2 Cronache 28

1 ACHAZ [era] d'età di vent'anni, quando cominciò a regnare; e regnò sedici anni in Gerusalemme; e non fece ciò che piace al Signore, come Davide, suo padre.

Ahaz was twentie yeere old when he began to reigne, and reigned sixteene yeere in Ierusalem, and did not vprightly in the sight of the Lord, like Dauid his father.

2 Anzi camminò per le vie dei re d'Israele; ed anche fece delle statue di getto a' Baali.

But he walked in the wayes of ye Kings of Israel, and made euen molten images for Baalim.

3 Ed incensò nella valle del figliuolo di Hinnom, e arse de' suoi figliuoli col fuoco, seguendo le abbominazioni delle genti, le quali il Signore avea scacciate d'innanzi a' figliuoli d'Israele.

Moreouer he burnt incense in the valley of Ben-hinnom, and burnt his sonnes with fire, after the abominations of the heathen whom the Lord had cast out before the children of Israel.

4 Egli sacrificava eziandio, e faceva profumi negli alti luoghi, e sopra i colli, e sotto ogni albero verdeggiante.

He sacrificed also and burnt incense in the hie places, and on hilles, and vnder euery greene tree.

5 Laonde il Signore Iddio suo lo diede in mano del re de' Siri; ed essi lo sconfissero, e presero prigione una gran moltitudine [della] sua [gente], e [la] menarono in Damasco. Egli fu eziandio dato in mano del re d'Israele, il quale lo sconfisse d'una grande sconfitta.

Wherefore the Lord his God deliuered him into the hand of the King of the Aramites, and they smote him, and tooke of his, many prisoners, and brought them to Damascus: and he was also deliuered into the hande of the King of Israel, which smote him with a great slaughter.

6 E Peca, figliuolo di Remalia, uccise in un giorno cenventimila [uomini] di Giuda, tutti uomini di valore; perciocchè aveano abbandonato il Signore Iddio de' lor padri.

For Pekah the sonne of Remaliah slewe in Iudah sixe score thousand in one day, all valiant men, because they had forsaken the Lord God of their fathers.

7 E Zicri, [uomo] possente di Efraim, uccise Maaseia, figliuolo del re, e Azricam, mastro del palazzo, ed Elcana, la seconda [persona] dopo il re.

And Zichri a mighty man of Ephraim slew Maaseiah the Kings sonne, and Azrikam the gouernour of the house, and Elkanah the second after the King.

8 E i figliuoli d'Israele menarono prigioni dugentomila [persone] de' lor fratelli, tra donne, figliuoli e figliuole; e anche fecero sopra loro una gran preda, la quale conducevano in Samaria.

And the children of Israel tooke prisoners of their brethren, two hudreth thousand of women, sonnes and daughters, and caried away much spoyle of them, and brought the spoyle to Samaria.

9 Or quivi era un profeta del Signore, il cui nome [era] Oded; ed egli uscì incontrò all'esercito, ch'entrava in Samaria; e disse loro: Ecco, il Signore Iddio de' vostri padri, perchè era adirato contro a Giuda, ve li ha dati nelle mani; e voi ne avete uccisi a furore tanti, che [il numero] arriva infino al cielo.

But there was a Prophet of the Lordes, (whose name was Oded) and he went out before the hoste that came to Samaria, and said vnto them, Behold, because the Lord God of your fathers is wroth with Iudah, he hath deliuered them into your hand, and ye haue slaine them in a rage, that reacheth vp to heauen.

10 E pure ancora al presente voi deliberate di sottomettervi per servi, e per serve, i figliuoli di Giuda e di Gerusalemme. Non [è egli vero], che [già] non [v'è] altro in voi, se non colpe contro al Signore Iddio vostro?

And nowe ye purpose to keepe vnder the children of Iudah and Ierusalem, as seruants and handmaides vnto you: but are not you such, that sinnes are with you before the Lord your God?

11 Ora dunque, ascoltatemi, e riconducete i prigioni che avete presi d'infra i vostri fratelli; perciocchè [v'è] ira accesa del Signore contro a voi.

Nowe therefore heare me, and deliuer the captiues againe, which ye haue taken prisoners of your brethren: for the fierce wrath of the Lord is toward you.

12 Allora certi uomini principali de' capi de' figliuoli di Efraim, [cioè: ] Azaria, figliuolo di Iohanan, Berechia, figliuolo di Messillemot, Ezechia, figliuolo di Sallum, ed Amasa, figliuolo di Haldai, si levarono contro a quelli che venivano dalla guerra, e dissero loro:

Wherefore certaine of the chiefe of the children of Ephraim, Azariah the sonne of Iehohanan, Berechiah the sonne of Meshillemoth, and Iehizkiah the sonne of Shallum, and Amasa the sonne of Hadlai, stood vp against them that came from the warre,

13 Voi non menerete qua entro questi prigioni; perciocchè ciò che voi pensate [fare è] per renderci colpevoli appo il Signore, accrescendo il numero de' nostri peccati e delle nostre colpe; conciossiachè noi siamo grandemente colpevoli, e [vi sia] ira accesa contro ad Israele.

