1 Timoteo 1

1 PAOLO, apostolo di Gesù Cristo, per comandamento di Dio, nostro Salvatore; e del Signor Gesù Cristo, nostra speranza;

Pavl an Apostle of Iesvs Christ, by the commandement of God our Sauiour, and of our Lord Iesus Christ our hope,

2 a Timoteo, [mio] vero figliuolo in fede; grazia, misericordia, e pace, da Dio nostro padre, e da Cristo Gesù, nostro Signore.

Vnto Timotheus my naturall sonne in the faith: Grace, mercy, and peace from God our Father, and from Christ Iesus our Lord.

3 SICCOME io ti esortai di rimanere in Efeso, quando io andava in Macedonia, fa' che tu dinunzi ad alcuni che non insegnino dottrina diversa.

As I besought thee to abide still in Ephesus, when I departed into Macedonia, so doe, that thou mayest warne some, that they teach none other doctrine,

4 E che non attendano a favole, ed a genealogie senza fine; le quali producono piuttosto quistioni, che edificazion di Dio, che [è] in fede.

Neither that they giue heede to fables and genealogies which are endles, which breede questions rather then godly edifying which is by fayth.

5 Or il fine del comandamento è carità, di cuor puro, e di buona coscienza, e di fede non finta.

For the end of the commandement is loue out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith vnfained.

6 Dalle quali cose alcuni essendosi sviati, si son rivolti ad un vano parlare;

From the which things some haue erred, and haue turned vnto vaine iangling.

7 volendo esser dottori della legge, non intendendo nè le cose che dicono, nè quelle delle quali affermano.

They would be doctours of the Law, and yet vnderstande not what they speake, neither whereof they affirme.

8 Or noi sappiamo che la legge [è] buona, se alcuno l'usa legittimamente.

And we knowe, that the Law is good, if a man vse it lawfully,

9 Sapendo questo: che la legge non è posta al giusto, ma agl'iniqui, e ribelli, agli empi, e peccatori, agli scellerati, e profani, agli uccisori di padri e madri,

Knowing this, that the Lawe is not giuen vnto a righteous man, but vnto the lawles and disobedient, to the vngodly, and to sinners, to the vnholy, and to the prophane, to murtherers of fathers and mothers, to manslayers,

10 a' micidiali, a' fornicatori, a quelli che usano co' maschi, a' rubatori d'uomini, a' falsari, agli spergiuratori; e se vi è alcun'altra cosa contraria alla sana dottrina;

To whoremongers, to buggerers, to menstealers, to lyers, to the periured, and if there be any other thing, that is contrary to wholesome doctrine,

11 secondo l'evangelo della gloria del beato Iddio, il qual m'è stato fidato.

Which is according to the glorious Gospel of the blessed God, which is committed vnto me.

12 E rendo grazie a Cristo nostro Signore, il qual mi fortifica, ch'egli mi ha reputato fedele, ponendo al ministerio [me],

Therefore I thanke him, which hath made me strong, that is, Christ Iesus our Lord: for he counted me faithfull, and put me in his seruice:

13 il quale innanzi era bestemmiatore, e persecutore, ed ingiurioso; ma misericordia mi è stata fatta, perciocchè io [lo] feci ignorantemente, non avendo la fede.

When before I was a blasphemer, and a persecuter, and an oppresser: but I was receiued to mercie: for I did it ignorantly through vnbeliefe.

14 Ma la grazia del Signor nostro è soprabbondata, con fede e carità, che [è] in Cristo Gesù.

But the grace of our Lord was exceeding abundant with faith and loue, which is in Christ Iesus.

15 Certa [è] questa parola, e degna d'essere accettata per ogni maniera: che Cristo Gesù è venuto nel mondo, per salvare i peccatori, de' quali io sono il primo.

This is a true saying, and by all meanes worthy to be receiued, that Christ Iesus came into the worlde to saue sinners, of whom I am chiefe.

16 Ma, per questo mi è stata fatta misericordia, acciocchè Gesù Cristo mostrasse in me primieramente tutta la [sua] clemenza, per [essere] esempio a coloro che per l'avvenire crederebbero in lui a vita eterna. (aiōnios g166)

Notwithstanding, for this cause was I receiued to mercie, that Iesus Christ should first shewe on me all long suffering vnto the ensample of them, which shall in time to come beleeue in him vnto eternall life. (aiōnios g166)

17 Or al Re de' secoli, immortale, invisibile, a Dio solo savio, [sia] onore, [e] gloria ne' secoli de' secoli. Amen. (aiōn g165)

Nowe vnto the King euerlasting, immortall, inuisible, vnto God onely wise, be honour and glorie, for euer, and euer, Amen. (aiōn g165)

18 Io ti raccomando questo comandamento, o figliuol Timoteo: che secondo le profezie che innanzi sono state di te, tu guerreggi, in [virtù d]'esse, la buona guerra.

This commandement commit I vnto thee, sonne Timotheus, according to the prophecies, which went before vpon thee, that thou by them shouldest fight a good fight,

19 Avendo fede, e buona coscienza; la quale avendo alcuni gettata via, hanno fatto naufragio intorno alla fede.

Hauing faith and a good conscience, which some haue put away, and as concerning faith, haue made shipwracke.

20 De' quali è Imeneo, ed Alessandro, i quali io ho dati in man di Satana, acciocchè sieno castigati, ed ammaestrati a non bestemmiare.

Of whom is Hymeneus, and Alexander, whom I haue deliuered vnto Satan, that they might learne not to blaspheme.
