Ebrei 3

1 LAONDE, fratelli santi, che siete partecipi della celeste vocazione, considerate l'apostolo, e il sommo sacerdote della nostra professione, Gesù Cristo;

Whence, holy brethren, partners, in a heavenly calling, attentively consider the Apostle and High—priest of our confession—Jesus

2 che è fedele a colui che lo ha costituito, siccome ancora [fu] Mosè in tutta la casa d'esso.

As one, faithful, to him who made him: as, Moses also, in [all] his house.

3 Perciocchè, di tanto maggior gloria che Mosè è costui stato reputato degno, quanto maggior gloria ha colui che ha fabbricata la casa, che la casa stessa.

For, of more glory than Moses, hath, this one been counted worthy—by as much as more honour than, the house, hath, he that prepared it;

4 Poichè ogni casa è fabbricata da alcuno; or colui che ha fabbricate tutte le cose [è] Dio.

For, every house, is prepared by someone, —but, he that hath prepared all things, is, God.

5 E ben [fu] Mosè fedele in tutta la casa d'esso, come servitore, per testimoniar delle cose che si dovevano dire.

Even Moses, indeed, was faithful in all his house, as an attendant, for a witness of the things which were to be spoken;

6 Ma Cristo [è] sopra la casa sua, come Figliuolo; e la sua casa siamo noi, se pur riteniamo ferma infino al fine la libertà, e il vanto della speranza.

But, Christ, as, a Son, over his house, —whose house are, we, —if, the freedom of speech and boast of the hope, [throughout, firm, ] we hold fast.

7 Perciò, come dice lo Spirito Santo:

Wherefore, —according as saith the Holy Spirit—To-day, if, unto his voice ye would hearken, do not

8 Oggi, se udite la sua voce, non indurate i cuori vostri, come nella ribellione, nel giorno della tentazione, nel deserto;

harden your hearts, —as in the embitterment, in the day of testing in the desert,

9 dove i vostri padri mi tentarono, fecer prova di me, e videro le mie opere, lo spazio di quarant'anni.

When your fathers tested by proving, and saw my works forty years.

10 Perciò, io mi recai a noia quella generazione, e dissi: Sempre errano del cuore; ed anche non hanno conosciute le mie vie;

Wherefore I was sore vexed with this generation, and said, Always err they in their heart; —howbeit, they, learned not my ways:

11 talchè giurai nell'ira mia: Se [giammai] entrano nel mio riposo.

So I sware in mine anger—they shall not enter into my rest!—

12 Guardate, fratelli, che talora non vi sia in alcun di voi un cuor malvagio d'incredulità, per ritrarvi dall'Iddio vivente.

Be taking heed, brethren, lest at any time, there shall be in any one of you, a wicked heart of unbelief, in revolting from a Living God.

13 Anzi esortatevi gli uni gli altri tuttodì, mentre è nominato quest'oggi, acciocchè niun di voi sia indurato per inganno del peccato.

But be exhorting one another, on each successive day, —while the To-day is being named! lest any from among you be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin.

14 Poichè noi siamo stati fatti partecipi di Cristo, se pur riteniamo fermo infino al fine il principio della [nostra] sussistenza.

For, partners of the Christ, have we become, —if, at least, the beginning of the confidence, throughout, firm, we hold fast:

15 Mentre [ci] è detto: Oggi, se udite la sua voce, non indurate i cuori vostri, come nel dì della ribellione.

So long as it is said—To-day, if, unto his voice, ye would hearken, do not harden your hearts, —as in the embitterment.

16 Perciocchè chi, avendo[la] udita, si ribellò? Non [furono eglino] già tutti quelli ch'erano usciti d'Egitto per [opera di] Mosè?

For, who, though they heard, caused embitterment? Nay, indeed! did not all who come forth out of Egypt through Moses?

17 Ora, chi furon coloro ch'egli si recò a noia lo spazio di quarant'anni? non [furono eglino] coloro che peccarono, i cui corpi caddero nel deserto?

But, with whom, was be sore vexed forty years? Was it not with them who sinned, whose dead bodies fell in the desert?

18 Ed a' quali giurò egli che non entrerebbero nel suo riposo, se non a quelli che furono increduli?

But, unto whom, sware he, that they should not enter into his rest, —save unto them who were obstinate?

19 E noi vediamo che per l'incredulità non [vi] poterono entrare.

And we see, that they were not able to enter, because of unbelief.
