Esodo 7
1 E il Signore disse a Mosè: Vedi, io ti ho costituito [per essere in luogo di] Dio a Faraone; ed Aaronne, tuo fratello, sarà tuo profeta.
Then Yahweh said to Moses/me, “Listen [carefully]. [Just like I enabled prophet to speak my messages], I will cause the king [to consider that] you are like a god, and that Aaron is like a prophet.
2 Tu dirai tutte le cose che io ti avrò comandate; e parli Aaronne, tuo fratello, a Faraone, acciocchè lasci andar dal suo paese i figliuoli d'Israele.
You must tell everything I command you [to tell to your older] brother Aaron, and he will tell that to the king. He must tell the king to let the Israeli people leave his land.
3 Ma io indurerò il cuor di Faraone; e moltiplicherò i miei segni ed i miei prodigi nel paese di Egitto.
But I will make the king stubborn [IDM]. As a result, even though I perform many kinds of (miracles/terrifying things) [DOU] [here] in Egypt,
4 E pur ancora Faraone non vi porgerà orecchio; ma io metterò la mia mano in sul paese di Egitto e trarrò fuor del paese di Egitto le mie schiere, il mio popolo, i figliuoli d'Israele, con grandi giudicii.
the king will not pay any attention to what you say. Then I will punish [MTY] the people of Egypt [MTY] very severely [MTY], and I will lead/bring the tribes of the Israeli people out of Egypt.
5 E gli Egizj conosceranno che io [sono] il Signore, quando avrò stesa la mia mano in su l'Egitto, e avrò tratti fuori d'infra loro i figliuoli d'Israele.
Then, when I show my great power [MTY] to the Egyptian people and bring the Israeli people out from among them, they will know that I, Yahweh, [have the power to do what I say that I will do].”
6 E Mosè ed Aaronne fecero così; essi fecero intieramente come il Signore avea lor comandato.
Aaron and Moses/I did what Yahweh told them/us to do. They/We [went and spoke to the king].
7 Ora, Mosè [era] d'età di ottant'anni, e Aaronne di ottantatrè anni, quando parlarono a Faraone.
At that time, Moses/I was 80 years old, and Aaron was 83 years old.
8 E il Signore parlò a Mose e ad Aaronne, dicendo:
Yahweh said to Moses/me,
9 Quando Faraone parlerà a voi, e vi dirà: Fate un prodigio; tu [Mosè], di' ad Aaronne: Prendi la tua bacchetta, e gittala davanti a Faraone; ed ella diverrà un serpente.
“If the king says to you, ‘Prove [that God sent] you by performing a miracle,’ then say to Aaron, ‘Throw your stick down in front of the king, in order that it may become a snake.’”
10 Mosè adunque ed Aaronne vennero a Faraone, e fecero come il Signore avea comandato. Ed Aaronne gittò la sua bacchetta davanti a Faraone, e davanti ai suoi servitori; ed ella divenne un serpente.
So Aaron and Moses/I went to the king and did what Yahweh had commanded [them/us to do]. Aaron threw his stick down in front of the king and his officials, and it became a snake.
11 Allora Faraone chiamò eziandio i savi e gl'incantatori. E i Magi di Egitto fecero anch'essi il simigliante co' loro incantesimi.
Then the king summoned his sorcerers and men who performed magic. They did the same thing, using their magic.
12 E ciascun d'essi gittò la sua bacchetta, ed esse divennero serpenti; ma la bacchetta di Aaronne tranghiottì le lor bacchette.
They all threw down their sticks, and they became snakes. But Aaron’s stick, [which had become a snake], swallowed up all their sticks!
13 E il cuore di Faraone s'indurò, e non porse orecchio a Mosè e ad Aaronne; secondo che il Signore [ne] avea parlato.
But the king continued to be stubborn [IDM], just as Yahweh had predicted, and he would not pay attention to [what Aaron and Moses/I said].
14 E IL Signore disse a Mosè: Il cuor di Faraone è aggravato; egli ricusa di lasciare andare il popolo.
Then Yahweh said to Moses/me, “The king is very stubborn [IDM]. He refuses to allow [my] people to go.
