Atti 13
1 OR in Antiochia, nella chiesa che vi era, v'eran certi profeti, e dottori, [cioè: ] Barnaba, e Simeone, chiamato Niger, e Lucio Cireneo, e Manaen, figliuol della nutrice di Erode il tetrarca, e Saulo.
Now there were in Antioch, distributed through the existing assembly, —prophets and teachers: both Barnabas and Symeon who was called Niger, and Lucius the Cyrenian, Manaen also, Herod the tetrarch’s foster-brother, and Saul.
2 E mentre facevano il pubblico servigio del Signore, e digiunavano, lo Spirito Santo disse: Appartatemi Barnaba e Saulo, per l'opera, alla quale io li ho chiamati.
And, as they were publicly ministering unto the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said—Separate forthwith unto me, Barnabas and Saul, unto the work whereunto I have called them.
3 Allora, dopo aver digiunato, e fatte orazioni, imposer loro le mani, e li accommiatarono.
Then, fasting and praying, and laying their hands upon them, they sent them away.
4 Essi adunque, mandati dallo Spirito Santo, scesero in Seleucia, e di là navigarono in Cipri.
They, therefore, being sent forth by the Holy Spirit, went down unto Seleucia, and, from thence, sailed away unto Cyprus;
5 E giunti in Salamina, annunziarono la parola di Dio nelle sinagoghe de' Giudei; or aveano ancora Giovanni per ministro.
And, coming to be in Salamis, they declared the word of God in the synagogues of the Jews; —and they had, John also, as an attendant.
6 Poi, traversata l'isola fino in Pafo, trovarono [quivi] un certo mago, falso profeta Giudeo, che avea nome Bar-Gesù.
And, passing through the whole island, as far as Paphos, they found a certain man, a magician, a false-prophet, a Jew, whose name was Bar-jesus;
7 Il quale era col proconsolo Sergio Paolo, uomo prudente. Costui, chiamati a sè Barnaba e Saulo, richiese d'udir la parola di Dio.
Who was with the proconsul, Sergius Paulus, an intelligent man. The same, calling for Barnabas and Saul, sought to hear the word of God.
8 Ma Elima, il mago (perciocchè così s'interpreta il suo nome), resisteva loro, cercando di stornare il proconsolo dalla fede.
But Elymas the magician, —for so, when translated, is his name, —withstood them; seeking to turn aside the proconsul from the faith.
9 E Saulo, il quale ancora [fu nominato] Paolo, essendo ripieno dello Spirito Santo, ed avendo affissati in lui gli occhi, disse:
But Saul, who is also Paul, filled with Holy Spirit, looking steadfastly at him,
10 O pieno d'ogni frode, e d' ogni malizia, figliuol del diavolo, nemico di ogni giustizia! non resterai tu mai di pervertir le diritte vie del Signore?
Said—O full of all guile, and all recklessness! Son of an adversary! Enemy of all righteousness!—Wilt thou not cease to pervert the straight ways of the Lord?
11 Ora dunque, ecco, la mano del Signore [sarà] sopra te, e sarai cieco, senza vedere il sole, fino ad un [certo] tempo. E in quello stante caligine e tenebre caddero sopra lui; e andando attorno, cercava chi lo menasse per la mano.
Now, therefore, lo! the hand of the Lord is upon thee, and thou shalt be blind, not seeing the sun, until a fitting time. And, instantly, there fell upon him a mist and darkness; and, going about, he was seeking such as might lead him by the hand.
12 Allora il proconsolo, veduto ciò ch'era stato fatto, credette, essendo sbigottito della dottrina del Signore.
Then, the proconsul, seeing what had happened, believed, being amazed at the teaching of the Lord.
13 OR Paolo, e i suoi compagni si partiron di Pafo, ed arrivaron per mare in Perga di Panfilia; e Giovanni, dipartitosi da loro, ritornò in Gerusalemme.
And, setting sail from Paphos, Paul’s company came into Perga of Pamphylia; but, John, withdrawing from them, returned unto Jerusalem.
14 Ed essi, partitisi da Perga, giunsero in Antiochia di Pisidia; ed entrati nella sinagoga nel giorno del sabato, si posero a sedere.
They, however, passing through from Perga, arrived at Antioch of Pisidia; and, going into the synagogue on the sabbath-day, sat down.
15 E dopo la lettura della legge e de' profeti, i capi della sinagoga mandarono loro a dire: Fratelli, se voi avete alcun ragionamento d'esortazione [a fare] al popolo, ditelo.
And, after the reading of the law and the prophets, the synagogue-rulers sent unto them, saying—Brethren! if there is in you a word of exhortation unto the people, say on.
