Salmi 132

1 Ricordati, Signore, di Davide, di tutte le sue prove, Canto delle ascensioni.

A Song of the Ascents. Remember, Jehovah, for David, all his afflictions.

2 quando giurò al Signore, al Potente di Giacobbe fece voto:

Who hath sworn to Jehovah. He hath vowed to the Mighty One of Jacob:

3 «Non entrerò sotto il tetto della mia casa, non mi stenderò sul mio giaciglio,

'If I enter into the tent of my house, If I go up on the couch of my bed,

4 non concederò sonno ai miei occhi né riposo alle mie palpebre,

If I give sleep to mine eyes, To mine eyelids — slumber,

5 finché non trovi una sede per il Signore, una dimora per il Potente di Giacobbe».

Till I do find a place for Jehovah, Tabernacles for the Mighty One of Jacob.

6 Ecco, abbiamo saputo che era in Efrata, l'abbiamo trovata nei campi di Iàar.

'Lo, we have heard it in Ephratah, We have found it in the fields of the forest.

7 Entriamo nella sua dimora, prostriamoci allo sgabello dei suoi piedi.

We come in to His tabernacles, We bow ourselves at His footstool.

8 Alzati, Signore, verso il luogo del tuo riposo, tu e l'arca della tua potenza.

Arise, O Jehovah, to Thy rest, Thou, and the ark of Thy strength,

9 I tuoi sacerdoti si vestano di giustizia, i tuoi fedeli cantino di gioia.

Thy priests do put on righteousness, And Thy pious ones cry aloud.

10 Per amore di Davide tuo servo non respingere il volto del tuo consacrato.

For the sake of David Thy servant, Turn not back the face of Thine anointed.

11 Il Signore ha giurato a Davide e non ritratterà la sua parola: «Il frutto delle tue viscere io metterò sul tuo trono!

Jehovah hath sworn truth to David, He turneth not back from it: Of the fruit of thy body, I set on the throne for thee.

12 Se i tuoi figli custodiranno la mia alleanza e i precetti che insegnerò ad essi, anche i loro figli per sempre sederanno sul tuo trono».

If thy sons keep My covenant, And My testimonies that I teach them, Their sons also for ever and ever, Do sit on the throne for thee.

13 Il Signore ha scelto Sion, l'ha voluta per sua dimora:

For Jehovah hath fixed on Zion, He hath desired [it] for a seat to Himself,

14 «Questo è il mio riposo per sempre; qui abiterò, perché l'ho desiderato.

This [is] My rest for ever and ever, Here do I sit, for I have desired it.

15 Benedirò tutti i suoi raccolti, sazierò di pane i suoi poveri.

Her provision I greatly bless, Her needy ones I satisfy [with] bread,

16 Rivestirò di salvezza i suoi sacerdoti, esulteranno di gioia i suoi fedeli.

And her priests I clothe [with] salvation, And her pious ones do sing aloud.

17 Là farò germogliare la potenza di Davide, preparerò una lampada al mio consacrato.

There I cause to spring up a horn for David, I have arranged a lamp for Mine anointed.

18 Coprirò di vergogna i suoi nemici, ma su di lui splenderà la corona».

His enemies I do clothe [with] shame, And upon him doth his crown flourish!