15 Va' questa mattina a Faraone; ecco egli uscirà fuori verso l'acqua, e presentati innanzi a lui in su la riva del fiume, e prendi in mano la bacchetta ch'è stata cangiata in serpente.
So [tomorrow] morning, go to him as he is going down to the [Nile] River [to bathe]. Wait for him at the riverbank. [When he comes out of the water, show] him the stick, the one which became a snake.
16 E digli: Il Signore Iddio degli Ebrei mi avea mandato a te, dicendo: Lascia andare il mio popolo, acciocchè mi serva nel deserto; ed ecco, fino a qui tu non hai ubbidito.
Say to him, ‘Yahweh God, the one [we] Hebrews [worship], sent me to you to tell you to let my people go, in order that they may worship him in the desert. [We told you that], but you have not paid any attention to it.
17 Così ha detto il Signore: Da questo conoscerai che io [sono] il Signore: ecco, io darò una percossa con la bacchetta che io ho in mano, in su le acque che [son] nel fiume, ed esse saranno cangiate in sangue.
[So now] Yahweh says this: “This is the way you will know that I, Yahweh, [have the power to do what I say that I will do]. Watch this: I am going to strike the water that is in the Nile [River] with the stick that is in my hand. [When I do that], the water will become blood (OR, [red like] blood [MTY]).
18 E il pesce che [è] nel fiume morrà, e il fiume putirà; e gli Egizj si stancheranno per bere dell'acqua del fiume.
Then the fish in the Nile [River] will die, and the [water in] the river will stink, and the Egyptians will not be able to drink water from the Nile River.”’”
19 E il Signore disse a Mosè: Di' ad Aaronne: Prendi la tua bacchetta, e stendi la tua mano sopra le acque degli Egizj, sopra i lor fiumi, sopra i lor rivi, sopra i loro stagni, e sopra ogni raccolta delle loro acque; ed esse diverranno sangue; e vi sarà sangue per tutto il paese di Egitto, eziandio ne' [vasi di] legno e [di] pietra.
Yahweh said to Moses/me, “[When you are talking to the king], say to Aaron, ‘Hold your stick out [as though you were holding it] over the water in Egypt—over the rivers, the canals, the ponds, and over the pools of water, in order that [all of it] may become [red like] blood.’ When Aaron does that, there will be blood throughout Egypt, even in wooden jars and in stone jars.”
20 E Mosè ed Aaronne fecero come il Signore avea comandato; e [Aaronne] alzò la bacchetta, e ne percosse le acque ch'[erano] nel fiume, nel cospetto di Faraone, e nel cospetto dei suoi servitori; e tutte le acque, ch'[erano] nel fiume, furono cangiate in sangue.
So Aaron and Moses/I did what Yahweh commanded. As the king and his officials were watching, Aaron lifted up his stick and then struck the water in the Nile [River] with it. And all the water in the river turned [red like] blood.
21 E il pesce, ch'[era] nel fiume, morì, e il fiume putì, talchè gli Egizj non potevano ber delle acque del fiume: e vi fu sangue per tutto il paese di Egitto.
Then all the fish died. And the water stank, with the result that the Egyptians could not drink water from the river. Everywhere in Egypt [the water] became [red like] blood.
22 E i magi di Egitto fecero il simigliante co' loro incantesimi; e il cuor di Faraone s'indurò, e non porse orecchio a Mosè e ad Aaronne, come il Signore [ne] avea parlato.
But the men who performed magic did the same thing using their magic. So the king remained stubborn [IDM], and he would not pay attention to what Aaron and Moses/I said, just as Yahweh had predicted.
23 E Faraone, rivoltosi indietro, se ne venne in casa sua; e non pure a questo pose mente.
The king turned and went back to his palace, and he did not think any more about it [IDM].
24 E tutti gli Egizj, cavando intorno al fiume, [cercavano] acqua da bere; conciossiachè non potessero ber delle acque del fiume.
The Egyptians [HYP] dug [into the ground] near the Nile [River] to get water to drink, because they could not drink the water from the river.
25 E sette giorni intieri passarono, dopo che il Signore ebbe percosso il fiume.
(One week/Seven days) passed after Yahweh caused the water in the Nile [River to become red like blood].
