Osea 5

1 Ascoltate questo, o sacerdoti, state attenti, gente d'Israele, o casa del re, porgete l'orecchio, poichè contro di voi si fa il giudizio. Voi foste infatti un laccio in Mizpà, una rete tesa sul Tabor

Hear this, O ye priests, and hearken, O house of Israel, and give ear, O house of the king, for to you pertains the judgment. For ye have been a snare at Mizpah, and a net spread upon Tabor.

2 e una fossa profonda a Sittìm; ma io sarò una frusta per tutti costoro.

And the revolters have gone deep in making slaughter, but I am a rebuker of them all.

3 Io conosco Efraim e non mi è ignoto Israele. Ti sei prostituito, Efraim! Si è contaminato Israele.

I know Ephraim, and Israel is not hid from me. For now, O Ephraim, thou have played the harlot; Israel is defiled.

4 Non dispongono le loro opere per far ritorno al loro Dio, poichè uno spirito di prostituzione è fra loro e non conoscono il Signore.

Their doings will not allow them to turn to their God, for the spirit of whoredom is within them, and they do not know Jehovah.

5 L'arroganza d'Israele testimonia contro di lui, Israele ed Efraim cadranno per le loro colpe e Giuda soccomberà con loro.

And the pride of Israel testifies to his face. Therefore Israel and Ephraim shall stumble in their iniquity. Judah also shall stumble with them.

6 Con i loro greggi e i loro armenti andranno in cerca del Signore, ma non lo troveranno: egli si è allontanato da loro.

They shall go with their flocks and with their herds to seek Jehovah, but they shall not find him. He has withdrawn himself from them.

7 Sono stati sleali verso il Signore, generando figli bastardi: un conquistatore li divorerà insieme con i loro campi.

They have dealt treacherously against Jehovah, for they have borne strange sons. Now the new moon shall devour them with their fields.

8 Suonate il corno in Gàbaa e la tromba in Rama, date l'allarme a Bet-Avèn, all'erta, Beniamino!

Blow ye the cornet in Gibeah, and the trumpet in Ramah. Sound an alarm at Beth-aven, behind thee, O Benjamin.

9 Efraim sarà devastato nel giorno del castigo: per le tribù d'Israele annunzio una cosa sicura.

Ephraim shall become a desolation in the day of rebuke. I have made known that which shall surely be among the tribes of Israel.

10 I capi di Giuda sono diventati come quelli che spostano i confini e su di essi come acqua verserò la mia ira.

The rulers of Judah are like those who remove the landmark. I will pour out my wrath upon them like water.

11 Efraim è un oppressore, un violatore del diritto, ha cominciato a inseguire le vanità.

Ephraim is oppressed. He is crushed in judgment, because he was content to walk after man's command.

12 Ma io sarò come una tignola per Efraim e come un tarlo per la casa di Giuda.

Therefore I am to Ephraim as a moth, and to the house of Judah as rottenness.

13 Efraim ha visto la sua infermità e Giuda la sua piaga. Efraim è ricorso all'Assiria e Giuda si è rivolto al gran re; ma egli non potrà curarvi, non guarirà la vostra piaga,

When Ephraim saw his sickness, and Judah saw his wound, then Ephraim went to Assyria, and sent to king Jareb. But he is not able to heal you, nor will he cure you of your wound.

14 perché io sarò come un leone per Efraim, come un leoncello per la casa di Giuda. Io farò strage e me ne andrò, porterò via la preda e nessuno me la toglierà.

For I will be to Ephraim as a lion, and as a young lion to the house of Judah. I, even I, will tear and go away, I will carry off, and there shall be none to deliver.

15 Me ne ritornerò alla mia dimora finchè non avranno espiato e cercheranno il mio volto, e ricorreranno a me nella loro angoscia.

I will go and return to my place, till they acknowledge their offense, and seek my face. In their affliction they will seek me earnestly.
