Proverbi 27
1 Non ti vantare del domani, perché non sai neppure che cosa genera l'oggi.
Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring.
2 Ti lodi un altro e non la tua bocca, un estraneo e non le tue labbra.
Let someone else praise you and not your own mouth; a stranger and not your own lips.
3 La pietra è greve, la sabbia è pesante, ma più dell'una e dell'altra lo è il fastidio dello stolto.
Consider the heaviness of a stone and the weight of sand— the provocation of a fool is heavier than both.
4 La collera è crudele, l'ira è impetuosa; ma chi può resistere alla gelosia?
There is the cruelty of rage and the flood of anger, but who is able to stand before jealousy?
5 Meglio un rimprovero aperto che un amore celato.
Better is an open rebuke than hidden love.
6 Leali sono le ferite di un amico, fallaci i baci di un nemico.
Faithful are the wounds caused by a friend, but an enemy may kiss you profusely.
7 Gola sazia disprezza il miele; per chi ha fame anche l'amaro è dolce.
A person who has eaten to the full rejects even a honeycomb, but to the hungry person, every bitter thing is sweet.
8 Come un uccello che vola lontano dal nido così è l'uomo che va errando lontano dalla dimora.
Like a bird that wanders from its nest is a man who strays from where he lives.
9 Il profumo e l'incenso allietano il cuore, la dolcezza di un amico rassicura l'anima.
Perfume and incense make the heart rejoice, but the sweetness of a friend comes from his sincere counsel.
10 Non abbandonare il tuo amico né quello di tuo padre, non entrare nella casa di tuo fratello nel giorno della tua disgrazia. Meglio un amico vicino che un fratello lontano.
Do not forsake your friend and your friend's father, and do not go to your brother's house on the day of your calamity. Better is a neighbor who is nearby than a brother who is far away.
11 Sii saggio, figlio mio, e allieterai il mio cuore e avrò di che rispondere a colui che mi insulta.
Be wise, my son, and make my heart rejoice; then I will give back an answer to the one who mocks me.
12 L'accorto vede il pericolo e si nasconde, gli inesperti vanno avanti e la pagano.
A prudent man sees trouble and hides himself, but the naive people go on and suffer because of it.
13 Prendigli il vestito perché si è fatto garante per uno straniero e tienilo in pegno per gli sconosciuti.
Take a garment of one who has put up security for a stranger, and hold it in pledge when he puts up security for an immoral woman.
14 Benedire il prossimo di buon mattino ad alta voce gli sarà imputato come una maledizione.
Whoever gives his neighbor a blessing with a loud voice early in the morning, that blessing will be considered to be a curse!
15 Il gocciolar continuo in tempo di pioggia e una moglie litigiosa, si rassomigliano:
A quarreling wife is like the constant dripping on a rainy day;
16 chi la vuol trattenere, trattiene il vento e raccoglie l'olio con la mano destra.
restraining her is like restraining the wind, or trying to catch oil in your right hand.
17 Il ferro si aguzza con il ferro e l'uomo aguzza l'ingegno del suo compagno.
Iron sharpens iron; in the same way, a man sharpens his friend.
18 Il guardiano di un fico ne mangia i frutti, chi ha cura del suo padrone ne riceverà onori.
The one who tends a fig tree will eat its fruit, and the one who protects his master will be honored.
19 Come un volto differisce da un altro, così i cuori degli uomini differiscono fra di loro.
Just as water reflects a person's face, so a person's heart reflects the person.
20 Come gli inferi e l'abisso non si saziano mai, così non si saziano mai gli occhi dell'uomo. (Sheol h7585)
Just as Sheol and Abaddon are never satisfied, so a man's eyes are never satisfied. (Sheol h7585)
21 Come il crogiuolo è per l'argento e il fornello per l'oro, così l'uomo rispetto alla bocca di chi lo loda.
A crucible is for silver and a furnace is for gold; and a person is tested when he is praised.
22 Anche se tu pestassi lo stolto nel mortaio tra i grani con il pestello, non scuoteresti da lui la sua stoltezza.
Even if you crush a fool with the pestle—along with the grain— yet his foolishness will not leave him.
23 Preòccupati del tuo gregge, abbi cura delle tue mandrie,
Be sure you know the condition of your flocks and be concerned about your herds,
24 perché non sono perenni le ricchezze, né un tesoro si trasmette di generazione in generazione.
for wealth is not forever. Does a crown endure for all generations?
25 Si toglie il fieno, apparisce l'erba nuova e si raccolgono i foraggi dei monti;
You should know when the hay is gone and the new growth appears, and the time when the grass from the hills is gathered in.
26 gli agnelli ti danno le vesti e i capretti il prezzo per comprare un campo,
Those lambs will provide your clothing and the goats will provide the price of the field.
27 le capre latte abbondante per il cibo e per vitto della tua famiglia. e per mantenere le tue schiave.
There will be goats' milk for your food—the food for your household— and nourishment for your servant girls.
