Geremia 49
1 QUANT'è a' figliuoli di Ammon, così ha detto il Signore: Israele non ha egli alcuni figliuoli? non ha egli alcuno erede? perchè si è Malcam messo in possesso di Gad, e si è il suo popolo stanziato nelle città di esso?
Unto the children of Ammon thus saith the Lord, Hath Israel no sonnes? or hath he none heire? Why then hath their king possessed God? and his people dwelt in his cities?
2 Perciò, ecco i giorni vengono, dice il Signore, che io farò udire in Rabba de' figliuoli di Ammon lo stormo di guerra, ed ella sarà ridotta in un monte di ruine; e le città del suo territorio saranno arse col fuoco; ed Israele possederà quelli che l'aveano posseduto, ha detto il Signore.
Therefore beholde the dayes come, sayeth the Lord, that I will cause a noyse of warre to be heard in Rabbah of the Ammonites, and it shall be a desolate heape, and her daughters shall be burnt with fire: then shall Israel possesse those that possessed him, sayeth the Lord.
3 Urla, o Hesbon; perciocchè Ai è guasta; o città del territorio di Rabba, gridate, cingetevi di sacchi, fate cordoglio, e andate attorno lungo le chiusure; perciocchè Malcam andrà in cattività, insieme co' suoi sacerdoti, e i suoi principi.
Howle, O Heshbon, for Ai is wasted: crie ye daughters of Rabbah: girde you with sackecloth: mourne and runne to and from by the hedges: for their King shall goe into captiuitie; and his Priestes, and his princes likewise.
4 Perchè ti glorii delle valli? la tua valle si è scolata, o figliuola ribelle, che ti confidavi ne' tuoi tesori; [che dicevi: ] Chi verrà contro a me?
Wherefore gloriest thou in the valleis? thy valley floweth away, O rebellious daughter: she trusted in her treasures, saying, Who shall come vnto me?
5 Ecco, io fo venir sopra te d'ogn'intorno di te lo spavento, dice il Signore Iddio degli eserciti; e voi sarete scacciati, chi qua, chi là; e non [vi sarà] alcuno che raccolga gli erranti.
Beholde, I will bring a feare vpon thee, sayth the Lord God of hostes, of all those that be about thee, and ye shalbe scattered euery man right foorth, and none shall gather him that fleeth.
6 Ma pure, dopo queste cose, io ritrarrò di cattività i figliuoli di Ammon, dice il Signore.
And afterward I will bring againe the captiuitie of the children of Ammon.
7 QUANT'è ad Edom, il Signor degli eserciti ha detto così: Non [vi è] egli più sapienza alcuna in Teman? il consiglio è egli venuto meno agl'intendenti? la lor sapienza è ella marcita?
To Edom thus sayeth the Lord of hostes: Is wisdome no more in Teman? is counsel perished from their children? is their wisdome vanished?
8 Fuggite, o abitanti di Dedan; hanno volte le spalle, e si son riparati in luoghi segreti e profondi, per dimorarvi, perciocchè io ho fatta venir sopra Esaù la sua ruina, il tempo nel quale io voglio visitarlo.
Flee, ye inhabitants of Dedan (they are turned backe, and haue consulted to dwell) for I haue brought the destruction of Esau vpon him, and the time of his visitation.
9 Se ti fosser sopraggiunti dei vendemmiatori, non ti avrebbero essi lasciati alcuni grappoli? se de' ladri fosser venuti contro a te di notte, non avrebbero essi predato quanto fosse lor bastato?
If the grape gatherers come to thee, would they not leaue some grapes? if theeues come by night, they will destroy till they haue ynough.
10 Ma io ho frugato Esaù, io ho scoperti i suoi nascondimenti, ed egli non si è potuto occultare; la sua progenie, e i suoi fratelli, e i suoi vicini, son deserti, ed egli non [è più].
For I haue discouered Esau: I haue vncouered his secrets, and he shall not be able to hide himselfe: his seede is wasted, and his brethren and his neighbours, and there shall be none to say,
11 Lascia i tuoi orfani, io [li] nudrirò; e confidinsi le tue vedove in me.
Leaue thy fathers children, and I will preserue them aliue, and let thy widowes trust in me.
12 Perciocchè, così ha detto il Signore: Ecco, coloro a' quali non si apparteneva di ber della coppa, ne hanno pur bevuto; e tu sarestine pure esente? tu non [ne] sarai esente; anzi del tutto ne berrai.
For thus sayth the Lord, Beholde, they whose iudgement was not to drinke of the cuppe, haue assuredly drunken, and art thou he that shall escape free? thou shalt not goe free, but thou shalt surely drinke of it.
