Daniele 2

1 OR Nebucadnesar, nell'anno, secondo del suo regno, sognò de' sogni, e il suo spirito [ne] fu sbigottito, e il suo sonno fu rotto.

And in the seconde yeere of the raygne of Nebuchad-nezzar, Nebuchad-nezzar dreamed dreames wherewith his spirite was troubled, and his sleepe was vpon him.

2 E il re disse che si chiamassero i magi, e gli astrologi, e gl'incantatori, e i Caldei, per dichiarare al re i suoi sogni. Ed essi vennero, e si presentarono davanti al re.

Then the King commanded to call the inchanters, and the astrologians and the sorcerers, and the Caldeans for to shewe the King his dreames: so they came and stoode before the King.

3 E il re disse loro: Io ho sognato un sogno, e il mio spirito è sbigottito, [desiderando pure] di sapere il sogno.

And the King sayde vnto them, I haue dreamed a dreame, and my spirite was troubled to knowe the dreame.

4 E i Caldei dissero al re, in lingua siriaca: O re, possa tu vivere in perpetuo! di' il sogno a' tuoi servitori, e noi ne dichiareremo l'interpretazione.

Then spake the Caldeans to the King in the Aramites language, O King, liue for euer: shewe thy seruants thy dreame, and wee shall shewe the interpretation.

5 Il re rispose, e disse a' Caldei: La cosa mi è fuggita [di mente]; se voi non mi fate assapere il sogno, e la sua interpretazione, sarete squartati, e le vostre case saranno ridotte in latrine.

And the King answered and sayd to the Caldeans, The thing is gone from me. If ye will not make me vnderstande the dreame with the interpretation thereof, ye shall be drawen in pieces, and your houses shall be made a iakes.

6 Ma se voi [mi] dichiarate il sogno, e la sua interpretazione, riceverete da me doni, presenti, e grandi onori; dichiaratemi adunque il sogno, e la sua interpretazione.

But if yee declare the dreame and the interpretation thereof, ye shall receyue of me gifts and rewardes, and great honour: therefore shewe me the dreame and the interpretation of it.

7 Essi risposero per la seconda volta, e dissero: Il re dica il sogno a' suoi servitori, e noi ne dichiareremo l'interpretazione.

They answered againe, and sayde, Let the King shewe his seruantes the dreame, and wee will declare the interpretation thereof.

8 Il re rispose, e disse: Io conosco per fermo che voi volete guadagnar tempo; perciocchè avete veduto che la cosa mi è fuggita [di mente].

Then the King answered, and sayd, I knowe certeinly that ye would gaine the time, because ye see the thing is gone from me.

9 Che se vio non mi dichiarate il sogno, vi è una [sola] sentenza per voi. Or voi vi eravate preparati a dire in mia presenza alcuna cosa falsa, e perversa, finchè il tempo fosse mutato; perciò, ditemi il sogno, ed io conoscerò che voi me ne dichiarerete l'interpretazione.

But if ye will not declare mee the dreame, there is but one iudgement for you: for ye haue prepared lying and corrupt wordes, to speake before me till the time bee changed: therefore tell me the dreame, that I may knowe, if yee can declare me the interpretation thereof.

10 I Caldei risposero in presenza del re, e dissero: Non vi è uomo alcuno sopra la terra, che possa dichiarare al re ciò ch'egli richiede; perciò anche alcun re, nè grande, nè signore, non domandò mai cotal cosa ad alcun mago, astrologo, o Caldeo.

Then the Caldeans answered before the King, and sayde, There is no man vpon earth that can declare the Kings matter: yea, there is neither king nor prince nor lorde that asked such things at an inchanter or astrologian or Caldean.

11 E la cosa che il re richiede [è] tanto ardua, che non vi è alcun altro che la possa dichiarare al re, se non gl'iddii, la cui abitazione non è con la carne.

For it is a rare thing that the King requireth, and there is none other that can declare it before the King, except the gods whose dwelling is not with flesh.

12 Perciò, il re si adirò, e si crucciò gravemente, e comandò che tutti i savi di Babilonia fosser fatti morire.

For this cause the king was angrie and in great furie, and commanded to destroy all the wise men of Babel.

