Genesi 31

1 OR egli udì le parole de' figliuoli di Labano, che dicevano: Giacobbe ha tolto a nostro padre tutto il suo avere; e di quello ch' [era] di nostra padre, egli ha acquistata tutta questa dovizia.

And Iacob herde the wordes of Labas sonnes how they sayde: Iacob hath take awaye all that was oure fathers and of oure fathers goodes hath he gote all this honoure.

2 Giacobbe ancora vide che la faccia di Labano non [era] verso lui qual [soleva esser] per addietro.

And Iacob behelde the countenauce of Laban that it was not toward him as it was in tymes past.

3 E il Signore disse a Giacobbe: Ritornatene al paese de' tuoi, ed al tuo luogo natio, ed io sarò teco.

And the LORde sayde vnto Iacob: turne agayne in to the lade of thy fathers and to thy kynred and I wilbe with ye.

4 E Giacobbe mandò a chiamar Rachele e Lea, a' campi, presso della sua greggia.

Tha Iacob sent and called Rahel and Lea to the felde vnto his shepe

5 E disse loro: Io veggo che la faccia di vostro padre non [è] inverso me qual [soleva esser] per addietro; e pur l'Iddio di mio padre è stato meco.

and sayde vnto the: I se youre fathers countenauce yt it is not toward me as in tymes past. Morouer ye God of my father hath bene with me.

6 E voi sapete che ho servito a vostro padre di tutto il mio potere.

And ye knowe how that I haue serued youre father with all my myghte.

7 Ma egli mi ha ingannato, e m'ha cambiato il mio salario dieci volte; ma Iddio non gli ha permesso di farmi alcun danno.

And youre father hath disceaued me and chaunged my wages. x. tymes: But God suffred him not to hurte me.

8 Se egli diceva così: Le macchiate saranno il tuo salario, tutta la greggia figliava [parti] macchiati; e se diceva così: Le vergate saranno il tuo salario, tutta la greggia figliava [parti] vergati.

When he sayde the spotted shalbe thy wages tha all the shepe barespotted. Yf he sayde the straked shalbe thi rewarde tha bare all the shepe straked:

9 E Iddio ha tolto il bestiame a vostro padre, e me lo ha dato.

thus hath God take awaye youre fathers catell and geue the me.

10 Ed avvenne [una volta], al tempo che le pecore entrano in calore, che io alzai gli occhi, e vidi in sogno che i becchi ed i montoni che ammontavano le pecore e le capre, [erano] vergati, macchiati e grandinati.

For in buckynge tyme I lifted vp myne eyes and sawe in a dreame: and beholde the rammes that bucked the shepe were straked spotted and partie.

11 E l'angelo di Dio mi disse in sogno: Giacobbe. Ed io dissi: Eccomi.

And the angell of God spake vnto me in a dreame saynge: Iacob. And I answered: here am I.

12 Ed egli disse: Alza ora gli occhi, e vedi tutti i becchi e i montoni, che ammontano le capre e le pecore, [come son tutti] vergati, macchiati, e grandinati; perciocchè io ho veduto tutto quello che Labano ti fa.

And he sayde: lyfte vp thyne eyes ad see how all therames that leape vpon the shepe are straked spotted and partie: for I haue sene all that Laban doth vnto ye.

13 Io [son] l'Iddio di Betel, dove tu ugnesti [quel] piliere, e dove tu mi facesti [quel] voto; ora levati, e partiti di questo paese, e ritornatene nel tuo natio paese.

I am ye god of Bethell where thou anoynteddest the stone ad where thou vowdest a vowe vnto me. Now aryse and gett the out of this countre ad returne vnto the lade where thou wast borne.

14 E Rachele e Lea risposero, e dissero: Abbiamo noi più alcuna parte od eredità in casa di nostro padre?

Than answered Rahel and Lea and sayde vnto him: we haue no parte nor enheritaunce in oure fathers house

15 Non fummo noi da lui reputate straniere, quando egli ci vendette? ed oltre a ciò egli ha tutti mangiati i nostri danari.

he cownteth us eue as straungers for he hath solde vs and hath euen eaten vp the price of vs.

