2 Cronache 14

1 ED Abia giacque co' suoi padri, e fu seppellito nella Città di Davide; ed Asa, suo figliuolo, regnò in luogo suo. Al suo tempo il paese ebbe riposo [lo spazio di] dieci anni.

And he lay down Abijah with ancestors his and people buried him in [the] city of David and he became king Asa son his in place of him in days his it was at peace the land ten years.

2 Ed Asa fece ciò che piace ed è grato al Signore Iddio suo.

And he did Asa the good and the right in [the] eyes of Yahweh God his.

3 E tolse via gli altari, e gli alti luoghi degli stranieri, e spezzò le statue, e tagliò i boschi;

And he removed [the] altars of foreignness and the high places and he broke down the sacred pillars and he cut down the Asherah poles.

4 e comandò a Giuda di ricercare il Signore Iddio dei suoi padri, e di mettere ad effetto la sua Legge ed i suoi comandamenti.

And he said to Judah to seek Yahweh [the] God of ancestors their and to observe the law and the commandment.

5 Tolse eziandio via, da tutte le città di Giuda, gli alti luoghi ed i simulacri; e il regno ebbe riposo mentre egli visse.

And he removed from all [the] cities of Judah the high places and the incense altars and it was at peace the kingdom before him.

6 Ed egli edificò delle città di fortezza in Giuda; perciocchè il paese era in riposo; e in quel tempo non [vi fu] alcuna guerra contro a lui; perciocchè il Signore gli avea dato riposo.

And he built cities of fortification in Judah for it was at peace the land and there not with him [was] war in the years these for he had given rest Yahweh to him.

7 Laonde egli disse a Giuda: Edifichiamo queste città, ed intorniamole di mura, e di torri, e di porte, e di sbarre, mentre siamo padroni del paese; perciocchè noi abbiamo ricercato il Signore Iddio nostro; ed avendolo ricercato, egli ci ha dato riposo d'ogn'intorno. Così [le] edificarono, e prosperarono.

And he said to Judah let us build - the cities these and let us surround [them] wall and towers gates and bars still it the land [is] before us for we have sought Yahweh God our we sought [him] and he has given rest to us from round about and they built and they prospered.

8 Or Asa avea un esercito di trecentomila [uomini] di Giuda, che portavano scudo e lancia; e di dugentotrentamila di Beniamino, che portavano scudo e tiravano con l'arco; tutti uomini di valore.

And it belonged to Asa an army bearing body shield[s] and spear[s] from Judah three hundred thousand. And of Benjamin [those who] carry a shield and [those who] bend a bow two hundred and eighty thousand all these [were] mighty [men] of strength.

9 E Zera Etiopo uscì, contro a loro con un esercito di mille migliaia [d'uomini], e di trecento carri; e venne fino in Maresa.

And he came out against them Zerah the Cushite with an army a thousand thousand and chariots three hundred and he came to Mareshah.

10 Ed Asa uscì incontro a lui; ed essi ordinarono la battaglia nella valle di Sefata, presso di Maresa.

And he went out Asa before him and they drew up in formation battle in [the] valley of Zephathah to Mareshah.

11 Allora Asa gridò al Signore Iddio suo, e disse: O Signore, appo te non [vi è alcuna differenza] di aiutare, così chi non ha forze alcune, come chi ne ha di grandi; soccorrici, o Signore Iddio nostro; perciocchè noi ci siamo appoggiati sopra te, e nel tuo Nome siamo venuti contro a questa moltitudine; tu [sei] il Signore Iddio nostro; non [lasciare] che l'uomo prevalga contro a te.

And he called out Asa to Yahweh God his and he said O Yahweh there not [is] with you to help between great and not strength help us O Yahweh God our for on you we depend and in name your we have come on the multitude this O Yahweh [are] God our you may not he retain with you a man.

12 Ed il Signore sconfisse gli Etiopi davanti ad Asa, e davanti a Giuda; e gli Etiopi fuggirono.

And he defeated Yahweh the Cushites before Asa and before Judah and they fled the Cushites.

13 Ed Asa, e la gente ch'[era] con lui, li perseguitarono fino in Gherar; e morirono tanti Etiopi ch'essi non si poterono più ristorare; perciocchè furono rotti dal Signore, e dal suo esercito; e ne furono portate spoglie in grandissima quantità.

And he pursued them Asa and the people which [was] with him to to Gerar and it fell of [the] Cushites to not [belonged] to them preservation for they had been broken before Yahweh and before army his and they carried off booty much very.

14 Percossero anche tutte le città [ch'erano] d'intorno a Gherar; perciocchè lo spavento del Signore era sopra loro; e predarono tutte quelle città; perciocchè vi era dentro una grande preda.

And they struck down all the cities around Gerar for it was [the] dread of Yahweh on them and they plundered all the cities for plunder much it was in them.

15 Percossero ancora le tende delle mandre, e ne menarono pecore, e cammelli, in gran numero. Poi se ne tornarono in Gerusalemme.

And also [the] tents of livestock they struck down and they took captive sheep to abundance and camels and they returned Jerusalem.