13 E il decreto uscì fuori, e i savi erano uccisi; e si cercò Daniele, e i suoi compagni per farli morire.

And when sentence was giuen, the wise men were slayne: and they sought Daniel and his fellowes to be put to death.

14 Allora Daniele stolse l'[esecuzione del] decreto, e della sentenza, [commessa] ad Arioc, capitano delle guardie del re, ch'era uscito per uccidere i savi di Babilonia.

Then Daniel answered with counsel and wisedome to Arioch the Kings chiefe stewarde, which was gone foorth to put to death the wise men of Babel.

15 E fece motto ad Arioc, ufficiale del re, e gli disse: Qual è la cagione, che il re ha dato un decreto [tanto] affrettato? Allora Arioc fece assapere il fatto a Daniele.

Yea, he answered and sayde vnto Arioch the kings captaine, Why is the sentence so hastie from the king? Then Arioch declared the thing to Daniel.

16 E Daniele entrò dal re, e lo richiese che gli desse tempo, e ch'egli dichiarerebbe l'interpretazione [del sogno] al re.

So Daniel went and desired the king that he woulde giue him leasure and that he woulde shewe the king the interpretation thereof.

17 Allora Daniele andò a casa sua, e fece assaper la cosa ad Anania, a Misael, e ad Azaria, suoi compagni.

The Daniel went to his house and shewed the matter to Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah his companions,

18 Ed essi chiesero misericordia all'Iddio del cielo, intorno a questo segreto; acciocchè Daniele, e i suoi compagni non fosser messi a morte con gli altri savi di Babilonia.

That they should beseech the God of heauen for grace in this secrete, that Daniel and his fellowes should not perish with the rest of ye wise men of Babel.

19 Allora il segreto fu rivelato a Daniele, in vision notturna. In quello stante Daniele benedisse l'Iddio del cielo.

Then was the secret reueiled vnto Daniel in a vision by night: therefore Daniel praysed the God of heauen.

20 [E] Daniele prese a dire: Sia il Nome di Dio benedetto di secolo in secolo; perciocchè a lui si appartiene la sapienza, e la potenza;

And Daniel answered and sayde, The Name of God be praysed for euer and euer: for wisedome and strength are his,

21 ed egli muta i tempi, e le stagioni; egli rimuove i re, e [altresì] li stabilisce; egli dà la sapienza a' savi, e il conoscimento a quelli che son dotati d'intendimento.

And hee changeth the times and seasons: he taketh away kings: he setteth vp kings: he giueth wisedome vnto the wise, and vnderstanding to those that vnderstand.

22 Egli palesa le cose profonde ed occulte; egli conosce quel ch' [è] nelle tenebre, e la luce abita appo lui.

Hee discouereth the deepe and secrete things: he knoweth what is in darkenes, and the light dwelleth with him.

23 O Dio de' miei padri, io ti rendo gloria, e lode, che tu mi hai data sapienza, e forza; e mi hai ora dichiarato quel che noi ti abbiam domandato, avendoci fatto assapere ciò che il re richiede.

I thanke thee and prayse thee, O thou God of my fathers, that thou hast giuen mee wisedome and strength, and hast shewed me nowe the thing that wee desired of thee: for thou hast declared vnto vs the kings matter.

24 Per tanto, Daniele entrò da Arioc, al quale, il re avea data commissione di far morire i savi di Babilonia; [e] andò, e gli disse così: Non far morire i savi di Babilonia; menami davanti al re, ed io gli dichiarerò l'interpretazione [del sogno].

Therefore Daniel went vnto Arioch, whome the King had ordeyned to destroy the wise men of Babel: he went and sayde thus vnto him, Destroy not the wise men of Babel, but bring me before the King, and I will declare vnto the King the interpretation.

25 Allora Arioc menò prestamente Daniele davanti al re, e gli disse così: Io ho trovato un uomo, d'infra i Giudei, che sono in cattività, il quale dichiarerà al re l'interpretazione [del suo sogno].

Then Arioch brought Daniel before the King in all haste, and sayd thus vnto him, I haue found a man of the children of Iudah that were brought captiues, that will declare vnto the King the interpretation.

26 Il re prese a dire a Daniele, il cui nome [era] Beltsasar: Mi puoi tu dichiarare il sogno, che io ho veduto, e la sua interpretazione?

