1 Al maestro del coro. Su «Non distruggere». Di Davide. Miktam. Quando fuggì da Saul nella caverna. Pietà di me, pietà di me, o Dio, in te mi rifugio; mi rifugio all'ombra delle tue ali finché sia passato il pericolo.
For the Chief Musician. To the tune of “Do Not Destroy.” A poem by David, when he fled from Saul, in the cave. Be merciful to me, God, be merciful to me, for my soul takes refuge in you. Yes, in the shadow of your wings, I will take refuge, until disaster has passed.
2 Invocherò Dio, l'Altissimo, Dio che mi fa il bene.
I cry out to God Most High, to God who accomplishes my requests for me.
3 Mandi dal cielo a salvarmi dalla mano dei miei persecutori, Dio mandi la sua fedeltà e la sua grazia.
He will send from heaven, and save me, he rebukes the one who is pursuing me. (Selah) God will send out his loving kindness and his truth.
4 Io sono come in mezzo a leoni, che divorano gli uomini; i loro denti sono lance e frecce, la loro lingua spada affilata.
My soul is amongst lions. I lie amongst those who are set on fire, even the sons of men, whose teeth are spears and arrows, and their tongue a sharp sword.
5 Innàlzati sopra il cielo, o Dio, su tutta la terra la tua gloria.
Be exalted, God, above the heavens! Let your glory be above all the earth!
6 Hanno teso una rete ai miei piedi, mi hanno piegato, hanno scavato davanti a me una fossa e vi sono caduti.
They have prepared a net for my steps. My soul is bowed down. They dig a pit before me. They fall into the middle of it themselves. (Selah)
7 Saldo è il mio cuore, o Dio, saldo è il mio cuore.
My heart is steadfast, God. My heart is steadfast. I will sing, yes, I will sing praises.
8 Voglio cantare, a te voglio inneggiare: svègliati, mio cuore, svègliati arpa, cetra, voglio svegliare l'aurora.
Wake up, my glory! Wake up, lute and harp! I will wake up the dawn.
9 Ti loderò tra i popoli, Signore, a te canterò inni tra le genti.
I will give thanks to you, Lord, amongst the peoples. I will sing praises to you amongst the nations.
10 perché la tua bontà è grande fino ai cieli, e la tua fedeltà fino alle nubi.
For your great loving kindness reaches to the heavens, and your truth to the skies.
11 Innàlzati sopra il cielo, o Dio, su tutta la terra la tua gloria.
Be exalted, God, above the heavens. Let your glory be over all the earth.
