Proverbi 3
1 Figlio mio, non dimenticare il mio insegnamento e il tuo cuore custodisca i miei precetti,
My son, do not forget my teaching; but let your heart keep my commandments:
2 perché lunghi giorni e anni di vita e pace ti porteranno.
for length of days, and years of life, and peace, will they add to you.
3 Bontà e fedeltà non ti abbandonino; lègale intorno al tuo collo, scrivile sulla tavola del tuo cuore,
Do not let kindness and truth forsake you. Bind them around your neck. Write them on the tablet of your heart.
4 e otterrai favore e buon successo agli occhi di Dio e degli uomini.
So you will find favor, and good understanding in the sight of God and man.
5 Confida nel Signore con tutto il cuore e non appoggiarti sulla tua intelligenza;
Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.
6 in tutti i tuoi passi pensa a lui ed egli appianerà i tuoi sentieri.
In all your ways remember him, and he will make your paths straight.
7 Non credere di essere saggio, temi il Signore e stà lontano dal male.
Do not be wise in your own eyes. Fear the LORD, and depart from evil.
8 Salute sarà per il tuo corpo e un refrigerio per le tue ossa.
It will be health to your body, and nourishment to your bones.
9 Onora il Signore con i tuoi averi e con le primizie di tutti i tuoi raccolti;
Honor the LORD with your substance, with the first fruits of all your increase:
10 i tuoi granai si riempiranno di grano e i tuoi tini traboccheranno di mosto.
so your storehouses will be filled with plenty, and your vats will overflow with new wine.
11 Figlio mio, non disprezzare l'istruzione del Signore e non aver a noia la sua esortazione,
My son, do not despise the discipline of the LORD, nor resent his correction.
12 perché il Signore corregge chi ama, come un padre il figlio prediletto.
For whom the LORD loves he disciplines, and punishes every son he accepts.
13 Beato l'uomo che ha trovato la sapienza e il mortale che ha acquistato la prudenza,
Blessed is the man who finds wisdom, the man who gets understanding.
14 perché il suo possesso è preferibile a quello dell'argento e il suo provento a quello dell'oro.
For her good profit is better than getting silver, and her return is better than fine gold.
15 Essa è più preziosa delle perle e neppure l'oggetto più caro la uguaglia.
She is more precious than rubies. None of the things you can desire are to be compared to her.
16 Lunghi giorni sono nella sua destra e nella sua sinistra ricchezza e onore;
Length of days is in her right hand. In her left hand are riches and honor.
17 le sue vie sono vie deliziose e tutti i suoi sentieri conducono al benessere.
Her ways are ways of pleasantness. All her paths are peace.
18 E' un albero di vita per chi ad essa s'attiene e chi ad essa si stringe è beato.
She is a tree of life to those who lay hold of her, and those who hold on to her are blessed
19 Il Signore ha fondato la terra con la sapienza, ha consolidato i cieli con intelligenza;
By wisdom the LORD founded the earth. By understanding, he established the heavens.
20 dalla sua scienza sono stati aperti gli abissi e le nubi stillano rugiada.
By his knowledge, the depths were broken up, and the skies drop down the dew.
21 Figlio mio, conserva il consiglio e la riflessione, né si allontanino mai dai tuoi occhi:
My son, let them not depart from your eyes. Keep sound wisdom and discretion:
22 saranno vita per te e grazia per il tuo collo.
so they will be life to your soul, and grace for your neck.
23 Allora camminerai sicuro per la tua strada e il tuo piede non inciamperà.
Then you shall walk in your way securely, and your foot won't stumble.
24 Se ti coricherai, non avrai da temere; se ti coricherai, il tuo sonno sarà dolce.
When you lie down, you will not be afraid; you will lie down, and your sleep will be sweet.
25 Non temerai per uno spavento improvviso, né per la rovina degli empi quando verrà,
Do not be afraid of sudden fear, or of the storm of the wicked when it comes:
26 perché il Signore sarà la tua sicurezza, preserverà il tuo piede dal laccio.
for the LORD will be your confidence, and will keep your foot from being taken.
27 Non negare un beneficio a chi ne ha bisogno, se è in tuo potere il farlo.
Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in the power of your hand to do it.
28 Non dire al tuo prossimo: «Và, ripassa, te lo darò domani», se tu hai ciò che ti chiede.
Do not say to your neighbor, "Go, and come again; tomorrow I will give it to you," when you have it by you.
29 Non tramare il male contro il tuo prossimo mentre egli dimora fiducioso presso di te.
Do not devise evil against your neighbor, seeing he dwells securely by you.
30 Non litigare senza motivo con nessuno, se non ti ha fatto nulla di male.
Do not strive with a man without cause, if he has done you no harm.
31 Non invidiare l'uomo violento e non imitare affatto la sua condotta,
Do not envy the man of violence. Choose none of his ways.
32 perché il Signore ha in abominio il malvagio, mentre la sua amicizia è per i giusti.
For the perverse is an abomination to the LORD, but his friendship is with the upright.
33 La maledizione del Signore è sulla casa del malvagio, mentre egli benedice la dimora dei giusti.
The LORD's curse is in the house of the wicked, but he blesses the habitation of the righteous.
34 Dei beffardi egli si fa beffe e agli umili concede la grazia.
Surely he is scornful to scoffers, but he gives grace to the humble.
35 I saggi possiederanno onore ma gli stolti riceveranno ignominia.
The wise will inherit glory, but shame will be the promotion of fools.