13 Conciossiachè io abbia giurato per me stesso, dice il Signore, che Bosra sarà [messa] in desolazione, in vituperio, in disertamento, ed in maledizione; e che tutte le sue città saranno ridotte in deserti in perpetuo.
For I haue sworne by my selfe, sayeth the Lord, that Bozrah shall be waste, and for a reproche, and a desolation, and a curse, and all the cities thereof shall be perpetuall desolations.
14 Io ho udito un grido da parte del Signore, e un messo [è] stato mandato fra le genti, [per dire: ] Adunatevi, e venite contro ad essa, e levatevi [per venire] a battaglia.
I haue heard a rumour from the Lord, and an ambassadour is sent vnto the heathen, saying, Gather you together, and come against her, and rise vp to the battell.
15 Perciocchè, ecco, io ti ho fatto piccolo fra le nazioni, sprezzato fra gli uomini.
For loe, I will make thee but small among the heathen, and despised among men.
16 La tua fierezza, [e] la superbia del cuor tuo ti hanno ingannato, [o tu], che abiti nelle fessure delle rocce, che occupi la sommità degli alti colli; avvegnachè tu avessi elevato il tuo nido a giusa dell'aquila, pur ti gitterò giù di là, dice il Signore.
Thy feare, and ye pride of thine heart hath deceiued thee, thou that dwellest in the cleftes of the rocke, and keepest the height of ye hil: though thou shouldest make thy nest as hie as the eagle, I wil bring thee downe from thece, sayth the Lord.
17 Ed Edom sarà messo in desolazione; chiunque passerà presso di esso sarà attonito, e zufolerà, per tutte le sue piaghe.
Also Edom shall be desolate: euery one that goeth by it, shall be astonished, and shall hisse at all the plagues thereof,
18 Siccome Sodoma, e Gomorra, e le [città] lor vicine, furono sovvertite, ha detto il Signore; [così] non abiterà [più] quivi alcun uomo, e niun figliuol d'uomo vi dimorerà.
As in the ouerthrowe of Sodom, and of Gomorah, and the places thereof neere about, saieth the Lord: no man shall dwell there, neither shall the sonnes of men remaine in it.
19 Ecco, colui salirà come un leone, più [violentemente] che la piena del Giordano, contro all'abitacolo forte; perciocchè io lo farò muovere, e lo farò correre sopra l'Idumea; e chi [è] valente uomo scelto? ed io lo rassegnerò contro a lei; perciocchè, chi [è] pari a me? e chi mi sfiderà? e chi [è] il pastore che possa star fermo dinanzi a me?
Beholde, hee shall come vp like a lyon from the swelling of Iorden vnto the strong dwelling place: for I will make Israel to rest, euen I will make him to haste away from her, and who is a chosen man that I may appoynt against her? for who is like mee? and who will appoint me the time? and who is the shepheard that will stande before me?
20 Perciò, ascoltate il consiglio del Signore, ch'egli ha preso contro all'Idumea, e i pensieri ch'egli ha divisati contro agli abitatori di Teman: Se i [più] piccoli della greggia non li strascinano; se la lor mandra non è deserta insieme con loro.
Therefore heare the counsell of the Lord that hee hath deuised against Edom, and his purpose that hee hath conceiued against the inhabitants of Teman: surely the least of the flocke shall drawe them out: surely he shall make their habitations desolate with them.
21 La terra ha tremato per lo suon della lor caduta; il suono [n'è andato] fino al Mar rosso; il grido di essa è stato [quivi] udito.
The earth is mooued at the noyse of their fall: the crie of their voice is heard in the red Sea.
22 Ecco, colui salirà, e volerà come un'aquila, e spiegherà le sue ale contro a Bosra; e il cuor degli [uomini] prodi di Edom in quel giorno sarà come il cuor d'una donna che è nella distretta [del parto].
Behold, he shall come vp, and flie as the Egle, and spreade his wings ouer Bozrah, and at that day shall the heart of the strong men of Edome be as the heart of a woman in trauaile.
23 QUANT'è a Damasco, Hamat ed Arpad sono confuse; si struggono, perciocchè hanno udita una mala novella; [vi è] spavento nella marina; ella non può racquetarsi.
Vnto Damascus he sayeth, Hamath is confounded and Arpad, for they haue heard euill tidings, and they are faint hearted as one on the fearefull sea that can not rest.
24 Damasco è fiacca, si è messa in volta per fuggire, e tremito [l]'ha colta; distretta e dolori l'hanno occupata, come la donna che partorisce.
Damascus is discouraged, and turneth her selfe to flight and feare hath seased her: anguish and sorowes haue taken her as a woman in trauaile.
25 Come non è stata risparmiata la città famosa, la città della mia allegrezza?
How is the glorious citie not reserued, the citie of my ioy?
