Isaia 16

1 Mandate l'agnello di colui che domina nel paese, da Sela, [che è] inverso il deserto, al monte della figliuola di Sion.

Send yee a lambe to the ruler of the worlde from the rocke of the wildernesse, vnto the mountaine of the daughter Zion.

2 Ed egli avverrà, che le figliuole di Moab saranno a' guadi dell'Arnon, come un uccello ramingo, come una nidiata scacciata.

For it shall be as a birde that flieth, and a nest forsaken: the daughters of Moab shall be at the foordes of Arnon.

3 Prendi un consiglio, [o Moab], fa' un decreto; fa' che la tua ombra, in pien mezzodì, sia come la notte; nascondi quelli che sono scacciati, non palesare i fuggitivi.

Gather a cousel, execute iudgement: make thy shadowe as the night in the midday: hide them that are chased out: bewray not him that is fled.

4 Que' del mio popolo che sono scacciati, dimorino appresso di te; o Moab, sii loro un nascondimento dal guastatore; perciocchè colui che usava storsioni verrà meno, e il guastamento finirà, [e] coloro che calpestavano [gli altri] saran consumati d'in su la terra.

Let my banished dwell with thee: Moab be thou their couert from the face of the destroyer: for the extortioner shall ende: the destroyer shalbe consumed, and the oppressour shall cease out of the land.

5 E il trono sarà stabilito in benignità; e sopra quello sederà stabilmente, nel tabernacolo di Davide, uno che giudicherà, e ricercherà la ragione, e sarà pronto a far giustizia.

And in mercy shall the throne be prepared, and hee shall sit vpon it in stedfastnesse, in the tabernacle of Dauid, iudging, and seeking iudgement, and hasting iustice.

6 Noi abbiamo intesa la superbia di Moab, grandemente superbo; il suo orgoglio, e la sua alterezza, e la sua indegnazione; le sue menzogne non [saranno] cosa ferma.

We haue heard of the pride of Moab, (he is very proud) euen his pride, and his arrogancie, and his indignation, but his lies shall not be so.

7 Perciò, l'un Moabita urlerà all'altro; tutti quanti urleranno; voi gemerete per li fondamenti di Chir-hareset, essendo voi stessi feriti.

Therefore shall Moab howle vnto Moab: euery one shall howle: for the foundations of Kirhareseth shall ye mourne, yet they shalbe striken.

8 Perciocchè le campagne di Hesbon, [e] le vigne di Sibma languiscono; i padroni delle nazioni hanno tritate le viti eccellenti di essa, [le quali] arrivavano infino a Iazer, [e] scorrevano qua e là per lo deserto; [e] le sue propaggini, [che si] spandevano, e passavano di là dal mare.

For ye vineyards of Heshbon are cut downe, and the vine of Sibmah: the lordes of the heathen haue broken the principal vines thereof: they are come vnto Iaazer: they wandred in the wildernesse: her goodly branches stretched out them selues, and went ouer the sea.

9 Perciò, io piangerò le vigne di Sibma del pianto di Iazer; o Hesbon, ed Eleale, io ti righerò delle mie lagrime; perciocchè le grida di allegrezza per li tuoi frutti di state, e per la tua ricolta, son venute meno.

Therefore will I weepe with the weeping of Iaazer, and of the vine of Sibmah, O Heshbon: and Elealeh, I will make thee drunke with my teares, because vpon thy sommer fruits, and vpon thy haruest a showting is fallen.

10 E la letizia, e la festa è tolta via dal campo fertile; e non si canta, nè si giubila [più] nelle vigne; il pigiatore non pigia [più] il vino ne' tini; io ho fatte cessare, [dice il Signore], le grida da inanimare.

And gladnes is taken away, and ioy out of the plentifull fielde: and in the vineyardes shall be no singing nor shouting for ioy: the treader shall not tread wine in the wine presses: I haue caused the reioycing to cease.

11 Perciò, le mie viscere romoreggeranno a guisa di cetera, per cagion di Moab; e le mie interiora, per cagion di Chir-heres.

Wherefore, my bowels shall sounde like an harpe for Moab, and mine inwarde partes for Ker-haresh.

12 Ed avverrà che, quantunque Moab si presenti, [e] si affatichi sopra il [suo] alto luogo, e venga al suo santuario, per fare orazione; pur non potrà [avanzar nulla].

And when it shall appeare that Moab shall be wearie of his hie places, then shall hee come to his temple to praie, but he shall not preuaile.

13 Quest'[è] la parola che il Signore ha detta contro a Moab, ab antico.

This is the word that the Lord hath spoken against Moab since that time.

14 Ed ora il Signore ha parlato, dicendo: Infra tre anni, quale [è il termine] degli anni d'un servitore tolto a prezzo, la gloria di Moab sarà avvilita, insieme con tutta la [sua] gran moltitudine di popolo; e il rimanente [sarà] in poco numero, piccolo, e non grande. Il carico di Damasco

And nowe the Lord hath spoken, saying, In three yeres, as the yeeres of a hireling, and the glorie of Moab shall be contemned in all the great multitude, and the remnant shalbe very small and feeble.