And said vnto them, Bring not in the captiues hither: for this shalbe a sinne vpon vs against the Lord: ye entende to adde more to our sinnes and to our trespasse, though our trespasse be great, and the fierce wrath of God is against Israel.

14 Allora gli uomini di guerra rilasciarono i prigioni e la preda, in presenza dei capi e di tutta la raunanza.

So the armie left the captiues and the spoyle before the princes and all the Congregation.

15 E quegli uomini suddetti si levarono, e presero i prigioni, e vestirono delle spoglie tutti [que]' di loro [ch'erano] ignudi; e dopo averli rivestiti e calzati, diedero loro da mangiare e da bere, e li unsero; e ricondussero sopra degli asini quelli d'infra loro che non si potevano reggere; e li menarono in Gerico, città delle palme, appresso i lor fratelli; poi se ne ritornarono in Samaria.

And the men that were named by name, rose vp and tooke the prisoners, and with the spoyle clothed all that were naked among them, and arayed them, and shod them, and gaue them meate, and gaue them drinke, and anoynted them, and caryed all that were feeble of them vpon asses, and brought them to Iericho the citie of Palme trees to their brethren: so they returned to Samaria.

16 In quel tempo il re Achaz mandò ai re degli Assiri per soccorso.

At that time did King Ahaz sende vnto the Kings of Asshur, to helpe him.

17 (Or anche gl'Idumei erano venuti, ed aveano percosso Giuda, e [ne] aveano menati de' prigioni.

(For the Edomites came moreouer, and slew of Iudah, and caryed away captiues.

18 Ed anche i Filistei erano scorsi sopra le città della pianura, e della parte meridionale di Giuda, e aveano preso Bet-semes, ed Aialon, e Ghederot, e Soco, e le terre del suo territorio; e Timna, e le terre del suo territorio; e Ghimzo, e le terre del suo territorio; ed abitavano in esse.

The Philistims also inuaded the cities in the low countrey, and toward the South of Iudah, and tooke Bethshemesh, and Aialon, and Gederoth and Shocho, with the villages thereof, and Timnah, with her villages, and Gimzo, with her villages, and they dwelt there.

19 Perciocchè il Signore avea abbassato Giuda per cagione di Achaz, re d'Israele; perciocchè egli avea cagionato una [gran] licenza in Giuda, ed avea commesso ogni sorte di misfatti contro al Signore.)

For the Lord had humbled Iudah, because of Ahaz King of Israel: for he had brought vengeance vpon Iudah, and had grieuously transgressed against the Lord)

20 E Tillegat-pilneser, re degli Assiri, venne a lui; ma egli lo mise in distretta, e non lo fortificò.

And Tilgath Pilneeser king of Asshur came vnto him, who troubled him and did not strengthen him.

21 Perciocchè Achaz prese una parte [de' tesori] della Casa del Signore, e della casa del re, e de' principali [del popolo]; e [li] diede al re degli Assiri, il qual però non gli diede alcuno aiuto.

For Ahaz tooke a portion out of the house of the Lord and out of the Kings house and of the Princes, and gaue vnto the king of Asshur: yet it helped him not.

22 Ed al tempo ch'egli era distretto, egli continuava vie più a commetter misfatti contro al Signore; tale [era] il re Achaz.

And in ye time of his tribulation did he yet trespasse more against ye Lord, (this is King Ahaz)

23 E sacrificò agl'iddii di Damasco che l'aveano sconfitto, e disse: Poichè gl'iddii dei re di Siria li aiutano, io sacrificherò loro, acciocchè aiutino ancora me. Ma quelli gli furono cagione di far traboccar lui e tutto Israele.

For he sacrificed vnto the gods of Damascus, which plagued him, and he sayd, Because the gods of the Kings of Aram helped them, I wil sacrifice vnto them, and they will helpe me: yet they were his ruine, and of all Israel.

24 Ed Achaz raccolse i vasellamenti della Casa di Dio e [li] spezzò; e serrò le porte della Casa del Signore, e si fece degli altari per tutti i canti di Gerusalemme.

And Ahaz gathered the vessels of ye house of God, and brake the vessels of the house of God, and shut vp the doores of the house of the Lord, and made him altars in euery corner of Ierusalem.

25 E fece degli alti luoghi in ogni città di Giuda, per far profumi ad altri dii; ed irritò il Signore Iddio de' suoi padri.

And in euery citie of Iudah hee made hie places, to burne incense vnto other gods, and prouoked to anger the Lord God of his fathers.

26 Ora, quant'è al rimanente de' fatti di Achaz, e tutti i suoi portamenti, primi ed ultimi, ecco, queste cose [sono] scritte nel libro dei re di Giuda e d'Israele.

Concerning the rest of his actes, and all his wayes first and last, beholde, they are written in the booke of the Kings of Iudah, and Israel.

27 Poi Achaz giacque co' suoi padri, e fu seppellito in Gerusalemme, nella città; ma non fu messo nelle sepolture dei re d'Israele. Ed Ezechia, suo figliuolo, regnò in luogo suo.

And Ahaz slept with his fathers, and they buried him in the citie of Ierusalem, but brought him not vnto the sepulchres of the Kings of Israel: and Hezekiah his sonne reigned in his stead.
