1 Tessalonicesi 2
1 PERCIOCCHÈ voi stessi sapete, fratelli, che la nostra entrata fra voi non è stata vana.
For, yourselves, know, brethren, our entrance which was unto you—that it hath not proved void;
2 Anzi, benchè prima avessimo, come sapete, patito, e fossimo stati ingiuriati in Filippi, pur ci siamo francamente inanimati nell'Iddio nostro, da annunziarvi l'evangelo di Dio, con molto combattimento.
But, though we had previously suffered, and been insulted, even as ye know, in Philippi, we waxed bold in our God to speak unto you the glad-message of God with much conflict.
3 Poichè la nostra esortazione non [procede] da inganno, nè da impurità; e non [è] con frode.
For, our exhortation, is not of error, nor of uncleanness, nor in guile,
4 Anzi, come siamo stati approvati da Dio, per fidarci l'Evangelo; così parliamo, non come per piacere agli uomini, ma a Dio che prova i nostri cuori.
But, even as we have been approved by God, to be entrusted with the glad-message, so, we speak, —not as, unto men, giving pleasure, but unto God—who proveth our hearts.
5 Perciocchè ancora noi non abbiamo giammai usato parlar lusinghevole, come voi sapete, nè occasione d'avarizia; Iddio [ne è] testimonio.
For neither at any time were we found, using words of flattery, —even as ye know, nor a pretext for greed—God, is witness!
6 Nè [abbiamo] cercato gloria dagli uomini, nè da voi, nè da altri, benchè potessimo usar gravità, come apostoli di Cristo.
Nor, of men, seeking glory—either from you, or from others, though we could have assumed, dignity, as Apostles of Christ;
7 Ma siamo stati mansueti fra voi, come una balia, che alleva teneramente i suoi propri figliuoli.
But we became gentle in your midst, —as though, a nursing mother, had been cherishing her own children:
8 In questa maniera, avendovi sommamente cari, eravamo mossi di buona volontà a comunicarvi, non sol l'evangelo di Dio, ma ancora le nostre proprie anime; perchè ci eravate diletti.
Thus, yearning after you, we could have been well-pleased to impart unto you—not only the glad-message of God, but, our own lives also, —because, very dear to us, had ye become.
9 Perciocchè, fratelli, voi vi ricordate della nostra fatica, e travaglio; poichè, lavorando giorno e notte, per non gravare alcun di voi, abbiam predicato in mezzo a voi l'Evangelo di Dio.
For ye remember, brethren, our toil and hardship: night and day, working, so as not to be a burden unto any of you, we proclaimed unto you the glad-message of God,
10 Voi [siete] testimoni, e Dio ancora, come ci siam portati santamente, e giustamente, e senza biasimo, inverso voi che credete.
Ye, are witnesses—God also, how kindly and righteously and blamelessly, unto you who were believing, we were found to behave;
11 Siccome voi sapete che, come un padre i suoi figliuoli, noi abbiamo esortato, e consolato ciascun di voi;
Even as ye know how, unto each one of you, we were as a father unto his own children, consoling you, and soothing, and calling to witness, —
12 e protestato che camminiate condegnamente a Dio, che vi chiama al suo regno e gloria.
To the end ye might be walking in a manner worthy of God, who is calling you unto his own kingdom and glory,
13 Perciò ancora, noi non restiamo di render grazie a Dio, di ciò che, avendo ricevuta da noi la parola della predicazione di Dio, voi l'avete raccolta, non [come] parola d'uomini; ma, siccome è veramente, [come] parola di Dio, la quale ancora opera efficacemente in voi che credete.
And, for this cause, we, are also giving thanks unto God unceasingly, that, when ye received a spoken word from us—which was God’s, ye welcomed it—not as a human word, but, even as it truly is, a divine word, —which is also inwardly working itself in you who believe.
14 Poichè voi, fratelli, siete divenuti imitatori delle chiese di Dio, che son nella Giudea, in Cristo Gesù; perciocchè ancora voi avete sofferte da quei della vostra nazione le medesime cose ch'essi da' Giudei.
For, ye, became, imitators, brethren, of the assemblies of God which are in Judaea, in Christ Jesus, in that, the same things, ye, also suffered by your own fellow-countrymen, even as, they, also by the Jews:
15 I quali ed hanno ucciso il Signor Gesù, e i lor propri profeti; e ci hanno scacciati, e non piacciono a Dio, e [son] contrari a tutti gli uomini;
Who have both slain the, Lord, Jesus—and the prophets, and, us, have persecuted, and, unto God, are displeasing, and, unto all men, are contrary, —
16 divietandoci di parlare a' Gentili, acciocchè sieno salvati; affin di colmar sempre [la misura de] 'lor peccati; or l'ira è venuta sopra loro fino all'estremo.
Hindering us from speaking, unto the nations, that they might be saved, to the filling up of their own sins, continually; but anger hath overtaken them at length.
17 OR noi, fratelli, orbati di voi per un momento di tempo, di faccia, e non di cuore, ci siam vie più studiati di veder la vostra faccia, con molto desiderio.
Now, we, brethren, having been bereaved away from you, for the season of an hour, —in presence, not in heart, gave more abundant diligence, your face, to behold, with much longing;
18 Perciò, siam voluti, io Paolo almeno, una e due volte, venire a voi; ma Satana ci ha impediti.
Wherefore, we desired to come unto you—even, I, Paul, both once and again, —and, Satan, thwarted us.
19 Perciocchè, quale [è] la nostra speranza, o allegrezza, o corona di gloria? non [siete dessa] ancora voi, nel cospetto del Signor nostro Gesù Cristo, nel suo avvenimento?
For what shall be our hope, or joy, or crown of boasting? Shall not even, ye, before our Lord Jesus, in his Presence?
20 Poichè voi siete la nostra gloria ed allegrezza.
Ye, in fact, are our glory and joy.