16 Allora Paolo, rizzatosi, e fatto cenno con la mano, disse: Uomini Israeliti, e [voi] che temete Iddio, ascoltate.
And Paul, standing up, and making a sign with his hand, said—Ye men of Israel! and such as revere God! hearken: —
17 L'Iddio di questo popolo Israele elesse i nostri padri, ed innalzò il popolo nella [sua] dimora nel paese di Egitto; e poi con braccio elevato lo trasse fuor di quello.
The God of this people Israel, chose our fathers, and, the people, he exalted, by their sojourn in the land of Egypt, —and, with a high arm, brought he them out of it;
18 E per lo spazio d'intorno a quarant'anni, comportò i modi loro nel deserto.
And, for the time of about forty years, bare with their manners in the desert;
19 Poi, avendo distrutte sette nazioni nel paese di Canaan, distribuì loro a sorte il paese di quelle.
And, overthrowing seven nations in the land of Canaan, gave them their land as an inheritance—about four hundred and fifty years.
20 E poi appresso, per lo spazio d'intorno a quattrocencinquant'anni, diede [loro] de' Giudici, fino al profeta Samuele.
And, after these things, he gave them judges, until Samuel the prophet.
21 E da quell'ora domandarono un re; e Iddio diede loro Saulle, figliuol di Chis, uomo della tribù di Beniamino; [e così passarono] quarant'anni.
And, from that time, they asked for themselves a king, and God gave them Saul, son of Kish, a man of the tribe of Benjamin, during forty years;
22 Poi [Iddio], rimossolo, suscitò loro Davide per re; al quale eziandio egli rendette testimonianza, e disse: Io ho trovato Davide, il [figliuolo] di Iesse, uomo secondo il mio cuore, il qual farà tutte le mie volontà.
And, setting him aside, raised up, David, unto them for king, —of whom he also said, bearing witness—I have found David, the son of Jesse, —[a man] according to my heart, who will do all my will.
23 Della progenie di esso ha Iddio, secondo la [sua] promessa, suscitato ad Israele il Salvatore Gesù;
From this man’s seed, hath God, according to promise, brought unto Israel, a saviour—Jesus:
24 avendo Giovanni, avanti la venuta di lui, predicato il battesimo del ravvedimento a tutto il popolo d'Israele.
John, beforehand proclaiming, before the face of his coming in, an immersion of repentance, unto all the people of Israel.
25 E come Giovanni compieva il [suo] corso disse: Chi pensate voi che io sia? io non son [desso]; ma ecco, dietro a me viene [uno], di cui io non son degno di sciogliere i calzari de' piedi.
And, as John was fulfilling his course, he was saying—Whom are ye supposing that I am? I, am not he! But lo! there cometh, after me, one of whom I am not worthy, the sandals of his feet, to loosen.
26 Uomini fratelli, figliuoli della progenie d'Abrahamo, e que' d'infra voi che temete Iddio, a voi è stata mandata la parola di questa salute.
Brethren! sons of the race of Abraham, and those who among you revere God, —unto you, hath this word of salvation been sent forth.
27 Perciocchè gli abitanti di Gerusalemme, e i lor rettori, non avendo riconosciuto questo [Gesù], condannandolo, hanno adempiuti i detti de' profeti, che si leggono ogni sabato.
For, they who were dwelling in Jerusalem, and their rulers, not recognising him, have, by judging him, fulfilled, the very voices of the prophets which every sabbath are being read;
28 E benchè non trovassero [in lui] alcuna cagion di morte, richiesero Pilato che fosse fatto morire.
And, though no single cause of death they found, yet claimed they of Pilate that he should be slain.
29 E, dopo ch'ebbero compiute tutte le cose che sono scritte di lui, egli fu tratto giù dal legno, e fu posto in un sepolcro.
And, when they had finished all those things which, concerning him, had been written, taking him down from the tree, they put him in a tomb.
30 Ma Iddio lo suscitò da' morti.
But, God, raised him from among the dead:
31 Ed egli fu veduto per molti giorni da coloro ch'erano con lui saliti di Galilea in Gerusalemme, i quali sono i suoi testimoni presso il popolo.
Who appeared, during many days, unto them who had come up with him from Galilee unto Jerusalem; who, indeed, [now] are his witnesses unto the people.
32 E noi ancora vi evangelizziamo la promessa fatta a' padri;
We, therefore, unto you, bring the good news, as to the promise which, unto our fathers, was made, —
33 [dicendovi], che Iddio l'ha adempiuta inverso noi, lor figliuoli, avendo risuscitato Gesù, siccome ancora è scritto nel salmo secondo: Tu sei il mio Figliuolo, oggi ti ho generato.
That God hath fulfilled, the same, for our children, by raising up Jesus: as also, in the second psalm, it is written—My son, art, thou: I, this day, have begotten thee.
34 E perciocchè egli l'ha suscitato da' morti, per non tornar più nella corruzione, egli ha detto così: Io vi darò le fedeli benignità [promesse] a Davide.