Then answered the King, and sayde vnto Daniel, whose name was Belteshazzar, Art thou able to shew me the dreame, which I haue seene, and the interpretation thereof?

27 Daniele rispose davanti al re, e disse: Il segreto, che il re domanda, nè savi, nè astrologi, nè magi, nè indovini, non possono dichiararlo al re.

Daniel answered in the presence of the King, and sayd, The secret which the King hath demanded, can neither the wise, the astrologians, the inchanters, nor the southsayers declare vnto the King.

28 Ma vi è un Dio in cielo, che rivela i segreti, ed ha fatto assapere al re Nebucadnesar quello che deve avvenire nella fine de' tempi. Il tuo sogno, e le visioni del tuo capo, in sul tuo letto, erano queste:

But there is a God in heauen that reueileth secrets, and sheweth the King Nebuchad-nezzar what shall bee in the latter dayes. Thy dreame, and the things which thou hast seene in thine heade vpon thy bed, is this.

29 O re, de' pensieri ti son saliti sopra il tuo letto, che cosa avverrebbe da questo tempo innanzi, e colui che rivela i segreti ti ha fatto assapere ciò che deve avvenire.

O King, when thou wast in thy bedde, thoughts came into thy mind, what should come to passe hereafter, and he that reueyleth secretes, telleth thee, what shall come.

30 Ora, quant'è a me, questo segreto mi è stato rivelato, non per sapienza, che sia in me sopra tutti i viventi; ma acciocchè l'interpretazione ne sia dichiarata al re, e che tu intenda i pensieri del cuor tuo.

As for me, this secret is not shewed mee for any wisedome that I haue, more then any other liuing, but onely to shewe the King the interpretation, and that thou mightest knowe the thoughts of thine heart.

31 Tu, o re, riguardavi, ed ecco una grande statua. Questa statua grande, e il cui splendore [era] eccellente, era in piè dirincontro a te; e il suo aspetto [era] spaventevole.

O King, thou sawest, and beholde, there was a great image: this great image whose glory was so excellent, stood before thee, and the forme thereof was terrible.

32 Il capo di questa statua [era] d'oro fino; il suo petto, e le sue braccia, d'argento; il suo ventre, e le sue cosce, di rame;

This images head was of fine golde, his breast and his armes of siluer, his bellie and his thighs of brasse,

33 le sue gambe, di ferro; [e] i suoi piedi, in parte di ferro, in parte di argilla.

His legges of yron, and his feete were part of yron, and part of clay.

34 Tu stavi riguardando, finchè fu tagliata una pietra, senza opera di mani, la qual percosse la statua in su i piedi, ch'[erano] di ferro, e d'argilla; e li tritò.

Thou beheldest it til a stone was cut without hands, which smote the image vpon his feete, that were of yron and clay, and brake them to pieces.

35 Allora furono insieme tritati il ferro, l'argilla, il rame, l'argento, e l'oro, e divennero come la pula della aie di state, e il vento li portò via, e non si trovò luogo alcuno per loro; e la pietra che avea percossa la statua divenne un gran monte, ed empiè tutta la terra.

Then was the yron, the clay, the brasse, the siluer and the golde broken all together, and became like the chaffe of the sommer floures, and the winde caryed them away, that no place was founde for them: and the stone that smote the image, became a great mountaine, and filled the whole earth.

36 Quest'[è] il sogno; ora ne diremo l'interpretazione davanti al re.

This is the dreame, and we will declare before the King the interpretation thereof.

37 Tu, o re, [sei] il re dei re; conciossiachè l'Iddio del cielo ti abbia dato regno, potenza, e forza, e gloria.

O King, thou art a king of Kings: for the God of heauen hath giuen thee a kingdome, power, and strength, and glorie.

38 E dovunque dimorano i figliuoli degli uomini, le bestie della campagna, e gli uccelli del cielo, egli te li ha dati in mano, e ti ha fatto signore sopra essi tutti. Tu [sei] quel capo d'oro.

And in all places where the children of men dwell, the beasts of the fielde, and the foules of the heauen hath he giuen into thine hand, and hath made thee ruler ouer them al: thou art this heade of golde.

39 E dopo te sorgerà un altro regno, più basso del tuo; e poi anche un terzo regno, [ch'è quel] del rame, il quale signoreggerà sopra tutta la terra.