16 Conciossiachè tutte queste facoltà che Iddio ha tolte a nostro padre, già fosser nostre e de' nostri figliuoli; ora dunque fa' [pur] tutto quello che Iddio ti ha detto.

Moreouer all the riches which God hath take from oure father that is oures and oure childerns. Now therfore what soeuer God hath sayde vnto the that doo.

17 E Giacobbe si levò, e mise i suoi figliuoli e le sue mogli in su de' cammelli.

Tha Iacob rose vp and sett his sones and wiues vp vpon camels

18 E ne menò tutto il suo bestiame, e tutte le sue facoltà ch'egli avea acquistate; il bestiame ch'egli avea acquistato in Paddan-aram per venirsene nel paese di Canaan, ad Isacco suo padre.

and caried away all his catell and all his substace which he had gotte in Mesopotamia for to goo to Isaac his father vnto the lade of Canaan.

19 Or Labano se n'era andato a tondere le sue pecore; e Rachele rubò gl'idoli di suo padre.

Laba was gone to shere his shepe and Rahel had stolle hir fathers ymages.

20 E Giacobbe si partì furtivamente da Labano, Sirio; perciocchè egli non gliel dichiarò; conciossiachè egli se ne fuggisse.

And Iacob went awaye vnknowynge to Laban the Sirie and tolde him not yt he fled.

21 Egli adunque se ne fuggì, con tutto quello ch'egli avea; e si levò, e passò il Fiume, e si dirizzò [verso il] monte di Galaad.

So fled he and all yt he had and made him self redy and passed ouer the ryuers and sett his face streyght towarde the mounte Gilead.

22 E il terzo giorno [appresso] fu rapportato a Labano, che Giacobbe se n'era fuggito.

Apo the thirde day after was it tolde Laba yt Iacob was fled.

23 Allora egli prese seco i suoi fratelli, e lo perseguì per sette giornate di cammino; e lo raggiunse al monte di Galaad.

Tha he toke his brethre with him and folowed after him. vij. dayes iourney and ouer toke him at the mounte Gilead.

24 Ma Iddio venne a Labano, Sirio, in sogno di notte, e gli disse: Guardati che tu non venga a parole con Giacobbe, nè in bene, nè in male.

And God came to Laba the Siria in a dreame by nyghte and sayde vnto him: take hede to thi selfe that thou speake not to Iacob oughte save good.

25 Labano adunque raggiunse Giacobbe. E Giacobbe avea tesi i suoi padiglioni in sul monte; e Labano, co' suoi fratelli, tese parimente i suoi nel monte di Galaad.

And Laba ouer toke Iacob: and Iacob had pitched his tete in yt mounte. And Laban with his brethern pitched their tete also apon the mounte Gilead.

26 E Labano disse a Giacobbe: Che hai tu fatto, partendoti da me furtivamente, e menandone le mie figliuole come prigioni di guerra?

Than sayde Laba to Iacob: why hast thou this done vnknowynge to me and hast caried awaye my doughters as though they had bene take captyue with swerde?

27 Perchè ti sei fuggito celatamente, e ti sei furtivamente partito da me, e non me l'hai fatto assapere? ed io ti avrei accommiatato con allegrezza e con canti, con tamburi e con cetere.

Wherfore wentest thou awaye secretly vnknowne to me and didest not tell me yt I myghte haue broughte yt on the waye with myrth syngynge tymrells and harppes

28 E non mi hai pur permesso di baciare i miei figliuoli e le mie figliuole; ora tu hai stoltamente fatto.

and hast not suffred me to kysse my childern and my doughters. Thou wast a fole to do

29 E' sarebbe in mio potere di farvi del male; ma l'Iddio del padre vostro mi parlò la notte passata, dicendo: Guardati che tu non venga a parole con Giacobbe, nè in bene, nè in male.

it for I am able to do you evell. But the God of youre father spake vnto me yesterdaye saynge take hede tha thou speake not to Iacob oughte saue goode.

30 Ora dunque, siitene pure andato, poichè del tutto bramavi la casa di tuo padre; [ma], perchè hai tu rubati i miei dii?

And now though thou wetest thi waye because thou logest after thi fathers house yet wherfore hast thou stollen my goddes?

