Geremia 45

1 Questa è la parola che il profeta Geremia comunicò a Baruc figlio di Neria, quando egli scriveva queste parole in un libro sotto la dettatura di Geremia nel quarto anno di Ioiakìm figlio di Giosia, re di Giuda:

This is the word that Jeremiah the prophet told Baruch son of Neriah. This happened when he wrote in a scroll these words at Jeremiah's dictation—this was in the fourth year of Jehoiakim son of Josiah, king of Judah, and he said,

2 «Dice il Signore, Dio di Israele, su di te, Baruc:

“Yahweh, God of Israel, says this to you, Baruch:

3 Tu hai detto: Guai a me poiché il Signore aggiunge tristezza al mio dolore. Io sono stanco dei miei gemiti e non trovo pace.

You have said, 'Woe is me, for Yahweh has added agony to my pain. My groaning has wearied me; I find no rest.'

4 Dice il Signore: Ecco io demolisco ciò che ho edificato e sradico ciò che ho piantato; così per tutta la terra.

This is what you must say to him: 'Yahweh says this: See, what I built, I am now tearing down. What I planted, I am now pulling up—I will do this throughout all the earth.

5 E tu vai cercando grandi cose per te? Non cercarle, poiché io manderò la sventura su ogni uomo. Oracolo del Signore. A te farò dono della vita come bottino, in tutti i luoghi dove tu andrai».

But are you hoping for great things for yourself? Do not hope for that. For see, disaster is coming on all humanity—this is Yahweh's declaration—but I am giving you your life as your plunder everywhere you will go.'”
