Salmi 48

1 Cantico. Salmo. Dei figli di Core. Grande è il Signore e degno di ogni lode nella città del nostro Dio.

A Song. A Psalm by the sons of Korah. Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised, in the city of our God, in his holy mountain.

2 Il suo monte santo, altura stupenda, è la gioia di tutta la terra. Il monte Sion, dimora divina, è la città del grande Sovrano.

Beautiful in elevation, the joy of the whole earth, is Mount Zion, on the north sides, the city of the great King.

3 Dio nei suoi baluardi è apparso fortezza inespugnabile.

God has shown himself in her citadels as a refuge.

4 Ecco, i re si sono alleati, sono avanzati insieme.

For, behold, the kings assembled themselves, they passed by together.

5 Essi hanno visto: attoniti e presi dal panico, sono fuggiti.

They saw it, then they were amazed. They were dismayed. They hurried away.

6 Là sgomento li ha colti, doglie come di partoriente,

Trembling took hold of them there, pain, as of a woman in travail.

7 simile al vento orientale che squarcia le navi di Tarsis.

With the east wind, you break the ships of Tarshish.

8 Come avevamo udito, così abbiamo visto nella città del Signore degli eserciti, nella città del nostro Dio; Dio l'ha fondata per sempre.

As we have heard, so we have seen, in the city of the LORD of Hosts, in the city of our God. God will establish it forever. (Selah)

9 Ricordiamo, Dio, la tua misericordia dentro il tuo tempio.

We have thought about your loving kindness, God, in the middle of your temple.

10 Come il tuo nome, o Dio, così la tua lode si estende sino ai confini della terra; è piena di giustizia la tua destra.

As is your name, God, so is your praise to the ends of the earth. Your right hand is full of righteousness.

11 Gioisca il monte di Sion, esultino le città di Giuda a motivo dei tuoi giudizi.

Let Mount Zion be glad! Let the daughters of Judah rejoice because of your judgements.

12 Circondate Sion, giratele intorno, contate le sue torri.

Walk about Zion, and go around her. Number its towers.

13 Osservate i suoi baluardi, passate in rassegna le sue fortezze, per narrare alla generazione futura:

Notice her bulwarks. Consider her palaces, that you may tell it to the next generation.

14 Questo è il Signore, nostro Dio in eterno, sempre: egli è colui che ci guida.

For this God is our God forever and ever. He will be our guide even to death.
