1 ISACCO adunque chiamò Giacobbe, e lo benedisse, e gli comandò, e gli disse: Non prender moglie delle figliuole di Canaan.
Then Isaac called Jacob, and blessed him, —and commanded him and said to him, Thou shalt not take a wife of the daughters of Canaan.
2 Levati, vattene in Paddan-aram, alla casa di Betuel, padre di tua madre, e prenditi di là moglie, delle figliuole di Labano, fratello di tua madre.
Rise, go thy way to Padan-aram to the house of Bethuel, thy mother’s father, —and take thee from thence a wife, of the daughters of Laban, thy mother’s brother.
3 E l'Iddio Onnipotente ti benedica, e ti faccia fruttare, e crescere; talchè tu diventi una raunanza di popoli.
And, GOD Almighty, bless thee, and make thee fruitful, and multiply thee, so shalt thou become a multitude of peoples.
4 E ti dia la benedizione di Abrahamo; a te, ed alla tua progenie teco; acciocchè tu possegga il paese dove sei andato peregrinando, il quale Iddio donò ad Abrahamo.
And may he give thee the blessing of Abraham, to thee, and to thy seed with thee, —that thou mayest possess the land of thy sojournings, which God gave to Abraham.
5 Isacco adunque ne mandò Giacobbe; ed egli si ne andò in Paddan-aram, a Labano, figliuolo di Betuel, Sirio, fratello di Rebecca, madre di Giacobbe e di Esaù.
So Isaac sent away Jacob, and he took his journey to Padan-aram, —unto Laban son of Bethuel, the Syrian, brother of Rebekah, mother of Jacob and Esau.
6 Ed Esaù vide che Isacco avea benedetto Giacobbe, e l'avea mandato in Paddan-aram, acciocchè di là si prendesse moglie; e che, benedicendolo, gli avea vietato e detto: Non prender moglie delle figliuole di Canaan;
And Esau beheld that Isaac, when he blessed Jacob, and sent him to Padan-aram, to take to himself from thence a wife, that in blessing him, he laid command upon him, saying, Thou shalt not take a wife of the daughters of Canaan;
7 e che Giacobbe avea ubbidito a suo padre ed a sua madre, e se n'era andato in Paddan-aram.
And that Jacob hearkened unto his father and unto his mother, —and took his journey to Padan-aram.
8 Esaù vedeva, oltre a ciò, che le figliuole di Canaan dispiacevano ad Isacco suo padre.
So then Esau beheld that displeasing, were the daughters of Caanan, —in the eyes of Isaac his father:
9 Ed egli andò ad Ismaele, e prese per moglie Mahalat, figliuola d'Ismaele, figliuolo di Abrahamo, sorella di Nebaiot; oltre alle sue [altre] mogli.
Esau therefore went unto Ishmael, —and took Mahalath daughter of Ishmael son of Abraham sister of Nebaioth, to himself to wife, in addition to the wives that he had.
10 OR Giacobbe partì di Beerseba, ed andando in Charan,
So Jacob went forth from Beer-sheba, and journeyed towards Haran.
11 capitò in un [certo] luogo, e vi stette la notte; perciocchè il sole era [già] tramontato, e prese delle pietre del luogo, e le pose [per] suo capezzale; e giacque in quel luogo.
And he lighted on a place, and tarried the night there, because the sun had gone in, —and he took of the stones of the place, and put for his pillow, and lay down in that place,
12 E sognò; ed ecco una scala rizzata in terra, la cui cima giungeva al cielo; ed ecco gli angeli di Dio salivano e scendevano per essa.
And he dreamed, and lo! a stairway, planted earthwards, with, its top, reaching towards the heavens, —and lo! messengers of God, ascending and descending thereon;
13 Ed ecco, il Signore stava al disopra di essa. Ed egli disse: Io [sono] il Signore Iddio di Abrahamo tuo padre, e l'Iddio d'Isacco; io darò a te, ed alla tua progenie, il paese sopra il quale tu giaci.
and lo! Yahweh, standing by him, —and he said, I, am Yahweh, God of Abraham thy father and God of Isaac, —The land whereon, thou, art lying, to thee, will I give it and to thy seed;
14 E la tua progenie sarà come la polvere della terra; e tu ti spanderai verso occidente, e verso oriente, e verso settentrione, e verso mezzodì; e tutte le nazioni della terra saranno benedette in te, e nella tua progenie.
And thy seed shall become as the dust of the earth, and thou shalt break forth westward and eastward, and northward and southward, —And all the families of the ground shall be blessed in thee and in thy seed.
15 Ed ecco, io [son] teco, e ti guarderò dovunque tu andrai, e ti ricondurrò in questo paese; perciocchè io non ti abbandonerò, finchè io abbia fatto ciò che ti ho detto.
Lo! then, I, am with thee, so will I keep thee in every place whithersoever thou mayest go, and will bring thee back unto this soil, —For I will not forsake thee until I have done that of which I have spoken to thee.
16 E quando Giacobbe si fu risvegliato dal suo sonno, disse: Per certo il Signore è in questo luogo, ed io nol sapeva.
And Jacob awoke from his sleep, and said. Surely, Yahweh was in this place, And I, knew it not.
17 E temette, e disse: Quanto [è] spaventevole questo luogo! questo luogo non [è altro] che la casa di Dio, e questa [è] la porta del cielo.
And he feared and said, How fearful is this place! None other this, than the house of God! Nor this than the gate of the heavens
18 E Giacobbe si levò la mattina a buon'ora, e prese la pietra, la quale avea posta [per] suo capezzale, e ne fece un piliere, e versò dell'olio sopra la sommità di essa.
So Jacob rose early in the morning, and took the stone which he had put for his pillow, and put it for a pillar, —and poured out oil upon the top thereof;
19 E pose nome a quel luogo Betel; conciossiachè prima il nome di quella città fosse Luz.
and called the name of that place—Beth-el, —nevertheless, Luz, was the name of the city, aforetime.
20 E Giacobbe fece un voto, dicendo: Se Iddio [è] meco, e mi guarda in questo viaggio che io fo, e mi dà del pane da mangiare, e de' vestimenti da vestirmi;
And Jacob vowed a vow, saying, —If God will be with me, and will keep me in this way whereon, I, am going, and give me bread to eat and raiment to put on;
21 e se io ritorno sano e salvo a casa di mio padre, il Signore sarà il mio Dio.
and I come back in prosperity unto the house of my father, Then will Yahweh prove to be my God, —
22 E questa pietra, della quale ho fatto un piliere, sarà una casa di Dio, e del tutto io ti darò la decima di tutto quel che tu mi avrai donato.
And, this stone which I have put for a pillar, shall be the house of God, —And, of all which thou shalt give me, a tenth, will I tithe unto thee.