And after thee shall rise another kingdome, inferiour to thee, of siluer, and another third kingdome shalbe of brasse, which shall beare rule ouer all the earth.

40 Poi vi sarà un quarto regno, duro come ferro; conciossiachè il ferro triti, e fiacchi ogni cosa: e come il ferro trita tutte quelle cose, [quello] triterà, e romperà [tutto].

And the fourth kingdome shall be strong as yron: for as yron breaketh in pieces, and subdueth all things, and as yron bruiseth all these things, so shall it breake in pieces, and bruise all.

41 E quant'è a ciò che tu hai veduti i piedi, e le lor dita, in parte d'argilla di vasellaio, e in parte di ferro, [ciò significa che] il regno sarà diviso; ed anche che vi sarà in esso della durezza del ferro; conciossiachè tu abbi veduto il ferro mescolato con l'argilla di vasellaio.

Where as thou sawest the feete and toes, parte of potters clay, and part of yron: the kingdome shalbe deuided, but there shalbe in it of the strength of the yron, as thou sawest the yron mixt with the clay, and earth.

42 E quant'è a ciò che le dita dei piedi [erano] in parte di ferro, e in parte d'argilla, [ciò significa che] il regno in parte sarà duro, in parte sarà frale.

And as the toes of the feete were parte of yron, and parte of clay, so shall the kingdome be partly strong, and partly broken.

43 E quant'è a ciò che tu hai veduto il ferro mescolato con l'argilla di vasellaio, [ciò significa che] coloro si mescoleranno per seme umano, ma non potranno unirsi l'un con l'altro; siccome il ferro non può mescolarsi con l'argilla.

And where as thou sawest yron mixt with clay and earth, they shall mingle themselues with the seede of men: but they shall not ioyne one with another, as yron can not bee mixed with clay.

44 E a' dì di questi re, l'Iddio del cielo farà sorgere un regno, il quale giammai in eterno non sarà distrutto; e quel regno non sarà lasciato ad un altro popolo; esso triterà, e consumerà tutti que' regni; ma esso durerà in eterno.

And in the dayes of these Kings, shall the God of heauen set vp a kingdome, which shall neuer be destroyed: and this kingdome shall not be giuen to another people, but it shall breake, and destroy al these kingdomes, and it shall stand for euer.

45 Conciossiachè tu abbi veduto che dal monte è stata tagliata una pietra, senza opera di mani, la quale ha tritato il ferro, il rame, l'argilla, l'argento, e l'oro. Il grande Iddio ha fatto assapere al re ciò che avverrà da questo tempo innanzi; e il sogno [è] verace, e la sua interpretazione [è] fedele.

Where as thou sawest, that the stone was cut of the mountaine without handes, and that it brake in pieces the yron, the brasse, the clay, the siluer, and the golde: so the great God hath shewed the King, what shall come to passe hereafter, and the dreame is true, and the interpretation thereof is sure.

46 Allora il re Nebucadnesar cadde sopra la sua faccia, e adorò Daniele; e comandò che gli si offerissero offerte e profumi.

Then the King Nebuchad-nezzar fell vpon his face, and bowed himselfe vnto Daniel, and commanded that they should offer meate offrings, and sweete odours vnto him.

47 [E] il re fece motto a Daniele, e [gli] disse: Di vero il vostro Dio è l'Iddio degl'iddii, e il Signore dei re, e il rivelatore de' segreti; poichè tu hai potuto rivelar questo segreto.

Also the King answered vnto Daniel, and said, I know of a trueth that your God is a God of gods, and the Lord of Kings, and the reueiler of secrets, seeing thou couldest open this secret.

48 Allora il re aggrandì Daniele, e gli donò molti gran presenti, e lo costituì rettore sopra tutta la provincia di Babilonia, e capo de' magistrati, sopra tutti i savi di Babilonia.

So the King made Daniel a great man, and gaue him many and great giftes. Hee made him gouernour ouer the whole prouince of Babel, and chiefe of the rulers, and aboue all the wise men of Babel.

49 E alla richiesta di Daniele, il re costituì sopra gli affari della provincia di Babilonia, Sadrac, Mesac, ed Abed-nego; ma Daniele [stava] alla porta del re.

Then Daniel made request to the King, and hee set Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego ouer the charge of the prouince of Babel: but Daniel sate in the gate of the King.