31 E Giacobbe rispose, e disse a Labano: [Io me ne son così andato], perchè io avea paura; perciocchè io diceva [che mi conveniva guardar] che talora tu non rapissi le tue figliuole d'appresso a me.

Iacob answered and sayde to Laba: because I was afrayed and thought that thou woldest haue take awaye thy doughters fro me.

32 Colui, appo il quale tu avrai trovati i tuoi dii, non sia lasciato vivere; riconosci, in presenza de' nostri fratelli, se vi è nulla [del tuo] appo me, e prendite[lo]. Or Giacobbe non sapeva che Rachele avesse rubati quegl'iddii.

But with whome soeuer thou fyndest thy goddes let him dye here before oure brethre. Seke that thine is by me and take it to the: for Iacob wist not that Rahel had stolle the.

33 Labano adunque entrò nel padiglione di Giacobbe, e nel padiglione di Lea, e nel padiglione delle due serve, e non [li] trovò; ed uscito del padiglione di Lea, entrò nel padiglione di Rachele.

Tha wet Laba in to Iacobs tete and in to Leas tete and in to. ij. maydens tentes: but fownde the not. Tha wet he out of Leas tete and entred in to Rahels tete.

34 Ma Rachele avea presi quegl'idoli, e li avea messi dentro l'arnese d'un cammello, e s'era posta a sedere sopra essi; e Labano frugò tutto il padiglione, e non [li] trovò.

And Rahel toke the ymages and put them in the camels strawe and sate doune apo the. And Laba serched all the tete: but fownde the not.

35 Ed ella disse a suo padre: Non prenda il mio signore sdegno, ch'io non posso levarmi su davanti a te; perciocchè io ho quello che sogliono aver le donne. Egli adunque investigò, ma non trovò quegl'idoli.

Tha sayde she to hir father: my lorde be not angrye yt I ca not ryse vp before the for the disease of weme is come apon me. So searched he but foude the not.

36 E Giacobbe si adirò, e contese con Labano, e gli parlò, e gli disse: Qual misfatto, o qual peccato ho io commesso, che tu mi abbi così ardentemente perseguito?

Iacob was wrooth and chode with Laba: Iacob also answered and sayde to him: what haue I trespaced or what haue I offended that thou foloweddest after me?

37 Poichè tu hai frugate tutte le mie masserizie, che hai tu trovato di tutte le masserizie di casa tua? metti[lo] qui davanti a' tuoi e miei fratelli, acciocchè giudichino chi di noi due ha ragione.

Thou hast searched all my stuffe and what hast thou founde of all thy housholde stuffe? put it here before thi brethern and myne and let the iudge betwyxte vs both.

38 Già [son] vent'anni [ch'io sono stato] teco; le tue pecore e le tue capre non hanno disperduto, ed io non ho mangiati i montoni della tua greggia.

This xx. yere yt I haue bene wyth the thy shepe and thy gootes haue not bene baren and the rammes of thi flocke haue I not eate.

39 Io non ti ho portato ciò ch'era lacerato; io l'ho pagato; tu me lo hai ridomandato: [come ancora] se alcuna cosa era stata rubata di giorno o di notte.

What soeuer was torne of beastes I broughte it not vnto ye but made it good mysilf: of my hade dydest thou requyre it whether it was stollen by daye or nyghte

40 Io mi son portato in maniera che il caldo mi consumava di giorno, e di notte il gelo, e il sonno mi fuggiva dagli occhi.

Moreouer by daye the hete consumed me and the colde by nyghte and my slepe departed fro myne eyes.

41 Già [son] vent'anni [ch' io sono] in casa tua, io ti ho servito quattordici anni per le tue due figliuole, e sei anni per le tue pecore; e tu mi hai mutato il mio salario dicei volte.

Thus haue I bene. xx. yere in thi house and serued the. xiiij. yeres forthy. ij. doughters and vi. yere for thi shepe and thou hast changed my rewarde. x. tymes.

42 Se l'Iddio di mio padre, l'Iddio di Abrahamo, e il terrore d'Isacco, non fosse stato meco, certo tu mi avresti ora rimandato voto. Iddio ha veduta la mia afflizione, e la fatica delle mie mani: e [però] la notte passata ne ha data la sentenza.