26 I suoi giovani adunque caderanno nelle sue piazze, e tutta la gente di guerra in quel giorno sarà distrutta, dice il Signor degli eserciti.
Therefore her yong men shall fall in her streetes, and all her men of warre shall be cut off in that day, sayeth the Lord of hostes.
27 Ed io accenderò un fuoco nelle mura di Damasco, che consumerà i palazzi di Ben-hadad.
And I will kindle a fire in the wall of Damascus, which shall cosume the palaces of Benhadad.
28 QUANT'è a Chedar, ed a' regni di Hasor, i quali Nebucadnesar, re di Babilonia, percosse, il Signore ha detto così: Levatevi, salite contro a Chedar, e guastate gli Orientali.
Vnto Kedar, and to the kingdomes of Hazor, which Nebuchad-nezzar, king of Babel shall smite, thus sayeth the Lord, Arise, and goe vp vnto Kedar, and destroy the men of the East.
29 Essi se ne torranno via le lor tende, e le lor gregge; se ne porteran via i lor teli, e tutti i loro arnesi, e ne meneranno i lor cammelli; e d'ogn'intorno daranno contro a loro gridi di spavento.
Their tents and their flocks shall they take away: yea, they shall take to themselues their curtaines and all their vessels, and their camels, and they shall crie vnto them, Feare is on euery side.
30 Fuggite, dileguatevi ben lungi; riducetevi in luoghi segreti e profondi, per dimorar[vi], o abitanti di Hasor, dice il Signore; perciocchè Nebucadnesar, re di Babilonia, ha preso un consiglio contro a voi, ed ha divisato contro a voi un pensiero.
Flee, get you farre off (they haue consulted to dwell) O ye inhabitants of Hazor, saith the Lord: for Nebuchad-nezzar King of Babel hath taken counsell against you, and hath deuised a purpose against you.
31 Levatevi, salite contro alla nazione pacifica, che abita in sicurtà, dice il Signore; ella non ha nè porte, nè sbarre; abitano in disparte.
Arise, and get you vp vnto the welthy nation that dwelleth without care, saith the Lord, which haue neither gates nor barres, but dwel alone.
32 E i lor cammelli saranno in preda, e la moltitudine del lor bestiame in ruberia; ed io dispergerò a tutti i venti quelli che si radono i canti [delle tempie]; e farò venire la lor calamità da ogni lor lato, dice il Signore.
And their camels shall be a bootie, and the multitude of their cattel a spoile, and I will scatter them into all windes, and to the vtmost corners, and I will bring their destruction from al the sides thereof, sayeth the Lord.
33 Ed Hasor diverrà un ricetto di sciacalli un luogo deserto in perpetuo: uomo alcuno non vi abiterà, e niun figliuolo d'uomo vi dimorerà.
And Hazor shall be a dwelling for dragons, and desolation for euer: there shall no man dwell there, nor the sonnes of men remaine in it.
34 LA parola del Signore che fu [indirizzata] al profeta Geremia contro ad Elam, nel principio del regno di Sedechia, re di Giuda, dicendo:
The woordes of the Lord that came to Ieremiah the Prophet, concerning Elam, in the beginning of the reigne of Zedekiah King of Iudah, saying,
35 Così ha detto il Signor degli eserciti: Ecco, io rompo l'arco di Elam, [che è] la lor principal forza.
Thus sayeth the Lord of hostes, Beholde, I will breake the bowe of Elam, euen the chiefe of their strength.
36 E farò venire contro agli Elamiti i quattro venti, dalle quattro estremità del cielo, e li dispergerò a tutti questi venti; e non vi sarà nazione alcuna alla quale non pervengano degli scacciati di Elam.
And vpon Elam I will bring the foure windes from the foure quarters of heauen, and will scatter them towardes all these windes, and there shall bee no nation, whither the fugitiues of Elam shall not come.
37 Ed io spaurirò gli Elamiti dinanzi a' lor nemici, e dinanzi a quelli che cercano l'anima loro; e farò venir sopra loro del male, l'ardor della mia ira, dice il Signore; e manderò dietro a loro la spada, finchè io li abbia consumati.
For I will cause Elam to be afraied before their enemies, and before them that seeke their liues, and will bring vpon them a plague, euen the indignation of my wrath, saieth the Lord, and I wil sende the sworde after them till I haue consumed them.
38 E metterò il mio trono in Elam, e ne farò perire re e principi, dice il Signore.
And I wil set my throne in Elam, and I wil destroy both the King and the princes from thence, saith the Lord:
39 Ma pure, negli ultimi tempi avverrà che io ritrarrò gli Elamiti di cattività, dice il Signore.
but in the latter daies I wil bring againe the captiuitie of Elam, sayeth the Lord.
