Osea 14
1 ISRAELE, convertiti al Signore Iddio tuo; conciossiachè tu sii caduto per la tua iniquità.
Return, O Israel, even unto the Lord thy God; for thou hast stumbled through thy iniquity.
2 Prendete con voi delle parole, e convertitevi al Signore; ditegli: Togli tutta l'iniquità, e ricevi il bene; e noi [ti] renderemo de' giovenchi, con le nostre labbra.
Take with you swords, and return to the Lord: say unto him, “Pardon all [our] iniquity, and accept [our return to] good; and let us repay the steers [of sacrifice] with [the prayer of] our lips.
3 Assur non ci salverà, noi non cavalcheremo [più] sopra cavalli; e non diremo più all'opera delle nostre mani: Dio nostro; conciossiachè l'orfano ottenga misericordia appo te.
Asshur shall not help us; upon horses will we not ride: and we will no more say, Ye are our gods, to the work of our hands; for in thee alone the fatherless obtaineth mercy.”
4 Io guarirò la lor ribellione, io li amerò di buona volontà; perciocchè la mia ira si sarà rivolta da loro.
I will heal their backsliding, I will love them freely; for my anger is turned away from them.
5 Io sarò come la rugiada ad Israele; egli fiorirà come il giglio, e getterà le sue radici come [gli alberi del] Libano.
I will be as the dew unto Israel: he shall bloom as the lily; and he shall strike his roots as [the forests of] Lebanon.
6 I suoi rampolli si spanderanno, e la sua bellezza sarà come [quella] dell'ulivo, e renderà odore come il Libano.
His suckers shall spread out, and his beauty shall be as that of the olive-tree, and his smell as that of the Lebanon.
7 Ritorneranno, [e] sederanno all'ombra di esso; germoglieranno come il frumento, e fioriranno come la vite; la ricordanza di esso [sarà] come il vino del Libano.
They shall return that sat under his shade; they shall revive as corn, and bloom as the vine: the scent of which shall be as that of the wine of Lebanon.
8 O Efraim, che ho io più da far con gl'idoli? Io [l]'esaudirò, e lo riguarderò; io [gli sarò] come un abete verdeggiante; per me si troverà il tuo frutto.
Ephraim [shall say], What have I to do any more with idols? I have answered, and will observe him; I will be [to him] like a green fir-tree; through me is thy fruit found.
9 Chi [è] savio? ponga mente a queste cose; [chi è] intendente? le riconosca; conciossiachè le vie del Signore [sieno] diritte, e i giusti cammineranno in esse; ma i trasgressori vi caderanno.
Who is wise, that he may understand these things? intelligent, that he may know them? for righteous are the ways of the Lord; and the just shall walk in them; but the transgressors will stumble through them.
