Giacomo 1
1 GIACOMO, servitor di Dio, e del Signor Gesù Cristo, alle dodici tribù, che [son] nella dispersione; salute.
James, a servant, of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, —unto the twelve tribes that are in the dispersion, Wishes joy.
2 REPUTATE compiuta allegrezza, fratelli miei, quando sarete caduti in diverse tentazioni;
All Joy, account it, my brethren, whensoever ye fall in with, manifold, temptations, —
3 sapendo che la prova della vostra fede produce pazienza.
Taking note, that, the proving of your faith, worketh out endurance;
4 Or abbia la pazienza un'opera compiuta; acciocchè voi siate compiuti ed intieri, non mancando di nulla.
But let, your endurance, have, mature work, that ye may be mature and complete, in nothing, coming short.
5 Che se alcun di voi manca di sapienza, chiegga[la] a Dio, che dona a tutti liberalmente, e non fa onta, e gli sarà donata.
But, if any of you is sinning short of wisdom, let him be asking of God, Who giveth unto all freely and upbraideth not, and it shall be given him;
6 Ma chiegga[la] in fede, senza star punto in dubbio; perciocchè chi sta in dubbio è simile al fiotto del mare, agitato dal vento e dimenato.
But let him be asking in faith, nothing, doubting, for, he that doubteth, is like a wave of the sea, wind-driven and storm-tossed, —
7 Imperocchè, non pensi già quel tal uomo di ricever nulla dal Signore;
For let not that man think that he shall receive anything from the Lord—
8 [essendo] uomo doppio di cuore, instabile in tutte le sue vie.
A two-souled man, unstable in all his ways.
9 Or il fratello che è in basso stato si glorii della sua altezza.
But boasting be the lowly brother in his uplifting;
10 E il ricco, della sua bassezza; perciocchè egli trapasserà come fior d'erba.
Whereas the rich, in his being brought low, —because, as a flower of grass, he will pass away;
11 Imperocchè, [come] quando è levato il sole con l'arsura, egli ha [tosto] seccata l'erba, e il suo fiore è caduto, e la bellezza della sua apparenza è perita, così ancora si appasserà il ricco nelle sue vie.
For the sun hath sprung up, with it scorching heat, and hath withered the grass, and, the flower thereof, hath fallen out, and, the beauty of the face thereof, hath perished, —so, also the rich, in his goings, shall languish.
12 Beato l'uomo che sopporta la tentazione; perciocchè, essendosi reso approvato, egli riceverà la corona della vita, la quale il Signore ha promessa a coloro che l'amano.
Happy the man who endureth temptation! Because, becoming approved, he shall receive the crown of life—which he hath promised unto them that love him.
13 Niuno, essendo tentato, dica: Io son tentato da Dio; poichè Iddio non può esser tantato di mali, e altresì non tenta alcuno.
Let, no one, while tempted, be saying—From God, am I tempted, —for, God, cannot be tempted by things evil, and, himself, tempteth no one;
14 Ma ciascuno è tentato, essendo attratto e adescato dalla propria concupiscenza.
But, each one, is tempted, when, by his own coveting, he is drawn out and enticed,
15 Poi appresso, la concupiscenza, avendo conceputo, partorisce il peccato; e il peccato, essendo compiuto, genera la morte.
Then, the coveting, having conceived, giveth birth to sin, and, the sin, when full-grown, bringeth forth death.
16 Non errate, fratelli miei diletti:
Be not deceived, my brethren beloved: —
17 ogni buona donazione, ed ogni dono perfetto, è da alto, discendendo dal padre dei lumi, nel quale non vi è mutamento, nè ombra di cambiamento.
Every good giving, and every perfect gift, is, from above, coming down from the Father of lights—with whom is no alternation, nor shadow cast, by turning:
18 Egli ci ha di sua volontà generati per la parola della verità, acciocchè siamo in certo modo le primizie delle sue creature.
Because he was so minded, he hath brought us forth with a word of truth, to the end we should be a sort of firstfruit of his creatures
19 PERCIÒ, fratelli miei diletti, sia ogni uomo pronto all'udire, tardo al parlare, lento all'ira.
Ye know, my brethren beloved, —but let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger,
20 Perciocchè l'ira dell'uomo non mette in opera la giustizia di Dio.
For, man’s anger, worketh not, God’s righteousness.
21 Perciò, deposta ogni lordura, e feccia di malizia, ricevete con mansuetudine la parola innestata in voi, la quale può salvar le anime vostre.
Wherefore, putting away all filthiness and overflow of baseness, in meekness, welcome ye the word fitted for inward growth, which is able to save your souls:
22 E siate facitori della parola, e non solo uditori; ingannando voi stessi.
Become ye doers of the word, and not hearers only—reasoning yourselves astray;
23 Perciocchè, se alcuno è uditor della parola, e non facitore, egli è simile ad un uomo che considera la sua natia faccia in uno specchio.
Because, if any is, a word-hearer, and not a doer, the same, is like unto a man observing his natural face in a mirror, —
24 Imperocchè, dopo ch'egli si è mirato, egli se ne va, e subito ha dimenticato quale egli fosse.
For he observed himself, and is gone away, and, straightway, it hath escaped him, —what manner of man, he was!
25 Ma chi avrà riguardato bene addentro nella legge perfetta, che [è la legge] della libertà, e sarà perseverato; esso, non essendo uditore dimentichevole, ma facitor dell'opera, sarà beato nel suo operare.
But, he that hath obtained a nearer view into the perfect law of liberty, and hath taken up his abode by it, becoming—not a forgetful hearer, but a work doer, the same, happy in his doing, shall be.
26 Se alcuno pare esser religioso fra voi, e non tiene a freno la sua lingua, ma seduce il cuor suo, la religion di quel tale [è] vana.
If any thinketh he is observant of religion, not curbing his own tongue, but deceiving his own heart, this one’s, religious observance is, vain:
27 La religione pura ed immacolata, dinanzi a Dio e Padre, è questa; visitar gli orfani, e le vedove, nelle loro afflizioni; [e] conservarsi puro dal mondo.
Religious observance, pure and undefiled with our God and Father, is, this—to be visiting orphans and widows in their affliction, unspotted, to keep, himself, from the world.