And, in that he raised him from among the dead, no more destined to return unto corruption, on this wise hath he spoken—I will give unto you the faithful lovingkindnesses of David.
35 Perciò ancora egli dice in un altro [luogo: ] Tu non permetterai che il tuo Santo vegga corruzione.
Wherefore also, in a different [place], he saith—Thou wilt not give thy man of lovingkindness to see corruption.
36 Poichè veramente Davide, avendo servito al consiglio di Dio nella sua età, si è addormentato, ed è stato aggiunto a' suoi padri, ed ha veduta corruzione.
For, David, indeed, unto his own generation having done service, by the counsel of God, fell asleep, and was added unto fathers, and saw corruption;
37 Ma colui che Iddio ha risuscitato non ha veduta corruzione.
But, he whom God hath raised, did not see corruption.
38 Siavi adunque noto, fratelli, che per costui vi è annunziata remission de' peccati.
Be it known unto you, therefore, brethren, —that, through this man, unto you, remission of sins is declared;
39 E che di tutte le cose, onde per la legge di Mosè non siete potuti esser giustificati, chiunque crede è giustificato per mezzo di lui.
And, from all things from which ye could not, by the law of Moses, be justified, by this man, everyone that believeth, is justified.
40 Guardatevi adunque, che non venga sopra voi ciò che è detto ne' profeti:
Be taking heed, therefore, lest that come upon you which hath been spoken in the prophets—
41 Vedete, o sprezzatori, e maravigliatevi; e riguardate, e siate smarriti; perciocchè io fo un'opera a' dì vostri, la quale voi non crederete, quando alcuno ve [la] racconterà.
See, ye despisers, and marvel, and disappear: in that, a work, am, I, working in your days, —a work, which in nowise will ye believe, though one relate it in full unto you.
42 Ora, quando furono usciti dalla sinagoga de' Giudei, i Gentili[li] pregarono che infra la settimana le medesime cose fosser loro proposte.
And, as they were going out, they kept on beseeching that, on the ensuing sabbath, might be spoken unto them these things.
43 E dopo che la raunanza si fu dipartita, molti d'infra i Giudei, e i proseliti religiosi, seguitarono Paolo e Barnaba; i quali, ragionando loro, persuasero loro di perseverar nella grazia di Dio.
And, when the congregation was broken up, there followed many of the Jews, and of the devout proselytes, with Paul and Barnabas; who, indeed, in speaking unto them, went on persuading them to abide in the favour of God.
44 E il sabato seguente, quasi tutta la città si raunò per udir la parola di Dio.
And, on the coming sabbath, almost all the city, was gathered together, to hear the word of God.
45 Ma i Giudei, veggendo la moltitudine, furono ripieni d'invidia, e contradicevano alle cose dette da Paolo, contradicendo e bestemmiando.
But, the Jews, seeing, the multitudes, were filled with jealousy, —and began speaking against the things which, by Paul, were being spoken, defaming them.
46 E Paolo, e Barnaba, usando franchezza nel lor parlare, dissero: Egli era necessario che a voi prima si annunziasse, la parola di Dio; ma, poichè la ributtate, e non vi giudicate degni della vita eterna, ecco, noi ci volgiamo a' Gentili. (aiōnios g166)
And Paul and Barnabas, speaking boldly, said—Unto you, was it necessary, that the word of God should first be spoken: seeing ye are thrusting it from you, and, unworthy, are judging yourselves of the age-abiding life, lo! we turn unto the nations; (aiōnios g166)
47 Perciocchè così ci ha il Signore ingiunto, [dicendo: ] Io ti ho posto per [esser] luce delle Genti, acciocchè tu sii in salute fino all'estremità della terra.
For so hath the Lord commanded us—I have set thee for a light of nations, that thou mayest be for salvation unto the end of the earth.
48 E i Gentili, udendo [queste cose], si rallegrarono, e glorificavano la parola di Dio; e tutti coloro ch'erano ordinati a vita eterna credettero. (aiōnios g166)
And they of the nations, hearing [this], began to rejoice, and to be glorifying God, and they believed—as many as had become disposed for life age-abiding. (aiōnios g166)
49 E la parola del Signore si spandeva per tutto il paese.
And the word of the Lord went on to be carried through the whole country.
50 Ma i Giudei instigarono le donne religiose ed onorate, e i principali della città, e commossero persecuzione contro a Paolo, e contro a Barnaba, e li scacciarono da' lor confini.
But, the Jews, urged on the devout women of the higher class, and the chief men of the city, and roused up a persecution against Paul and Barnabas, —and thrust them out from their bounds.
51 Ed essi, scossa la polvere de' lor piedi contro a loro, se ne vennero in Iconio.
But they, shaking off the dust of their feet against them, came into Iconium.
52 E i discepoli eran ripieni di allegrezza, e di Spirito Santo.
And, the disciples, were filled with joy, and with Holy Spirit.