And excepte the God of my father the God of Abraha and the God whome Isaac feareth had bene with me: surely thou haddest sent me awaye now all emptie. But God behelde my tribulation and the laboure of my handes: and rebuked the yester daye.

43 Labano rispose a Giacobbe, e gli disse: Queste figliuole [son] mie figliuole, e questi figliuoli [son] miei figliuoli, e queste pecore [son] mie pecore, e tutto quello che tu vedi [è] mio; e che farei io oggi a queste mie figliuole, ovvero a' lor figliuoli che esse hanno partoriti?

Laban answered ad sayde vnto Iacob: the doughters are my doughters and the childern ar my childern and the shepe are my shepe ad all that thou seist is myne. And what can I do this daye vnto these my doughters or vnto their childern which they haue borne?

44 Ora dunque, vieni, facciam patto insieme, tu ed io; e sia [ciò] per testimonianza fra me e te.

Now therfore come on let us make a bonde I and thou together and let it be a wytnesse betwene the and me.

45 E Giacobbe prese una pietra, e la rizzò [per] un piliere.

Than toke Iacob a stone and sett it vp an ende

46 E Giacobbe disse a' suoi fratelli: Raccogliete delle pietre. Ed essi presero delle pietre, e [ne] fecero un mucchio, e mangiarono quivi.

ad sayde vnto his brethern gather stoones And they toke stoones ad made an heape and they ate there vpo the heape.

47 E Labano chiamò quel mucchio Iegar-sahaduta; e Giacobbe gli pose nome Galed.

And Laba called it Iegar Sahadutha but Iacob called it Gylead.

48 E Labano disse: Questo mucchio [è] oggi testimonio fra me e te; perciò fu nominato Galed:

Than sayde Laban: this heape be witnesse betwene the and me this daye (therfore is it called Gilead)

49 ed [anche] Mispa; perciocchè [Labano] disse: Il Signore riguardi fra te e me, quando non ci potremo vedere l'un l'altro.

and this totehill which the lorde seeth (sayde he) be wytnesse betwene me and the when we are departed one from a nother:

50 Se tu affliggi le mie figliuole, ovvero, se tu prendi altre mogli oltre alle mie figliuole, non un uomo [è testimonio] fra noi; vedi: Iddio [è] testimonio fra me e te.

that thou shalt not vexe my doughters nether shalt take other wyves vnto them. Here is no man with vs: beholde God is wytnesse betwixte the and me.

51 Labano, oltre a ciò, disse a Giacobbe: Ecco questo mucchio che io ho ammonticchiato, ed ecco questo piliere fra me e te.

And Laban sayde moreouer to Iacob: beholde this heape and this marke which I haue sett here betwyxte me and the:

52 Questo mucchio [sarà] testimonio, e questo piliere ancora [sarà] testimonio, che nè io non passerò questo mucchio [per andare] a te, nè tu non passerai questo mucchio e questo piliere, [per venire] a me, per male.

this heape be wytnesse and also this marcke that I will not come ouer this heape to the ad thou shalt not come ouer this heape ad this marke to do any harme.

53 L'Iddio di Abrahamo, e l'Iddio di Nahor, l'Iddio del padre loro, sieno giudici fra noi. Ma Giacobbe giurò per lo terrore d'Isacco, suo padre.

The God of Abraham the God of Nahor and the God of theyr fathers be iudge betwixte vs. And Iacob sware by him that his father Isaac feared.

54 E Giacobbe sacrificò un sacrificio in su quel monte, e chiamò i suoi fratelli a mangiar del pane. Essi adunque mangiarono del pane, e dimorarono quella notte in su quel monte.

Then Iacob dyd sacrifyce vpon the mounte and called his brethern to eate breed. And they ate breed and taried all nyghte in the hyll.

55 E la mattina, Labano si levò a buon'ora, e baciò le sue figliuole, e i suoi figliuoli, e li benedisse. Poi se ne andò, e ritornò al suo luogo.

And early in the mornynge Laban rose vp and kyssed his childern and his doughters and blessed the and departed and wet vnto his place agayne.
