1 Samuele 8

1 ORA, quando Samuele fu divenuto vecchio, costituì i suoi figliuoli Giudici ad Israele.

When Samuel was nowe become olde, he made his sonnes Iudges ouer Israel.

2 E il nome del suo figliuolo primogenito era Ioel, e il nome del suo secondo [era] Abia; i quali tenevano ragione in Beerseba.

(And the name of his eldest sonne was Ioel, and the name of the second Abiah) euen Iudges in Beer-sheba.

3 Ma i suoi figliuoli non camminarono nelle vie di esso, anzi si rivolsero dietro all'avarizia, e prendevano presenti, e pervertivano la ragione.

And his sonnes walked not in his wayes, but turned aside after lucre, and tooke rewards, and peruerted the iudgement.

4 Laonde tutti gli Anziani d'Israele si adunarono insieme, e vennero a Samuele in Rama, e gli dissero:

Wherefore all the Elders of Israel gathered them together, and came to Samuel vnto Ramah,

5 Ecco, tu sei divenuto vecchio, e i tuoi figliuoli non camminano nelle tue vie; ora [dunque] costituisci sopra noi un re che ci giudichi, come [hanno] tutte le [altre] nazioni.

And said vnto him, Beholde, thou art olde, and thy sonnes walke not in thy wayes: make vs nowe a King to iudge vs like all nations.

6 E la cosa dispiacque a Samuele, quando dissero: Dacci un re che ci giudichi. Ed egli fece orazione al Signore.

But the thing displeased Samuel, when they said, Giue vs a King to iudge vs: and Samuel prayed vnto the Lord.

7 E il Signore disse a Samuele: Acconsenti alla voce del popolo, in tutto ciò ch'egli ti dirà; perciocchè essi non hanno sdegnato te, anzi hanno sdegnato me, acciocchè io non regni sopra loro.

And the Lord said vnto Samuel, Heare the voyce of the people in all that they shall say vnto thee: for they haue not cast thee away, but they haue cast me away, that I should not reigne ouer the.

8 Secondo tutte le opere che hanno fatte dal dì che io li trassi fuori di Egitto, fino ad oggi, per le quali mi hanno abbandonato, e hanno servito ad altri dii; così fanno ancora a te.

As they haue euer done since I brought them out of Egypt euen vnto this day, (and haue forsaken me, and serued other gods) euen so doe they vnto thee.

9 Ora dunque acconsenti alla voce loro; ma tuttavia del tutto protesta, e dichiara loro la ragione del re, che regnerà sopra loro.

Nowe therefore hearken vnto their voyce: howbeit yet testifie vnto them, and shewe them the maner of ye King that shall reigne ouer them.

10 E Samuele rapportò tutte le parole del Signore al popolo, che gli chiedeva un re.

So Samuel told all the wordes of the Lord vnto the people that asked a King of him.

11 E disse: Questa sarà la ragione del re che regnerà sopra voi: Egli piglierà i vostri figliuoli, e li metterà sopra i suoi carri, e fra i suoi cavalieri, ed essi correranno davanti al suo carro.

And he saide, This shall be the maner of the King that shall reigne ouer you: he will take your sonnes, and appoint them to his charets, and to be his horsemen, and some shall runne before his charet.

12 [Li prenderà eziandio] per constituirseli capitani di migliaia, e capitani di cinquantine; e per arare i suoi campi, e per far la sua ricolta, e per fabbricar le sue armi, e gli arnesi de' suoi carri.

Also he will make them his captaines ouer thousands, and captaines ouer fifties, and to eare his ground, and to reape his haruest, and to make instruments of warre, and the thinges that serue for his charets.

13 Egli prenderà eziandio le vostre figliuole per profumiere, e cuoche, e panattiere.

He will also take your daughters and make them apoticaries, and cookes, and bakers.

14 Piglierà ancora i vostri campi, e le vostre vigne, e i vostri migliori uliveti, e [li] donerà a' suoi servitori.

And he will take your fieldes, and your vineyardes, and your best Oliue trees, and giue them to his seruants.

15 Egli torrà eziandio le decime delle vostre semente, e delle vostre vigne, e le donerà a' suoi ufficiali, e a' suoi servitori.

And he will take the tenth of your seede, and of your vineyards, and giue it to his Eunuches, and to his seruants.

16 Piglierà eziandio i vostri servi, e le vostre serve, e il fior de' vostri giovani, e i vostri asini, e li adopererà al suo lavoro.

And he will take your men seruants, and your maide seruants, and the chiefe of your yong men, and your asses, and put them to his worke.

17 Egli prenderà la decima delle vostre gregge; e voi gli sarete servi.

He will take the tenth of your sheepe, and ye shall be his seruants.

18 E in quel giorno voi griderete per cagione del vostro re, che vi avrete eletto; ma il Signore allora non vi esaudirà.

And ye shall crie out at that day, because of your King, whom ye haue chosen you, and the Lord will not heare you at that day.

19 Ma il popolo ricusò di ascoltar le parole di Samuele, e disse: No; anzi vi sarà un re sopra noi.

But the people would not heare the voyce of Samuel, but did say, Nay, but there shall be a King ouer vs.

20 E noi ancora saremo come tutte le [altre] genti; e il nostro re ci giudicherà, e uscirà davanti a noi, e condurrà le nostre guerre.

And we also will be like all other nations, and our King shall iudge vs, and goe out before vs, and fight our battels.

21 Samuele adunque, avendo udite tutte le parole del popolo, le rapportò agli orecchi del Signore.

Therefore when Samuel heard all ye wordes of ye people, he rehearsed the in ye eares of ye Lord.

22 E il Signore disse a Samuele: Acconsenti alla voce loro, e costituisci loro un re. E Samuele disse agl'Israeliti: Andatevene ciascuno alla sua città.

And the Lord saide to Samuel, Hearken vnto their voyce, and make them a King. And Samuel said vnto the men of Israel, Goe euery man vnto his citie.
