeva, i suoi servitori gli vennero incontro, e gli rapportarono, e dissero: Il tuo figliuolo vive.
And as he was nowe going downe, his seruants met him, saying, Thy sonne liueth.
52 Ed egli domandò loro dell'ora ch'egli era stato meglio. Ed essi gli dissero: Ieri a sette ora la febbre lo lasciò.
Then enquired he of them the houre when he began to amend. And they said vnto him, Yesterday the seuenth houre the feuer left him.
53 Laonde il padre conobbe ch' [era] nella stessa ore, che Gesù gli avea detto: Il tuo figliuolo vive; e credette egli, e tutta la sua casa.
Then the father knew, that it was the same houre in the which Iesus had said vnto him, Thy sonne liueth. And he beleeued, and all his houshold.
54 Questo secondo segno fece di nuovo Gesù, quando fu venuto di Giudea in Galilea.
This second miracle did Iesus againe, after he was come out of Iudea into Galile.
