1 Al maestro del coro. Su strumenti a corda con cetre. Salmo. Di Asaf. Canto. Dio è conosciuto in Giuda, in Israele è grande il suo nome.
For the chief musician, on stringed instruments. A psalm of Asaph, a song. God has made himself known in Judah; his name is great in Israel.
2 E' in Gerusalemme la sua dimora, la sua abitazione, in Sion.
His tent is in Salem; his dwelling place is in Zion.
3 Qui spezzò le saette dell'arco, lo scudo, la spada, la guerra.
There he broke the arrows of the bow, the shield, the sword, and the other weapons of war. (Selah)
4 Splendido tu sei, o Potente, sui monti della preda;
You shine brightly and reveal your glory, as you descend from the mountains, where you killed your victims.
5 furono spogliati i valorosi, furono colti dal sonno, nessun prode ritrovava la sua mano.
The bravehearted were plundered; they fell asleep. All the warriors were helpless.
6 Dio di Giacobbe, alla tua minaccia, si arrestarono carri e cavalli.
At your rebuke, God of Jacob, both rider and horse fell asleep.
7 Tu sei terribile; chi ti resiste quando si scatena la tua ira?
You, yes you, are to be feared; who can stand in your sight when you are angry?
8 Dal cielo fai udire la sentenza: sbigottita la terra tace
From heaven you made your judgment heard; the earth was afraid and silent
9 quando Dio si alza per giudicare, per salvare tutti gli umili della terra.
when you, God, arose to execute judgment and to save all the oppressed of the earth. (Selah)
10 L'uomo colpito dal tuo furore ti dà gloria, gli scampati dall'ira ti fanno festa.
Surely your angry judgment against humanity will bring you praise; you gird yourself with what is left of your anger.
11 Fate voti al Signore vostro Dio e adempiteli, quanti lo circondano portino doni al Terribile,
Make vows to Yahweh your God and keep them. May all who surround him bring gifts to him who is to be feared.

He cuts off the spirit of the princes; he is feared by the kings of the earth.
